About Gujarat Maritime University

Gujarat Maritime University (GMU) is an endeavor by the Gujarat Maritime Board, Government of Gujarat to provide a fillip to the maritime sector by bridging the knowledge gap within the industry. GMU has been established to serve the global maritime community by producing educated and well-trained professionals in the maritime domain. It aims to enhance and increase the human capital and capacity of the maritime industry both in India and across the globe. To realize these objectives, a short-term online course on International Maritime Law has been designed.

About IQAC, GMU

The IQAC has been established for planning, guiding, and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities at the colleges. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic improvement in the performance of institutions. The IQAC channelizes and systematizes the efforts and measures of an institution towards academic excellence. It is a facilitative and participative organ of the institution. The IQAC at GMU is a driving force for ushering in quality by working out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance quality.

Introduction to the workshop program

The main objective workshop is to cover the basics of research methodology and to highlight the steps involved in writing a research paper and securing publication in a reputed journal. The workshop focuses on the formulation of research questions, hypotheses, and literature review. It also aims to make the participants aware of the use of reference tools, make them aware of the predatory journals, and highlight the importance of research ethics. It also aims to provide participants with solutions to research challenges.

The Supreme Court judge, Justice Mukeshkumar Rasikbhai Shah was in Himachal Pradesh. He was there for a religious trip. According to reports he suffered from a heart attack and then was rushed to Delhi.

He has said through a video that he is fine by God’s grace. The authorities of the Supre Court such as Justice N.V.Ramanna are communicating with him.

Initially, he was an advocate who had enrolled in the Bar Council in 1982. He went on to practice at the Gujarat High Court. He is a specialist in land, constitutional, Education, Excise, and Custom matters.

His journey as a judge started when he was appointed as the additional judge of the Gujarat High Court in 2004. Within a year he was made permanent. After being at the Gujarat High Court for 13 years, in 2018 he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court.

In November 2018 after exercising his responsibilities as CJI of the Patna High Court, he was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge. To date, he has delivered about 100 judgments, mostly on criminal matters.
