GLSLJ aims to make an effort in identifying the contemporary debatable topics through the writings of the experts in the varied fields of law. The Journal endeavors to encourage the synthesis of knowledge and best practices across academia and research fraternity.

Research is placed at a very high stature in legal field which enhances the understanding level of many and then rolls on the debate that can contribute profoundly by adding to the secondary source of materials for the legal research to follow.

Original research manuscripts:  Original, outstanding and argumentative contribution to legal study. (5000-6000 words)

Law Reviews: based on a systematic literature review. (4000-3000 words)

Case Comment:  commentary on any important landmark judgment. (3000-2500 words)

Book Review: Academic and literary review of any significant book published related to legal filed. (2500-2000 words)

Invite Editorial: The editors can invite experts to submit an invited article on a featured subject, The Chief Editor decide upon authors and subjects

Style Guideline:

Manuscript format: Manuscript must be in electronic form, all submission must be word processed, single spaced in Times New Roman and the margin parameters of the GLJ are 4.9 cm (top and bottom margins) and 4.5 cm (left and right margins)

  • Main heading in times new Roman with bold face
  • Body text in Times New Roman format with 12 pt.
  • Footnotes in Times New Roman format with 9 pt.
  • Alignment is justified full
  • Line spacing for body text 1.2 pt.
  • Line spacing for footnotes 1pt.

Style Guidelines

Form of Submission: Submissions must be in electronic form. All submissions must be word-processed, single-spaced in Garamond, font size 12 and justified. The prescribed word limits are inclusive of footnotes. However, we do not emphasize on strict compliance with the word count.

Abstract: All submissions must contain an abstract of not more than 250 words describing the relevant conclusions drawn in the paper. There is no requirement of prior submission of the abstract.

Citations:Only footnotes may be used as the form of citations. End notes shall not be accepted. All footnotes must be in Garamond, size 10, single-spacing and justified. The citations are derived from the blue book 20 Citation Style.

Debate Competition: Law College Dehradun

About the Organizers

Uttaranchal University, located at Dehradun, Uttarakhand was established by an Act of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. The University has been accredited with Grade “A+” by NAAC.

Law College Dehradun is a flagship institution of Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies and Research.

Aarambh is the Debating Society of the Law college. Students are encouraged to participate in events all over the country, where they get exposure to various formats of debates. The topics and issues chosen for various debates and discussions are selected, keeping in mind, the need of a law student to be in touch with relevant social issues.

About the Event

Debate is a method of formally presenting an argument in a disciplined manner. Logical consistency, factual accuracy and some degree of emotional appeal to the audience are elements in debating, where one side often prevails over the other party by presenting a superior “context” and/or framework of the issue. The outcome of a debate may depend upon consensus or some formal way of reaching a resolution, rather than the objective facts.

The Concurs De Debate is a National Level Conventional Debate organized by Aarambh the Debating Society, to effectively broaden the scope of orating skills among all the participants.

Rules of the Debate 

  1. The topic for the debate is-“THBT student migration is a failure of education system in India. इस सदन का मानना है कि छात्रों का प्रवास भारत की शिक्षा प्रणाली की विफलता है। 
  2. The debate shall be bilingual, either exclusively in English or exclusively in Hindi.
  3. The speakers shall not disclose their identities and shall only represent themselves by the team codes allotted to them.
  4. Each team shall be called by their team code and they are required to leave the podium together after their respective speeches.
  5. The speakers shall come to the podium as a team where one shall speak in the favour of the motion and the other shall speak against the motion.
  6. Each speaker shall be allotted a total time limit of 5 mins i.e (4+1) where the last minute shall be given to conclude the topic.
  7. The completion of the time limit of fourth min shall be indicated as single bell and the final bell to conclude the topic at the last 5th minute shall be indicated as a double bell.
  8. After the speech is made, the particular speaker shall be open to the floor for rebuttal. Only a participant from another team can ask a rebuttal.
  9. The answer to the rebuttal shall not exceed 1 minute.
  10. Only one rebuttal will be permitted per participant.
  11. No speaker shall be allowed to carry any piece of paper or gadget to the podium, a violation of which shall result in disqualification. The decision of the jury shall be final.
  12. Violation of any rule may cause disqualification of the whole team with the discretion of the jury.

Eligibility

  • Participant must be a bona fide student of the concerned university or college and must furnish a communiqué along with a proof of identity issued by the competent authority of the institution.
  • Team :
    • Each College/ University may send maximum two teams comprising of two individual each. Team participation shall mandatorily be in English and Hindi i.e., One team in English and the other in Hindi.
    • However if the College/University is unable to arrange such bilingual teams, then it may send only one team in any one of the languages.

Procedure of Registration

  1. The participants must register through a single registration form.
  2. Registration Fee:
    • A team of two members speaking in Hindi along with a team of two members speaking in English will fill a single form providing details of all the four candidates of the two teams by paying a fee of INR 800 for two teams. 
    • In case, where only one team is registering from an institution, the form shall be filled by the two candidates of the same team after paying a registration fee of INR 500 for one team.
  3. After paying the registrations fee, the participants are required to upload the screen shot of the payment in the registration form. Upon successful registration, a confirmation E-mail shall be sent to the participants.

  1. The participants shall be provided accommodation within the campus, if it is opted by them. 
    • The female participants shall be accommodated in the Girls Hostel under the supervision of hostel wardens and organizing committee.
    • Likewise, the male participants shall be accommodated in the Boys Hostel under the supervision of hostel wardens and the organizing committee.

About the Conference

Scientific temperament refers to an individual’s attitude toward logical and rational thinking. An individual is considered to have a scientific temper if s/he employs a scientific method of decision-making in everyday life. The term stresses to be a viable method of acquiring knowledge through applying the method of science. 

Historically Joan of Arc is shown as a victim of Witchcraft.  In recent times, certain shocking news reports have shed light upon incidents that led to human fatalities like Witchcraft and superstitious beliefs worldwide. There is a fine line between superstition and religion and treading that fine line is a challenging task. There rests upon the Law of the land, a responsibility installing such crimes by bringing in stringent regulations.

The present conference will provide a platform to discuss and deliberate the theme in detail during the technical sessions, followed by the Panel Discussions being chaired by subject-matter experts.

  • The abstracts should reach on or before May 5, 2022.
  • After accepting the abstract, the full research paper should reach on or before May 9, 2022 on mail Id: csl.researchcommittee@gmail.com along with the soft copy of the registration fees paid and screenshot/soft copy of the fee paid.
  • The paper must include a clear mention of the research methodology adopted, major findings, results, implications and key references.

Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad (MNLU Aurangabad, MNLUA) is a National Law University in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India.

It was established in 2017 by the Government of Maharashtra, the third and final university to be installed through the Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014, following Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai, and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, the 21st National Law University in India.

Concept Note for the Virtual Seminar on Surrogacy

It is a natural human desire to have one’s progeny, and thereby the concept of marriage and reproduction took birth in society. Different religions have different notions of marriage in their laws. For some religions, the base of marriage is spirituality, and for some, the objective of marriage is to reproduce. Indirectly or directly, the objective of all religions is to have a child who will be supporting the couple in their old age. 

However, in modern times and competitive era, married couples find it difficult to have their own babies either because of biological reasons or socioeconomic reasons. Therefore, in order to fulfill this desire of infertile couples, some religions keeping in view spiritual obligations have adopted the notion of adoption. However, this frustrates their basic urge to have their progeny, making them difficult to fulfill their religious aspirations and personal desires. 

To fulfill this desire, in this modern world, medical science has now developed to the extent of making available some mechanisms like IVF, Test tube baby, surrogacy, etc., thereby making it possible for such couples to fulfill their desire of having their progeny. Such medical advancements have become more popular in the competitive era where people’s focus has been more on employment and personal autonomy, thereby making it easy for them to have work-life balance. Statistics show that 25,000 children in India were born out of surrogacy as it has gained popularity, and India being a developing country with less GDP has become an easy target for surrogacy. 

Surrogacy conceptually and practically has several dimensions, and it involves an interplay of all disciplines such as law/medicine/taxation/commerce/morality/religion/human rights/social connotation/economic implications/human trafficking, etc. To address all these disciplines and thereby explore the concept of surrogacy, it is required for the academicians, stakeholders, and industry people to come together, form a forum, and discuss the concept in the interest of justice.  Furthermore, India is heading towards its own surrogacy bill, and academic discourse of such nature is required to be there to exchange ideas and inputs.

Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT WPU is the Flagship University of MAEER’s MIT Group of institutes, which has over 100,000 alumni all over the world. MIT WPU Campus is in Kothrud, Pune, and is the most preferred destination for students.

School of Law was established in the year 2018 and with the launch of this School, a new chapter began at MIT WPU. Within a short span of three years, MIT WPU has become the preferred destination for pursuing higher education in Law. The School of Law provides value-based learning in Law programs through interactive sessions, hands-on practical sessions, moots, classroom presentations, industry-driven assignments. 

About the Competition

MIT-WPU Faculty of Law cordially invites your college to participate in CCI – MIT WPU School of Law 2nd National Moot Court Competition 2022. Which is going to be held from April 28th to 30th, 2022. This competition intends to allow young law students to develop their skills in drafting, researching and advocating.

The objective of this moot court competition is to test the research skills of students in contemporary topics in the sphere of competition law and provide a platform where students can learn about competition from industry experts.  

Eligibility

The moot is open to all the students currently enrolled in LLB undergraduate degree courses. The competition has been designed for all the students pursuing law courses at different Universities/Institutes/Colleges approved by the Bar Council of India. 

Students pursuing the five-year integrated law degree as well as students pursuing the 3-year law degree are eligible for participation in this competition.

About the Organizers

The Government Law College, established in 1855, is the oldest in Asia, a pioneer in legal education – an institution par excellence. The generations of legal luminaries who have been nurtured by this unique institution have made a seminal contribution to the evolution of the Indian Legal System.

The Chamber of Tax Consultants (CTC) Mumbai is a non-profit organization established in 1926. The organization was formed to serve the object of educating and creating awareness among its members in Direct Tax, Indirect Tax, Allied Laws, Corporate Laws, International Tax, etc.

Eligibility

All students of any recognized law college in the country can participate.

Team Composition: Each team shall comprise three students- two speakers and one researcher.

Format of the Moot Competition

  • A maximum of 16 teams shall participate, and the registrations shall be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • The competition will be conducted in a hybrid model.
  • The Prelim and Quarter Final rounds will be held online on June 5, 2022, and the Semifinals and Finals will be held offline on June 18, 2022, in Mumbai.
  • The said Rounds shall be judged by members of the tax fraternity, Hon’ble Members of the ITAT, and the Hon’ble Judges of the High Court.
  • There shall be prizes for the Winning Team, Runner up Team, Best Speaker, Runner up Speaker, and Best Memorial.

The Moot Problem

This year, the Moot Proposition shall be based on Income Tax Act, 1961.

  • Release of Moot: April 5, 2022
  • Last date for registration for the competition: April 15, 2022
  • Last date for clarifications: April 20, 2022
  • Last date of submission of soft copies of Memorials: May 15, 2022
  • Last date of submission of hard copies of Memorials: June 12, 2022
  • Preliminary and Quarter-final Rounds (Online): June 5, 2022
  • Semi-final and Final Rounds (Offline): June 18, 2022

How to Register?

All the teams shall provisionally register by sending a mail to taxmootglc@gmail.com

Participants must fill out the Google Form to complete the final registration.

Registration fees for teams shall be Rs. 2,000/-

Accommodation shall be provided only to teams qualifying for the Semi-final and Final rounds.

Payment is to be made in favor of “The Chamber of Tax Consultants” via NEFT.

Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University is India’s first Private State Women’s University. The state legislature of Rajasthan has established the university by the Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University, Jaipur Act (Act no. 17 of 2008).

About the Competition

Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University is organizing a moot court competition to expose students pursuing the law course to the Indian Court system & advocacy skills.

General Details

  • Date: May 7 to 8, 2022
  • Mode: Physical
  • Venue: Faculty of Law and Governance, Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University, Jaipur

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to all Law students pursuing 5-year and 3-year LL.B. courses.
  • Male candidates can also participate, but the ratio of participants should be 2:1 (2 female & 1 Male Participant)
  • Each University/Institute shall be eligible to send one team. The team should not disclose the identity of their institution in the course of proceedings in the courtrooms; such disclosure shall invite penalties, including disqualification.

Team Composition

  • Each team shall comprise of 3 members only, out of which two (2) will be Mooters and one (1) researcher.
  • Each team shall be provided with the team code by draw of lots followed by an exchange of memorials.

Registration Details

Accommodation + Fooding Lodging Facilities are available on charges subject to first cum first serve basis.

  • One Day Room Charge: 1500/- inclusive Fooding + Lodging
  • Two Days Room Charge: 2500/- inclusive Fooding + Lodging

The registration form with all team details must be submitted online and also sent to the university on or before April 30, 2022

A registration fee of Rs. 2000/- is to be paid online or sent by way of Demand Draft in favor of JAYOTI VIDYAPEETH WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY, Jaipur, payable at Jaipur along with the registration form.

The registration fee shall be non-refundable.
