JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley is seeking a full-time college student or recent graduate to work in our Housing Department. The intern will work primarily in a project to analyze data related to evictions, but may
work on other projects as requested by attorneys. This can include help with research, data collection, filing, and case investigation. The project will require the intern to work on-site and do field work in San Jose, so the
intern must be able to travel to San Jose to work on the project.

About the Competition

The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition is the world’s oldest international writing competition for schools, established in 1883. For 2021 the Competition theme is Community in the Commonwealth. With the global spread of COVID-19, we’ve seen the lives of many Commonwealth citizens affected. Each year, aspiring young writers are asked to submit their pieces in response to a theme. Recent themes have included Climate Action in the Commonwealth (2020), A Connected Commonwealth (2019), Towards a Common Future (2018), A Commonwealth for Peace (2017) and ‘An Inclusive Commonwealth’ (2016); drawing out innovative ideas for positive change and encouraging entrants to consider new perspectives. The Centre for Information, Communication and Technology Law Blog (“CICTL Blog”) invites submissions, including articles, research pieces, opinions, case comments and short notes on the latest and/or relevant issues on Information Technology Law, and any aspect regarding the relationship between technology and the law. These shall include, but not be limited to telecommunications law, data protection, intellectual property rights, cybercrimes, internet governance, software contracts, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

Co-authorship:

Co-authorship up to two authors is permitted.

Plagiarism:

The submission should reflect original and unpublished work, not under review with a similar platform. A maximum similarity of 15% is allowed. Non-adherence to this rule shall result in rejection of the article summarily with no chance for improvement.

Length:

Submissions must ideally be limited to a length of 1500 words. This limit shall be exclusive of any explanatory endnotes that are added. Non-adherence of the word limit can be allowed only if deemed necessary.
