The Bar Council of India approved the establishment of Ramaiah College of Law in Bengaluru in 1995 under the administration of Gokula Education Foundation. Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Director (Academics), RCL, oversaw the establishment of the Centre for Women and Child Welfare Policy (CWCWP) in November 2019. Women and children are the focus of the Centre’s efforts. Its main focus is on fulfilling its goals and making future plans.

About the Competition

The Centre for Women and Child Welfare Policy (CWCWP) was formed to enhance research, learning, and training in areas relevant to women and child welfare, in line with Ramaiah College of Law’s vision.

Submission guidelines

The following are the rules and guidelines for the Essay Writing Competition:

  1. It is an Essay Writing Competition open only for UG Students of Law.
  2. The Essay should be written only in English. The Essay should be an original piece of work and must NOT have been published anywhere else.
  3. The Essay must be word-processed preferably using Microsoft Word, using double line spacing, with each page numbered.
  4. DO NOT include any pictures.
  5. The Essay should NOT exceed 2000 words. [Excluding References].
  6. The Essay must be typed on A4 size electronic page.
  7. The font should be in Times New Roman, and the size of the font should be 12.
  8. The participants can use BLUE BOOK CITATION OR APA 6TH EDITION REFERENCE style for their Essay.
  9. Only one paper per participant must be submitted. Maximum authors for each paper can be only two. In the case of two authors of a winning Essay, the prize money shall be shared between them.

  11. The Registered participants must send their essays in MS word document via mail to this email address: cwcwp@msrcl.org
  12. Participants must also write their names, class, Institution name in the body of the mail only and attach the essay document which must be named as your essay’s title and nothing else. Participant name or identifying mark must not appear in the Essay.
  13. The participant’s name or any of their identification should NOT be reflected either on the essay cover page or anywhere else in their word document, so that the Essay can be judged without knowing who the participant is.
  14. The last date of Registration is November 13, 2021
  15. The last date to receive entries (i.e., participant’s essay) for evaluation is November 14, 2021
  16. The criteria for evaluation will be based on originality, content, clarity, and overall presentation.
  17. All entries should be the original work of the participant. Any participant found violating rules and regulations will be disqualified from the Competition.
  18. Participants have to send their Essay (PDF) to cwcwp@msrcl.org on or before November 14, 2021’ by 10:00 pm. Any late submission will not be accepted.
  19. Online registration is compulsory for each participant.
  20. The decision of the jury would be final.

About the centre for constitutional Law & Public policy Debate

The Centre for Constitutional Law & Public Policy Debate aims at providing a common platform for exchange of views, for deliberation and discussions regarding contemporary issues in the field of Constitutional law. Its purpose is to bring all the stakeholders including legal luminaries, students, distinguished academicians on one platform to share their knowledge and views regarding issues pertaining to Constitutional law and public policy.

The Centre strives at providing opportunity to the students to develop an in depth understanding about the Constitution of India,1950 which is a living document and equally enduring in nature.

About the competition

Public Interest Litigation (PIL) is one of the most indispensable parts of our Indian Legal System. The National PIL drafting competition aims at giving the upcoming generation of the legal fraternity, an opportunity to understand the practical dynamics that go into making of a PIL.

The objective of the Competition is to improve and deepen the level of analytical and critical thinking by involving the participants in some real-life practical problems. The participants would be required to draft a PIL memorial on the draft proposition attached as a separate document.

Registration

  1. All the participants are requested to register themselves for the competition through https://forms.gle/CS7UVFXuzCaw8kXR7 by 06.11.2021.
  2. There is no registration fee for participating in the competition.

Team composition

  • Individual participation or participation in a team of two is allowed.
  • One College will be represented by one team ONLY.
  • The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed after the registration deadline 06.11.2021 by 11:59 P.M.) except in extenuating circumstances and only with permission of the Organizer.

Queries and clarifications

Memorial Guidelines

Submission of PIL Guidelines

  • Each participating Team must prepare ONE PIL memorial.
  • If a participant/team wishes to submit any annexures to support his/her arguments [for instance Reports, Commentaries, News Clippings, etc.] a compendium of all the relevant annexures must be prepared and should be  sent along with the memorial, as per the proforma set in the PIL Rules. 
  • All PIL memorials must reach us on this email address: dacnlaw.ccl@gmail.com till 11:59 P.M., 21.11.2021 with the Subject of the email as “PIL Memorial of Team
  • Code- “ABC”. In case any file which is received is corrupted, then the requisite team shall be given 6 hours from the time of intimation to send the correct file, failing which they will be disqualified. 
  • Any submission made after the deadline specified shall attract a penalty of deduction of 1 mark per hour from the aggregate marks.
  • No entry made after 24 hours of the deadline shall be accepted in any case.
  • All memorials received shall be subjected to plagiarism check. In case the memorial of two or more participants/teams is found “exactly identical” to each other, both the participants/ teams shall be disqualified.

Formatting guidelines

  1. All the Memorials must be submitted in both Microsoft Word Document format (.doc/.docx) and PDF Format (.pdf) [i.e. each team is required to send 2 files- One in MS Word format and one in PDF format].
  2. For other rules regarding drafting of PIL, compliance to the Bombay High Court’s standard rules mentioned in Bombay High Court Appellate Side Rules, 1960 shall be mandatory. 

Penalties

  • The non-adherence of sub-rule i shall attract the penalty of 5 marks
  • The non-adherence of sub-rule ii shall attract the penalty of 1 mark each  discrepancy.
  • If any memorial is found to be plagiarised, it shall result into disqualification of the team.

Note

IN NO CASE THE PARTICIPANTS ARE ALLOWED TO CONTACT THE AUTHOR OF THE DRAFT PROPOSITION. IN CASE THIS RULE IS FLOUTED, THE SUBMISSIONS MADE BY SUCH PARTICIPANTS SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Content of the memorial

The PIL Memorial must contain all of, and only, the following components:

  1. Cover Page (For Identification / Team Code Purposes only)
  2. Index
  3. Synopsis (List of Dates and Events)
  4. Memo of PIL
  5. List of Annexures (with Annexures), if any

NOTE: 

The overall draft of the PIL (Memo) should not exceed 25 pages. Together with Index, Synopsis and List of Annexures (Annexures), the same should not exceed more than 50 pages.

EVALUATION OF THE MEMORIAL

Each memorial shall be evaluated on the following parameters:

  • Knowledge of Law and Facts of the proposition – 20
  • Proper and Articulate Analysis – 20
  • Extent and Use of Research – 20
  • Clarity and Organization – 15
  • Grammar and Style – 15
  • Correct format and Citation style – 10

About the International Research Paper Writing Competition (IRPWC)

KSLR is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access and faculty-student edited flagship journal of Kathmandu School of Law. It aspires to become one of the growth-stimulators for the budding legal scholarship in Nepal, by publishing quality and balanced contents of local, national, regional, international, and universal value. Although KSLR uses a wide-angle lens and acknowledges that its publications may be instrumental for everyone and every field of scientific inquiry, it primarily aims to be an enabling and accessible publication for scholars and professionals who have stakes in the field of law and legal studies. To this end, KSLR conceived the IRPWC in 2020 specifically as a competitive and incentivised opportunity for emerging scholars and professionals. Sample Issues

Following is a sample (non-exhaustive list) of broader issues based on which specific topics
for research may be formulated:

  • Issues within the definition and classification of ‘migration’ and ‘migrants’;
  • Issues within various international legal frameworks applicable to human migration. These include: human rights law, international labour standards, refugee law, the law against transnational organised crimes, environment law (notably the law on climate change), humanitarian law, international health regulation, and such;
  • Relativism in law, policies and practices among states of origin, transit and destination, and the consequential gaps in protection of migrants;
  • The role and functions of inter-governmental organisations and the national government(s) in managing human migration and protecting migrants;
  • Accountability of non-state actors;
  • Legal and policy amendments to address the disruptions in and emerging
  • patterns of human migration in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Eligibility for Authorship

  • The competition is open to students enrolled in bachelors, masters or Ph.D. level of studies, research scholars, and early career academicians with no more than 7 years of experience in their profession.
  • A paper may have up to three authors.
  • Only one submission is allowed per author.

Registration Procedure and Deadline

  • Registration for the competition shall be free of cost.
  • Submission of the research paper shall automatically register author(s) for the competition.

  • The deadline for submission of the research paper, without any exception, is 20 December 2021, 11:59 PM NPT (GMT +5:45).

Formatting and Styling

  • The research paper should be submitted as a Word file (.doc/.docx) at the link specified above.

Plagiarism and Referencing

  • The research paper should be the original work of the author(s).
  • The research paper should not have been published elsewhere in significant parts or as a whole. If it has been submitted elsewhere for consideration for publication, the submission must be retracted before submission at IRPWC, and the proof of retraction must be submitted.
  • References must comply with the KSL Comprehensive Style to Legal Citation.

Awards

  • The best paper with the highest scores will receive a corresponding certificate and a cash prize of US $150/- (Inclusive of bank transfer charges wherever applicable).
  • The second-best paper with the second-highest scores will receive a corresponding certificate and a cash prize of US $100/- (Inclusive of bank transfer charges wherever applicable).
  • The third best paper with the third highest scores will receive a corresponding certificate and a cash prize of US $50/- (Inclusive of bank transfer charges wherever applicable).
  • Each outstanding paper falling short of three best scores will be awarded an “Honorary Mention” and receive a corresponding certificate.
  • All remaining participants who reach the second round of evaluation will receive a corresponding certificate of participation. Participants who do not reach the second round of evaluation will not receive a certificate of participation.

About competition

The Client Counselling Competition promotes greater knowledge and interest among law students in the preventative law and counselling functions of law practice. It also encourages students to develop interviewing, planning, and analytical skills in the lawyer- client relationship in the law office. Interviewing and advising are a significant part of most lawyer’s work. The Competition provides an opportunity for a valuable educational and cultural interchange between students, law teachers, and legal practitioners.

  • Initial interview with a person playing the role of the client.
  • Address the client’s legal and non-legal needs
  • The advocate-client relationship
  • Build rapport
  • Determine client goals
  • Consider applicable law, etc.

PREREQUISITE FOR STAGES

The Competition follows, Point Qualification Format in which teams accumulating the highest number of points in the preliminary rounds will qualify for the Quarter Finals followed by the Semi-Final Rounds and thereon for the Final Rounds.

There will be four (4) rounds of competition

  1. The Preliminary Round
  2. The Quarter Finals (for 8 short listed Teams).
  3. The Semi Final round (for 4 short listed Teams)
  4. The Final Round (for the Final 2 Teams)
    • Each Counselling Session is divided into three parts: Consultation, PostConsultation and Critique.
    • During the consultation and post-consultation, the team may use books, notes and other materials.

THEME

The problem for the Client Counselling will be based on any of these subject areas: Law of Torts, Constitutional Law, Specific Relief, Family Law, Criminal Law, Labour Law, Environmental Law, and other major Acts.

TIME LIMIT FOR EACH ROUND PER TEAM:

PRELIMINARY ROUND= 30 Minutes

  • Consultation Period is 20 Minutes.
  • Post Consultation Period is 5 Minutes.
  • Critique Period is 5 Minutes

SEMI-FINALS= 35 Minutes

  • Consultation Period is 25 Minutes.
  • Post Consultation Period is 5 Minutes.
  • Critique Period is 5 Minutes

FINALS= 40 Minutes

  • Consultation Period is 25 Minutes.
  • Post Consultation Period is 10 Minutes.
  • Critique Period is 5 Minutes

RULES FOR THE COMPETITION

The school of Law, Sathyabama institute of science And Technology is conducting 1st Virtual National Client Counselling Competition,2021. The Competition shall be conducted on 3rd & 4th December 2021. The rules for the competition are given below:

  1. The Organizers shall not be responsible for any loss due to slow or non-functional Internet Connection during the Competition. We request all the participants to arrange a sound Internet Connection.
  2. The decision of the Judges shall be final regarding the outcome of the Rounds.
  3. No additional documentation or screen sharing will be allowed.
  4. The Organizers reserve the right to take disqualify the participants if indulged unethical, wrongful or unprofessional conduct.
  5. Scouting is not allowed under any circumstances and may lead to disqualification. You are requested to exit the room after your session is over.
  6. If there is any situation, not covered by the Rules, the decision of the Organizers shall be final and binding.
  7. The participants are always required to comply with the rules formulated by the Organizing Committee during the competition. In case of any non-compliance with the rules of the competition, penalty may be imposed by deduction of marks and the teams may also be disqualified after they have been warned once.
  8. All the participates will receive their E-Certificates.
  9. Participants are advised to check their mailboxes regularly for updates.
  10. In the case of a tie, the higher rank would be determined on the basis of least time taken by the participants.

TEAM COMPOSITION

  • Each team must consist of two participants only.
  • The two participants may be from any of the 3 year or 5-year LLB course.
MODE OF THE COMPETITION: Virtual. LANGUAGE: English.

ELIGIBILITY

Students of three year and five-year law degree courses from any University/Law School/College/Department are eligible for registration of their team.

DRESS CODE

Participants should wear Formal Attire during the competition.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • Quality of questions asked for obtaining relevant information from client
  • Extent of relevant remedies suggested to client
  • Establishing an effective professional relationship.
  • Learning the client’s goals, expectations and needs.
  • Factual and legal analysis of the client’s problems.
  • Giving advice and assisting the client to make an informed decision.
  • Response during the post consultation period.

MARKING CRITERIA

The Marking scheme shall comprise of 50 marks per participant, which shall be distributed as follows:

  1. Presence of mind = 10 marks
  2. Ability to provide legal solution = 10 marks
  3. Tactfully handling the client = 10 marks
  4. Extracting relevant information from client = 10 marks
  5. Audible summarizing & team work (Post Consultation) = 10 mark

Gautam Buddha University-which has been legislatively conceived as “a center of excellence”- has started its ambitious multidisciplinary academic programme with the establishment of its School of Law, Justice & Governance in 2011. It is a university for people who have the ideas that make a difference in the world and who love to bring change. The School envisions to foster advancement of learning, teaching and research in the fields of law, justice and governance. The five-year integrated BA LLB programme has been running since July 2012.

About CELMAR

Centre for Environmental Law Management and Research-(CELMAR), has been set up in the School of Law Justice & Governance under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Gautam Buddha University. The CELMAR was inaugurated by Dr. Prabhat Kumar, IAS, Vice-Chancellor, GBU dated 2nd October 5, 2018.

I. NATIONAL ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

The School of Law, Justice, and Governance, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida in collaboration with CELMAR and LAC is pleased to announce the National Essay Writing Competition. The competition encourages critical thinking, which is the process of reflecting on a problem and coming to a resolution. It encourages students to evaluate various arguments in order to develop stronger perspectives.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from any recognized university across India.
  • One author can only submit one entry for the competition, all subsequent entries will be disqualified by default.
  • Incomplete and plagiarized submissions would also result in immediate disqualification.
  • No restriction on the number of entries from any college or university.
  • Only Individual Participation is allowed

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • The subject of the submission email shall be ‘Submission: Gautam Buddha University Essay Writing Competition.
  • The Participants may use References/Bibliography/ Endnotes/Footnotes. For footnotes and endnotes, all the participants shall follow the 20th Bluebook method of citation.
  • The essay must be written in Hindi or English only.
  • The word limit for the competition is 2000-2500 words (excluding

  • Co-Authorship is not allowed under any circumstances.

II. CASE PROBLEM ANALYSIS

The event of “Problem Analysis” is being organized by the School of Law, Justice, and Governance, CELMAR and LAC of Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida with the theme of the proposition based on ‘Environmental Law and Constitutional Law’.
Noise Pollution is one of the major concerns of scientists nowadays. Its effect on human health and welfare is recently considered as an important and vital issue which encourages scientists and interested agencies all over the world, such as World Health Organisation (WHO), to conduct more researches concerning the assessment of its levels and harmful effects.
The competition deals with the similar aspect of problems arising due to noise pollution attached with a proposition mentioned below which is needed to be reviewed, analyzed in order to find out cost-effective and innovative solutions for the management of environmental issues dealt in the proposition along with the touch of Constitutional laws and Environmental laws. The event aims to spread public awareness among the people about the rising concern of
Environment problems and gives a platform for providing an effective solution for the same.

Rules of the competition

  • There is no registration fee for the competition.

Students who have completed an above-mentioned programme or their equivalent in 2021, and post graduate students who are selected for and will be enrolled in any such programme for 2021-2022 are also eligible to participate.

  • No part of the essay should contain any form of identification of the participant.

Submission Guidelines

  • The essay must be submitted in Microsoft Word document format (.doc/.docx).
  • The essay must contain an abstract, not exceeding 250 words. It must indicate the theme.
  • A participant can submit an entry for one theme only. Co-authorship is not permitted.
  • The word limit is 4500–6500 words including footnotes.
  • The essay must be accompanied by a separate document containing the following information about the participant:

    2. theme chosen,
    3. participant’s current year of study and name of the degree pursued
    4. name and full address of the participant’s university

About School of Agricultural Law and Economics, RGNLU

School of Agricultural Law and Economics (SALE) is a Center of excellence established with an object to provide a platform for multidimensional analysis of the agricultural sector in connotation to legal, social, political and cultural paradigms.
The School of Agricultural Law and Economics encompasses the study of the law which focuses on the special rules and exceptions made for agriculture. It basically aims at focusing on how agricultural laws can be used to serve the diverse and competent interests of the agricultural society.

About the debate competition

The 1st National Level Debate Competition, organised by the School of Agriculture Law & Economics, RGNUL, Punjab, will be based on the Lincoln-Douglas debate format i.e., one on one debate in order to promote individualism amongst the participants. Through this competition, we aim at providing the students with a platform to hone their debating skills and improve the whole debating experience by ensuring that the participants meet with challenging issues based on contemporary and developing aspects of law and society. The competition strives to provide a safe platform for students to grow and experiment with their communication skills and critical thinking abilities.

The competition shall comprise of 3 stages:

Preliminary Round

4+1 minutes to speak. Timings will be displayed on the screen twice, once after 1 minute and second after another 3 minutes.
Rebuttal: 1 minute to each participant.

Semi finals and final rounds

Lincoln-Douglas Format

1 vs 1 format (Lincoln-Douglas Format)

The Lincoln-Douglas debate is dedicated to questions that are of a deep moral or philosophical nature. The debate format for a Lincoln-Douglas debate is one-on one.

  • Affirmative Constructive – 6 minutes
  • Cross-Examination by negative – 3 minutes
  • Negative Constructive – 6 minutes
  • Cross-Examination by positive – 3 minutes
  • First Affirmative Rebuttal – 4 minutes
  • Negative Rebuttal – 4 minutes

Total Speaking time for each Speaker- 13 minutes

Preparation time: 30 Minutes.

GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITION

  • A New Motion will be Provided 30 minutes before each Oral round.
  • The participants will be informed about their stand, i.e., either “For the Motion”or “Against the Motion”, 30 minutes before starting that particular round, through the WhatsApp group.
  • The medium of debate is strictly English.
  • The participant must maintain professional decorum at all times throughout the competition. The use of abusive or profane language will immediately disqualify the participant.
  • Individual scores of each round will be released after the completion of the respective round.
  • Each participant will be allotted a unique code for further reference and communication. The participant will be required to use that code only. In case any participant is found disclosing his/her identity, he or she will be immediately disqualified from the competition

The decision of the judges invited for evaluation will be final and binding.

This competition is open to all bonafide undergraduate and postgraduate students from colleges/universities across India. There is no restriction on the number of participants from a particular college.

Rule and guidelines

  • There is no cost to register.
  • A certificate and a cash prize will be given to the competition winner(s).
  • The organising team’s decisions are final and binding.
  • Any participant who violates any of the guidelines outlined here or elsewhere will be disqualified immediately.
  • A maximum of 100 people can participate; first come, first served.
  • There will be two rounds in the contest: a preliminary round and a final round (which shall further consist of an Eliminatory Round, and a Bounce & Pounce Round).

The Quiz Competition’s Format

  • Preliminary Round: The preliminary round will consist of a timed online MCQ test with a total of 25 questions. The online MCQ test will have a time limit of 10 minutes to complete.
  • Final Round: The final round will be conducted via Zoom video conference. At all times, the participants must have their videos turned on. The quizmaster and the proctoring team must always be able to see their face and hands. Any inconsistency may result in disqualification.
  • The final round would be conducted in two phases – Eliminatory Round and Bounce and Pounce Round.
    1. Eliminatory Round: The top 12 participants of the Preliminary Round would participate in the Eliminatory Round which will consist of three rounds in total. The round will have direct questions which will be directed in a sequential manner.
    2. Bounce and Pounce Round: The top 7 participants of the Eliminatory Round will compete in the Bound and Pounce Round which will consist of 7 rounds in total. The round will have direct questions which will be directed in a sequential manner.
