Imparting legal awareness is the first step towards ensuring prompt and effective access to justice. Keeping this in mind, the Bar Council of India mandated all law colleges and universities in India to establish and run legal aid centers or clinics.

The idea was to fulfill certain standards of legal education, but more importantly, it was also aimed at engaging the students in serving their community by promoting legal awareness through these legal aid clinics and programs.

Following the same mandate the Legal Aid Society, Faculty of Law, Integral University was established, for providing free legal aid services for free to the needy or the poor section of the society, who are not capable of affording a legal representative for them who can fight a case for them, so the government has brought out the service for free legal aid to the needy people; to fulfill the objective of Article 39A of the Constitution of India.

About the Article Writing Competition

Effective writing is a form of art, which only certain people possess. The main objective of this article writing competition is to convey the thoughts to the people and give information regarding the details which can be useful and helpful.

With the help of a matter of interest, to convey the very idea of one perspective, a good article requires a lot of research information intertwined with suggestions and advice, which the author believes to achieve the attention of the reader.

The main objective of the article writing competition is to evaluate and to check the knowledge of candidates about specific topics and the way they describe the same in writing.

Rules of the Competition

• Format: The article must be written in English and submitted in Microsoft Word document format (.doc/.docx).
• Co-authorship: Up to a maximum of two authors is permitted.
• Number of Submissions Allowed: Only 1 submission is allowed per author/team. Submissions, both as co-author and single, will be treated as multiple submissions and will be disqualified as an entry to the competition.
• Formatting Specifications: The following formatting specifications need to be strictly adhered to:
  • Main Body: Font – Times New Roman, Font Size – 12, and Line Spacing – 1.5;
  • Footnotes: Font – Times New Roman, Font Size – 10, and Line Spacing – 1.0 and footnotes must follow the Bluebook system of citation (APA, 20th edition).
  • Margins should be 1 inch or 2.54 cm on all sides.
• Word Limit: 2000- 2500 words excluding footnotes.
• Abstract: The article must contain an abstract, not exceeding 250 words (which would not be counted in the word limit for the article). It must indicate the theme/topic.

• The article must be accompanied by a cover letter containing the following information about the participant:
  • Full name of the participant;
  • Theme/Topic chosen;
  • Participant’s current year of study and name of the degree pursued;
  • Name and full address of the participant’s university;
  • Name and full postal address of the participant;
  • Phone number of the participant and email ID of the participant.
• Plagiarism: The article must be original, unpublished and bona-fide work of the participant. Incomplete or plagiarized submissions shall be summarily rejected. The Similarity Index limit is 15% (excluding footnotes).
• Note: No part of the article should contain any form of identification of the participant such as the name of the author, University/College name, etc. on the article. Any form of identification will lead to disqualification.

About the Event

Legal events have been an important part of the fest over the years and we consider it a great opportunity to experiment with different kinds of events and host events of the highest quality for all participants.

The Judgment Writing Competition, 2022 has been conceived with the aim of promoting skills of interpreting and applying legal concepts to facts and drafting judgments.

The Judgment Writing Competition will have the following principles and purpose:

• To develop a judicious mind;
• To apply legal concepts with a clarity of thought;
• To promote the spirit of rule of law and justice; and,
• To interpret the law in a justifiable manner with a view to meet ends of justice.

Team Composition and Registration Procedure

• Each team shall consist of a minimum of (01) one participant and a maximum two (02) participants belonging to the same college.
• The participants shall be pursuing a 3-year LLB or 5-year integrated LLB programme from any college within India.
• The team composition may not be altered after registration.
• The last date of Provisional Registration shall be March 25, 2022 must be done on this Registration Link.
• The Registration fee for the competition is Rs. 500/-, for which the payments details share be shared with the provisionally registered participants on their Email IDs.
• The Final Registration shall be confirmed via mail only after receipt of the payment, which has to be completed within 3 days after the confirmation of provisional registration.
• The judgement is to be submitted via the google form both docx and pdf latest by 11:59pm IST, April 05, 2022, on the Submission Link. In case of multiple submissions, the last submission by the participant before the deadline will be considered for evaluation and any submission received after the deadline shall not be considered for evaluation, and the team shall be disqualified.

Environmental Law Cell (ELC), one of the many cells/ centres of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad was established with the motto of incorporating a sense of responsibility towards the environment among students and creating awareness about each person’s individual responsibilities to contribute in the prevention of future degradation of the environment.

About the Event 

The National Article Writing Competition is to be conducted in the lead up to the World Water Day, which is celebrated on the 22nd of March, 2022.

World Water Day celebrates water while also creating awareness of the billions of people who do not have access to clean drinking water. The goal is to find solutions and put them into action to handle the world’s water crisis.

The realization of Sustainable Development Goal 6: Water and Sanitation for all by 2030 is a major focus of World Water Day. In the 30th meeting of UN-Water held at Rome, the theme for World Water Day, 2022 was decided as “Ground Water: Making the Invisible Visible” and the same is the theme of the Competition.

The sub-themes for the competition are:

1. National Water Policy, 2002 and Drinking Water Issues.

2. Universal access to safe and affordable drinking water by 2030.

3. Role of Institutions, Infrastructure and Technology in meeting Global Water Challenges.

4. Right to Water and International Law Instruments.

5. Inter state rivers: Management, Development and Dispute Resolution.

These themes are merely suggestive and submissions on another topic tackling the same area will be accepted.

The webinar is open to all interested participants, students, lawyers, and law enthusiasts.

About the Organizer

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. This platform provides opportunities to the students ranging from +2 Board level to Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programs.

Since the inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 in various universities, colleges, and institutions of higher learning who have volunteered to take part in various community service programs.

About the Competition

On the occasion of World Water Day, the NSS UNIT OF NLU ASSAM is organizing a National PowerPoint Presentation Competition- ‘Pradarshan‘. This competition is the first of its kind to be organized by the unit. The aim behind holding this competition is to evoke youths to enhance their creativity and bring out myriad solutions on some of the issues pertaining to water use and management.

Open for all the students, academicians, researchers, and all others who wish to contribute to water management.

Structure of the PowerPoint Presentation Competition

The National PowerPoint Presentation Competition – PRADARSHAN will be organized by the NSS unit of NLU Assam in 2 Stages: Registration and topic selection

• Participants must register and select the topic before the due date to be eligible for participation.
• A maximum of 10 teams will be considered for the competition on first come, first serve basis.
• Registration is free of cost.
• Topics once selected will not be changed under any circumstances.
• Each participant can register only once.
• A maximum of 1 co-participant is allowed to take part in the competition along with the team coordinator. So, a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 participants can register under a team.
• The last date for registration is March 21, 2022.

Guidelines

• All participants are expected to use the latest version of Microsoft Power Point for the presentation rounds.
• The minimum number of slides required in the presentation is Five.
• Use of all kinds’ graphical, visual and audio effects is permitted.
• Participants are required to come up with a unique tag-line pertaining to the sub-topic
  chosen.
• Inclusion of your name and the university name in the presentation is strictly prohibited.
• The presentation must be an original idea of the participants.

SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law is hosting its 4^th Annual National Constitutional Law and Policy Debate, 2022.

The Competition aims to provide a platform to simulate thoughts and exchange on Constitutional, Social and Contemporary issues.

Eligibility and Team Composition

• The Competition is open to all students pursuing graduation or masters degree from any educational institute.
• Participation is capped at Twenty Four (24) teams and it shall be on first-come-first serve basis. The team shall consist of two speakers. A maximum of 3 teams are permitted from each institution. Cross-institution participation is permitted.

About the Essay competition

The initiative of organizing this competition started in 2018 with a motive to make the students think about the recent advancements in Constitutional Law and then pen them down using their own knowledge either analytically or critically. The competition also provides and exposure to the students by giving them an opportunity to receive their awards from some eminent legal luminaries. With student research oriented approach, this competition aims to make people aware about various constitutional provisions that requires some deliberation. The competition does not restrict the students to any particular topic and allows them, to think in all dimensions and pen down their thoughts regarding the recent or contemporary constitutional issues.

2. Eligibility: Law Students, Scholars, Academicians, Lawyers, Judges and Legal Professionals are eligible to participate.

About ILS Pune

The Indian Law Society was established in 1923 as a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960. It is a non-profit organization established with the sole purpose of imparting legal education.

The Society is a voluntary association of persons, who came together with a pledge to launch legal courses having social utility and social relevance. The founder members of the Indian Law Society were the legal luminaries like Sir Narayanrao Chandavarkar, Shri J. R. Nanasaheb Gharpure, Diwan Bahadur and P. B. Shingane.

Established in 1924, ILS Law College is one of the oldest law schools in India and has been playing a pioneering role in legal education and scholarship in the country.

About the Competition

Legislations or statutes are considered as one of the important sources of law. Most of the legislation are written in a manner that is complex for laymen to understand. Thus, to create legal literacy and legal awareness amongst the common man legislations have to be drafted in clear, simple language with accuracy and precision. Drafting is an onerous task and requires proficiency. A person drafting legislation should pen down every word with exactness. Legislative drafting is the art of creating a nexus between legislation and the intention behind it.

Efficacy of a law is dependent on the wisdom with which it is drafted. It is often observed that good policies may turn out to be a bad law because of the ambiguity or incorrect placement of words, thus precision in drafting a law gains importance.

The purpose of organizing the National Legislative Drafting competition is to encourage law students to get introduced to the skills of legislative drafting and also to emphasize upon them the significance of the subject.

Eligibility

Students of III, IV & V year of 5-Year Integrated Law Degree Program & Students of II & III years of 3-Year LL. B Program and Students pursuing Post-Graduation in Law (LL.M) at the time of the competition are eligible to participate in the Competition. 

Team Composition: A team shall be comprised of two members only.  

The number of Participating Teams: Maximum of Sixteen (16) teams shall be allowed to participate in the competition, on the basis of a first-come-first-serve basis.

Registration

• Release of subject/theme/ topic for drafting of Bill on the college website (www.ilslaw.edu) on March 9, 2022. 
•  Registration Opens on March 11, 2022 for the Competition.
•  Registration Fees: Rs. 1,000/- per team (including GST).
• Last Date for Registration: March 27, 2022. (Please note, the registration will close on receiving registrations of sixteen teams which can be before 27^th March, 2022.)

Prizes   

• Winning Team: INR 8,000/- + Book on Legislative Drafting by T.K. Viswanathan
• First Runner-up team: INR 5,000/-
• Second Runner-up team: INR 4,000/-
• Members of the participating team shall be given certificates of participation

About the Competition

To celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and to mark a call to action for accelerating gender parity, the NSS Unit of NLU Assam is organizing an Elocution Competition on 13 March, 2022 (Sunday) in line with International Women’s Day Celebration.

The theme for this year is ‘Gender Equality Today For Sustainable Tomorrow’.

About the Organizing University

Located in the lap of nature, the Career Point University was established by Government of Himachal Pradesh Act No 12 of 2012 under Sec 2(f) of UGC Act 1956. The University is recognized by UGC and is a member of AIU.

About the Judgment Writing Competition 2022

School of Legal Studies and Governance, Career Point University Hamirpur (H.P) Organizing the 3rd Online Judgment Writing Competition, 2022.

The Judgment writing competition entails to capture the art of decision making in budding lawyers aspiring to join the reputed judicial services and to unfold the dynamic role of the Judges in relation to society.

The judgment writing competition involves a comprehensive approach towards law in terms of theory and implication of law. The legal arguments on facts and situation with legal precedents and reasoning pave way for judgment writing. This shall be an online event.

Guidelines and essential information for the Online Judgment Writing Competition- 2022 are as under:

Note: Kindly note that the timeline is tentative and subject to change.

Eligibility

• The submission is open to all Law Students registered in Graduate/Post Graduate Course in any Institution/ College/ University.
• The students can register themselves as a team of 2 or may also seek single registration.
• There is no restriction on the number of entries from any college or university.
• The participants shall write a single opinion. Multiple opinions/dissenting opinions are not allowed.

Format Guidelines

• Language: The language for writing the judgment shall be in English only.
• Word limit: Maximum of 5000 words (including foot notes).
• Main Text: Times New Roman, font size 12, double spacing, justified, with a margin of an inch on all sides.
• Footnotes: Times New Roman, font size 10. Substantive footnotes are accepted.
• Citation Mode: Any uniform method of citation is allowed.
• Page numbers must be at the bottom center.

Submission Procedure

• A cover page stating the name of the competition, the name of participant’s institution and the names of student author, with the signature of student author.
• Only single author is permitted.
• The Judgment Writing shall begin on the next page. The first page of Judgment must contain Team Code, Name of the Court, Title, Number of the Case, Date of Delivery of Judgment, Nature of the Case (Civil/Criminal/Writ).
• Do not state any matter in the judgment (except the cover page) that might reveal your identity or of your institution.
• All the Judgments must be saved and sent as PDF file. The title of the file must be in the following format CPUH_JWC_ TEAM CODE.
• The participants who register for the event shall be provided with a Unique Registration Code which shall be used for all further communication and submission of the write-up.
• The write-ups shall have no plagiarism and should be the original work of the participants.
• The write-up must be submitted in both Microsoft Word and PDF format.
• The write-up must be sending on Google form link. (The link will be shared on  19 April 2022 by E-Mail)
