About the Conference

Scientific temperament refers to an individual’s attitude of logical and rational thinking. An individual is considered to have a scientific temper if s/he employs a scientific method of decision-making in everyday life. The term stresses to be a viable method of acquiring knowledge through the application of the method of science. 

Historically Joan of Arc is shown as a victim of Witchcraft.  In recent times also certain shocking news reports have shed light upon incidents that led to human fatalities like Witchcraft and superstitious beliefs worldwide. There is a fine line between superstition and religion and treading that fine line is a challenging task. There rests upon the Law of the land, a responsibility installing such crimes by bringing in stringent regulations.

The present conference is intended to provide a platform to discuss and deliberate the theme in detail during the technical sessions followed by the Panel Discussions being chaired by subject-matter experts.

Objectives of the Conference

Facilitating scholars from various fields with a platform for a detailed discussion on various themes surrounding the topics:

Submission Guidelines

• The abstracts should reach on or before March 31, 2022.
• After the acceptance of the abstract, the full research paper should reach on or before April 9, 2022 on mail Id: csl.researchcommittee@gmail.com along with the soft copy of the registration fees paid and screenshot/soft copy of the fee paid.
• The paper must include a clear mention of the research methodology adopted, major findings, results, implications and key references.

About the e-Conference

The scope of International law has developed over the last few decades and has grown exponentially since the dawn of globalized era. From the regulation of space expeditions to
the question of the division of the ocean floor, and from the protection of human rights to the management of the international financial system, its involvement has spread out from the primary concern with the preservation of peace, to embrace all interests of contemporary international life. International law has developed both horizontally and vertically.

In the dynamic stream of laws, we constantly witness that International law has crossed path with national laws and have thus created a symbiotic relationship to survive in this globalized epoch. Globalization has become synonymous to the spreading of capitalistic regimes all over the world.

While the focus of International Law is primarily on regulating the sovereign states and generally delegates the regulation of MNCs to individual states, the Corporates like Google, Facebook have supplanted sovereign states and they have attained a powerful status in the regime of sovereignty.

The Globalization-corporate nexus has major implications on not just trade and intellectual property rights but on diverse legal regimes like human rights, labour rights, environment and
air and space laws. For the facilitation of trade, commerce, International law has been incorporated into the municipal laws.

Thereby it raises the questions like whether the sovereign states can effectively control corporates through national legislations or whether the International law need to further
develop to empower/guide the states to come up with uniform and harmonized national laws to effectively regulate the activities of MNCs.

Formatting Guidelines

1. The submission must be word-processed and in Times New Roman. The main text should be in font size 12 and footnotes in font size 10, line spacing 1.5 and the text should be justified.

Submission Guidelines

• All submissions must be made in electronic form in Word format (.doc/.docx) only. The submissions shall be mailed to iprchairou@gmail.com with the email subject as ‘OU IPR EDITED BOOK Submission’. Co-authorship is allowed up to a maximum of two persons.
• The word limit for submissions is up to 3000-5000 words exclusive of footnotes along with an Abstract of 250 words.
• The author/s are requested to intimate the proposed topic of the paper at the earliest to iprchairou@gmail.com for confirmation, in order to avoid redundancy.
• The final submission must be accompanied with a Covering Letter stating the Title of the Manuscript; Name, Designation and Affiliation of the author/authors; and Contact details of the author including email and phone number. The author/s shall mention their particulars only in the Covering Letter and not in the manuscript.
• The author/s shall submit a Declaration along with the submission stating that the manuscript is their original work, is in compliance with the research ethics and it is not published/submitted for consideration in any other publication. The author/s shall also submit a brief about themselves in about 100 words along with their submission.
• Proper citation of the sources used in the manuscript must be indicated in the footnotes.
  The editor may make changes that are necessary to meet requirements of space and format.
• Plagiarism in any form shall result in rejection of the submission, and the decision of the Editorial Board in this matter is final and binding.
• Submissions would be subject double-blind peer review and decision of the Editorial Board on selection and publication of the submissions as chapters in the edited book would be final and would be intimated to author/s within one week after submission.

Concept Note for the Conference

In recent times, the discourse on Traditional Knowledge (TK) and Geographical Indications (GI) has assumed a lot of importance. The indigenous, tribal and local communities of India in general and North East India in particular, have developed a wide variety of TK. Local wisdom, TK plays an important role in the sustainable use of local resources and biodiversity conservation.

At an international level, the discussions on TK center around the prevention of bio-piracy and the development of better schemes for bioprospecting. India has started taking steps in this direction in the form of TKDL and legislation that provides for the protection of TK. However, the question remains if the steps are sufficient and if they are not, what other immediate measures should be taken.

Similarly, in the case of GI, India has brought legislation for the registration and better protection of GI products in 1999 which was brought into force in 2003. GI registration of products from India is going on at a steady pace but what remains undisclosed yet is whether the GI tag is bringing any positive change in the marketability of the product or leading to the socio-economic development of the community producing that product.

The conference aims to unite the efforts of academicians, students, researchers, practitioners, to discuss the issues and possibilities of a better protection framework of traditional knowledge, geographical indications of indigenous communities living in India and particularly in North-east India.

• Contributors are requested to initially submit an abstract between 200 – 400 words.

Historically Joan of Arc is shown as a victim of Witchcraft.  In recent times also certain shocking news reports have shed light upon incidents that led to human fatalities like Witchcraft and superstitious beliefs worldwide. There is a fine line between superstition and religion and treading that fine line is a challenging task. There rests upon the Law of the land, a responsibility in stalling such crimes by bringing in stringent regulations.

The present conference is intended to provide a platform to discuss and deliberate the theme in detail during the technical sessions followed by the Panel Discussions being chaired by subject-matter experts.

The development of sports as a tool of entrainment for the human beings has age old history. However, in the contemporary era, apart from being a popular en­trainment activity, it has the importance of various kinds. Many are rele­vant for education, health – physical and mental.

It is a tool of integration and tolerance open to all, regardless of age, language, religion, culture, and provides the opportunity to play by commonly agreed on rules with fairness in success and failure. Such entrainment activity has been coupled with huge commercial value.

Such commercial value has brought various unethical, illegal, and unfair practices including from the spectators. Competitive sports lead to categoriza­tion, ranking, and distinguishing people based on physical attributes eventually creating a stigma.

To understand the commercial value, international sporting events account for more than 3% of the world trade. In the EU, it accounts for 3.7% of the combined GNP of 27-member states of Europe. In India, sports-relat­ed activities contribute approximately 12% to the annual GDP growth.

To regulate these issues, Sports Law as a new sphere emerged in­ternationally and domestically. The entire ecosystem encompasses regulations relating to anti-discrimination, anti-doping, sports federations, taxations, med­ical protocols, and dispute settlement.
