About NCLT

The National Company Law Tribunal is a quasi-judicial body in India that adjudicates issues relating to Indian companies. The tribunal was established under the Companies Act 2013 and was constituted on 1 June 2016 by the government of India and is based on the recommendation of the V. Balakrishna Eradi committee on the law relating to insolvency and the winding up of companies.

About the Opportunity

Applications are invited from Indian nationals to work as a Law Research Associate in NCLT purely on contractual assignments.

Duration of Engagement

  • Initially for 1 (One) year, extendable further depending upon the performance and requirement.
  • The maximum period of engagement as a Law Research Associate on a contract basis in the NCLT will not exceed 3 years.
  • Engagement on a contractual basis will be subject to satisfactory performance and it can be terminated by the Tribunal, without assigning any reason whatsoever at any time. The Short-term contractual assignment shall not confer any right or claim to any regularization or continuance of service.
  • They will not be entitled to any kind of regular leave except casual leave on a pro-rata basis.

Responsibilities

  • Law Research Associate shall function as Research Associate attached to Hon’ble President/Members of NCLT for the purpose of
    • Identification, selection, collection and combination of case laws, citation and judicial pronouncements relevant to specific proceedings,
    • Sitting in court during hearing of matters by the Tribunal and noting down the arguments,
    • Preparing synopsis of the matters listed before the Tribunal,
    • Assisting in preparation of draft judgement if asked for.
  • They shall also be responsible for development, storage and speedy retrieval of such material as per requirement and bunching of similar matters.

Eligibility

  • Law Graduates fresh or experienced who have passed final year LLB examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks from a recognized university.
  • The candidate must be enrolled with any Bar Council.
  • The age of the candidate shall not be above 30 years as on last date of receipt of applications, i.e. on November 1, 2021;
  • The candidate must have knowledge of computer operation including retrieval of desired information from various search engines/processors such as Manupatra, SCC Online, etc.

Salary

  • A Consolidated remuneration of Rs. 40,000/- per month will be paid to the Law Research Associate.
  • He/she will not be entitled to any DA/HRA/residential accommodation or any other allowance.

About the International Research Paper Writing Competition (IRPWC)

KSLR is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access and faculty-student edited flagship journal of Kathmandu School of Law. It aspires to become one of the growth-stimulators for the budding legal scholarship in Nepal, by publishing quality and balanced contents of local, national, regional, international, and universal value. Although KSLR uses a wide-angle lens and acknowledges that its publications may be instrumental for everyone and every field of scientific inquiry, it primarily aims to be an enabling and accessible publication for scholars and professionals who have stakes in the field of law and legal studies. Sample Issues

Following is a sample (non-exhaustive list) of broader issues based on which specific topics
for research may be formulated:

  • Issues within the definition and classification of ‘migration’ and ‘migrants’;
  • Issues within various international legal frameworks applicable to human migration. These include: human rights law, international labour standards, refugee law, the law against transnational organised crimes, environment law (notably the law on climate change), humanitarian law, international health regulation, and such;
  • Relativism in law, policies and practices among states of origin, transit and destination, and the consequential gaps in protection of migrants;
  • The role and functions of inter-governmental organisations and the national government(s) in managing human migration and protecting migrants;
  • Accountability of non-state actors;
  • Legal and policy amendments to address the disruptions in and emerging
  • patterns of human migration in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Eligibility for Authorship

  • The competition is open to students enrolled in bachelors, masters or Ph.D. level of studies, research scholars, and early career academicians with no more than 7 years of experience in their profession.
  • A paper may have up to three authors.
  • Only one submission is allowed per author.

Registration Procedure and Deadline

  • Registration for the competition shall be free of cost.
  • Submission of the research paper shall automatically register author(s) for the competition.

Formatting and Styling

  • The research paper should be submitted as a Word file (.doc/.docx) at the link specified above.

Plagiarism and Referencing

  • The research paper should be the original work of the author(s).
  • The research paper should not have been published elsewhere in significant parts or as a whole. If it has been submitted elsewhere for consideration for publication, the submission must be retracted before submission at IRPWC, and the proof of retraction must be submitted.
  • References must comply with the KSL Comprehensive Style to Legal Citation.

Awards

  • The best paper with the highest scores will receive a corresponding certificate and a cash prize of US $150/- (Inclusive of bank transfer charges wherever applicable).
  • The second-best paper with the second-highest scores will receive a corresponding certificate and a cash prize of US $100/- (Inclusive of bank transfer charges wherever applicable).
  • The third best paper with the third highest scores will receive a corresponding certificate and a cash prize of US $50/- (Inclusive of bank transfer charges wherever applicable).
  • Each outstanding paper falling short of three best scores will be awarded an “Honorary Mention” and receive a corresponding certificate.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • A team shall consist of maximum three members that must include two Speakers and one researcher.
  • Any team, intending to change the team composition of the team shall intimate the Governing Council by sending an e-mail at arbitrationmoot@gdgoenka.ac.in, the change will be allowed on discretion of the Governing Council.
  • Any person, other than three registered team members, is not eligible to join the videoconferencing or the audio-video recording of the oral rounds, and non-compliance is a ground for disqualification.
  • The Researcher may be permitted to argue as Speaker in case any unforeseen event.
  • Prior permission of the organisers of competition in such case shall be mandatory. In case the team fails to inform the university, decision will be final.

  1. Each team shall register to GD Goenka- CIArb (India) International Virtual CommercialArbitration Moot Competition, 2021 by filing registration form, in the prescribed manner by 14 th November, 2021.

About CCL

CCL is a multidisciplinary research centre engaged in socio-legal and policy research, law reforms, system reforms, and advocacy with the state and central governments to ensure accountability for the rights of the child.

The objectives of the Centre are to enable children to be treated as rights holders; to help institutionalize the human rights-based approach into policy, law and practice on children, and to build the capacity of state and civil society for the more effective realization of child rights.

About the Internship Programme

Through its internship programme, the centre aims at inculcating an understanding of child rights through a rights perspective. Interning at CCL provides students with an opportunity to access its library.

Interns are expected to be professional in their conduct and are to abide by the rules and principles of conduct laid down by NLSIU.

Time period of Internship

About the The Magazine Committee of Department of Law

The University of Calcutta’s Department of Law, which was founded in 1909, is one of the oldest legal institutions in South East Asia. The Department’s century-long history offers an enviable roster of renowned figures, including jurists, legal luminaries, Presidents, and politicians, many of whom have played pivotal roles in determining the country’s course.

The MAGAZINE is published by the Department’s Magazine Committee, which is made up of students from the University of Calcutta’s Department of Law. The committee takes pride in allowing law students to completely express their ideas, thoughts, and artwork without being constrained by the requirement that they be technically legal in character.

About the Magazine: The Muses

“The Muses” is the official online bi-annual publication of the Department of Law, University of Calcutta, produced and edited by students, which chronicles all activities under the umbrella of the school and presents a picture of the institute’s and students’ yearly endeavours. This journal gives students a chance to show off their artistic, scientific, literary, and academic abilities.

Eligibility

The Muses is accepting submissions from everybody. The Magazine is accepting submissions from all. Including individuals not enrolled as students of Department of Law, University of Calcutta.

Submission Guidelines:

All submissions should be made to dolcu.themuses@gmail.com

1. The magazine will accept opinion pieces, prose, poems, travelogues, essays, book and film reviews, and articles.

2. Please mention your name, semester, and institutional affiliation in the submission mail.

Last Date: 31st December, 2021. 

Written submissions:

  1. Should be submitted in a pdf and an editable word format.
  2. Word limit: 5000 words.
  3. The magazine allows up to three co-authors. 
  4. The magazine will only accept submissions in English.
  5. Citations should be referenced in a bibliography format. 

Types of submissions: 

Fiction: Stories, Poems 

Non-fiction: Articles, Essays, Opinion Pieces, Travelogues, Book and Film Reviews. 

Photographs, paintings/digital art:

Should be submitted in a jpeg format, in the highest resolution possible. 

Perks: 

  • All those contributors whose pieces will be published in the magazine will get an e-Certificate of Publication.
  • Sexually explicit, overtly political, and plagiarised  submissions will be rejected.
