The Department of Laws, Panjab University was originally established at Lahore in 1889, re-established at Shimla in 1948, and finally re-located at the University Campus at Chandigarh in 1959.

About the Moot Court Competition

The present moot court competition shall be conducted with the objective to provide learning opportunities to the students. The Department believes in imparting value-added education and thus present event shall help students in enhancing their research skills, writing, and advocacy.

The present moot problem is based on Constitutional Law, Parliamentary Privileges, and their exercise by the members of Parliament.

Eligibility

Students enrolled in a full-time Law Degree Programme i.e. Five-Years Integrated Law Degree Programme or Three-Years LL. B Programme at the time of the competition is eligible to participate in the Competition.
Only One Team shall be eligible to participate from an Institution.

How to submit?

  • The participants as a team are requested to register online from November 10, 2021 through the link given at the end of this post.
  • After this initial registration, team codes shall be allotted and communicated on mail provided in the Form by the participants.
  • The registered teams shall submit their soft copies of memorials of both sides to email departmentoflawspu@gmail.com by December 5, 2021 and the mail should mention the subject ‘Memorials for Team Code X. The Team Codes shall be allotted to the participating team after their initial registration.

Fee Details

  • The registration fees of Rs. 500/- shall be paid later online and a copy of the receipt must be sent to mail i.e. departmentoflawspu@gmail.com
  • Only after payment of registration fees along with a soft copy of the memorial submission, participation of teams shall be confirmed and same shall be communicated to given mail provided in the registration form.

One of the most important objectives entrenched in the Indian Constitution is to ensure political fairness, as stated in the Preamble. Constitutionalism in India has been moulded by the country’s unwavering belief in democratic values and efforts to secure them. Since its inception, the Constitution has successfully met numerous obstacles while remaining true to its purpose of achieving entrenched democracy.

Nonetheless, seventy years later, the functioning of India’s Parliamentary democracy requires a thorough examination. There is a vast range of options available nowadays.

A real and committed commitment on our side can go a long way toward securing our future and fostering a culture of democracy and effective governance.

A two-day national seminar on “Assessing India’s Performance as a Parliamentary Democracy” is being held at the National Law University in Jodhpur. The Seminar will take place over two days, with eminent speakers from around the world discussing and debating the most pressing issues concerning India’s parliamentary democracy. The conference will be held on the Cisco Webex Platform (ONLINE).

About the Job Opportunity

The Contract Review Associate will aid the Lead Contracts Counsel in managing a high volume of agreements and their further processing. Contracts from the various entities and sales representatives will be funneled through this person to legally evaluate which open topics need to be handled by the respective Monotype business units.

Roles and Responsibilities

About National Commission For Women

The National Commission for Women (NCW) is the statutory body of the Government of India, generally concerned with advising the government on all policy matters affecting women. It was established on January 31st, 1992 under the provisions of the Indian Constitution, as defined in the 1990 National Commission for Women Act.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has been set up as a statutory body to further review the Constitutional and Legal safeguards available to women, recommend remedial measures to remove impediments in realizing such goals, facilitate redressal of grievances and advise the Government on all policy matters affecting women. The Commission also organizes workshops/consultations, constitutes expert committees, undertakes studies/make recommendations for economic empowerment of women, conducts workshops/seminars for gender awareness and takes up publicity campaign awareness in the society against such social evils.

Opportunity Details

NCW decided to engage interns in the National Commission for Women with immediate effect, to effectively disseminate knowledge/information on women related issues and build a pool of trained manpower.

An abstract not exceeding 300 words shall be submitted for consideration. In case of co-authorship, each author will have to register separately in the event of participation in the conference.

  • Format: MS Word, Font Type: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12 Point, Line Spacing: 1.5
  • For title of the Paper 14-point capitals may be used
  • Participants are required to submit the full paper in the MS Word format and no other

About  the College

The Bar Council of India approved the establishment of Ramaiah College of Law in Bengaluru in 1995 under the administration of Gokula Education Foundation. At Ramaiah College of Law, we seek to maintain our high standard of quality by providing our students with value-based legal education and training that will prepare them to be professionally competent and socially dedicated legal professionals. The college entered a new phase of its academic journey in 2020, having completed 25 years of experience and accomplishments.

About the Organiser

Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Director (Academics), RCL, oversaw the establishment of the Centre for Women and Child Welfare Policy (CWCWP) in November 2019. Women and children are the focus of the Centre’s efforts. Its main focus is on fulfilling its goals and making future plans.

About the Competition

The Centre for Women and Child Welfare Policy (CWCWP) was formed to enhance research, learning, and training in areas relevant to women and child welfare, in line with Ramaiah College of Law’s vision.

As stated in the aim, the Center would want to take the lead in planning a child-related activity. In that vein, Ramaiah College of Law’s Centre for Women and Child Welfare Policy is hosting a National Level Essay Writing Competition for Students on the subject of Child Abuse.

Submission guidelines

The following are the rules and guidelines for the Essay Writing Competition:

  1. It is an Essay Writing Competition open only for UG Students of Law.
  2. The Essay should be written only in English. The Essay should be an original piece of work and must NOT have been published anywhere else.
  3. The Essay must be word-processed preferably using Microsoft Word, using double line spacing, with each page numbered.
  4. DO NOT include any pictures.
  5. The Essay should NOT exceed 2000 words. [Excluding References].
  6. The Essay must be typed on A4 size electronic page.
  7. The font should be in Times New Roman, and the size of the font should be 12.
  8. The participants can use BLUE BOOK CITATION OR APA 6TH EDITION REFERENCE style for their Essay.
  9. Only one paper per participant must be submitted. Maximum authors for each paper can be only two. In the case of two authors of a winning Essay, the prize money shall be shared between them.
  10. The entry for the Essay Writing Competition must be sent by filling up the Registration link. The registration form link is here:  https://forms.gle/pEhZAoP4zDo7Jf4j6
  11. The Registered participants must send their essays in MS word document via mail to this email address: cwcwp@msrcl.org
  12. Participants must also write their names, class, Institution name in the body of the mail only and attach the essay document which must be named as your essay’s title and nothing else. Participant name or identifying mark must not appear in the Essay.
  13. The participant’s name or any of their identification should NOT be reflected either on the essay cover page or anywhere else in their word document, so that the Essay can be judged without knowing who the participant is.
  14. The last date of Registration is November 13, 2021
  15. The last date to receive entries (i.e., participant’s essay) for evaluation is November 14, 2021
  16. The criteria for evaluation will be based on originality, content, clarity, and overall presentation.
  17. All entries should be the original work of the participant. Any participant found violating rules and regulations will be disqualified from the Competition.
  18. Participants have to send their Essay (PDF) to cwcwp@msrcl.org on or before November 14, 2021’ by 10:00 pm. Any late submission will not be accepted.
  19. Online registration is compulsory for each participant.
  20. The decision of the jury would be final.
