Lexpeeps.in in collaboration with the chambers of Himanjali Gautam is organizing 1st National PIL Drafting Competition. The competition is open only for law students and legal professionals. This is an online competition. All the entries shall be submitted in the registration form itself.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body of the Government of India responsible for enforcing The Competition Act, 2002 and promoting competition throughout India, and preventing activities that have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India. It was established on 14 October 2003.

About the Internship:

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the regular CCI internship program has been suspended for the time being. However, for the benefit of students, the Commission will continue its Online Internship beyond March 2021 and up to June 2021.

For April 2021 to June 2021 Online Internships, eligible applicants whose applications received by 1st of the preceding month (for example, for an internship of April 2021-application should be received by 1st of March 2021, for an internship of May 2021 – application should be received by 1st of April 2021 and for an internship of June 2021- application should be received by 1st of May 2021) shall only be considered.

Project 39A is keen to develop a robust and rewarding internship program that will provide meaningful exposure to the complexities and nuances of the criminal justice system in India. Towards that aim, we are pleased to introduce our second internship policy, under which we seek to accept interns on a rolling basis from March 2021 to March 2022.

About Project 39A:

Project 39A is a formal part of NLU Delhi and undertakes research and pro bono litigation efforts on issues concerning the criminal justice system in India. This effort is inspired by Article 39-A of the Indian Constitution and uses empirical research as an integral part of re-examining the criminal justice system. In its current scope of work, Project 39A aims to trigger new conversations on legal aid, torture, forensics, mental health and criminal law, and the death penalty.

  1. Research:

Our research efforts lay significant emphasis on fieldwork and empirical analysis.

Efforts involve work on various aspects of the following issues:

○ forensic science with a particular focus on DNA forensics
○ legal aid in the criminal justice system
○ mental health and criminal justice
○ torture
○ administration of the death penalty

2. Litigation:

To ensure competent pro bono legal representation for prisoners sentenced to death in various parts of India, irrespective of the crime;

Eligibility:

The internship is open to students in India and other countries, enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or post-graduate programme in the law, humanities, social sciences, management or media and communications. Those enrolled in other programmes may apply but preference will be given to those enrolled in programmes listed above.

Responsibilities:

Candidates will be asked to undertake tasks that may involve assisting with litigation activities, research projects or initiatives in public outreach. While the organisation shall attempt to account for the interests expressed by the interns, it reserves the right to allocate tasks as it deems fit as per its requirements. All members of Project 39A undertake administrative duties and therefore interns will also be expected to assist in administrative matters. Interns will be required to observe the working
hours of Project 39A and work from its offices only.

Duration:

Internships are full-time and for a period of minimum 4 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks. Candidates must indicate the exact dates in their application. Interns shall be based out of our offices on the NLU Delhi campus in Sector14, Dwarka, New Delhi 100078.
While applications for part-time interns are considered, there is a strong preference in favour of full-time interns. Part-time interns, if selected, are required to intern for a minimum of 12 weeks.

Remuneration:

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP:

Leaders from selected organizations will participate in a six-month interactive training program focused on the building blocks of effective and sustainable advocacy. Training topics include understanding and interpreting data and evidence, strategic messaging, multimedia production skills, and community mobilization/engagement best practices. Between monthly training sessions, fellows will use their new skills and knowledge to plan and launch a multimedia campaign focused on a topic of their choice.

Participants will receive coaching and feedback from fellowship staff and senior fellows from Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI), a youth-led institution based in Kano State, Nigeria. Other direct support, including professional mentorship in multimedia skills and grants for equipment and travel will also be available to fellows.

Campaigns may focus on any population, environment, and reproductive health theme, but they must address a challenge that is relevant to fellows’ countries and communities. Possible campaign themes include:

  • sustainable agriculture
  • deforestation
  • pollution or toxic waste
  • preservation of plant and animal species
  • environmental degradation
  • contraception/family planning
  • child marriage
  • female-genital mutilation/cutting
  • gender-based violence
  • HIV and AIDS
  • maternal health

The Making a Difference with Multimedia Fellowship is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and is organized by PRB under the Policy, Advocacy, and Communication Enhanced for Population and Reproductive Health (PACE) project, which recognizes that young people are powerful agents of transformation when armed with effective communication tools and strategies.
