I. NATIONAL ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

The School of Law, Justice, and Governance, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida in collaboration with CELMAR and LAC is pleased to announce the National Essay Writing Competition. The competition encourages critical thinking, which is the process of reflecting on a problem and coming to a resolution. It encourages students to evaluate various arguments in order to develop stronger perspectives.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from any recognized university across India.
  • One author can only submit one entry for the competition, all subsequent entries will be disqualified by default.
  • Incomplete and plagiarized submissions would also result in immediate disqualification.
  • No restriction on the number of entries from any college or university.
  • Only Individual Participation is allowed

II. CASE PROBLEM ANALYSIS

The event of “Problem Analysis” is being organized by the School of Law, Justice, and Governance, CELMAR and LAC of Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida with the theme of the proposition based on ‘Environmental Law and Constitutional Law’.
Noise Pollution is one of the major concerns of scientists nowadays. Its effect on human health and welfare is recently considered as an important and vital issue which encourages scientists and interested agencies all over the world, such as World Health Organisation (WHO), to conduct more researches concerning the assessment of its levels and harmful effects.
The competition deals with the similar aspect of problems arising due to noise pollution attached with a proposition mentioned below which is needed to be reviewed, analyzed in order to find out cost-effective and innovative solutions for the management of environmental issues dealt in the proposition along with the touch of Constitutional laws and Environmental laws. The event aims to spread public awareness among the people about the rising concern of
Environment problems and gives a platform for providing an effective solution for the same.

About International Conference on ‘Reproductive Choice of Women: A Fundamental Right’

It is important to promote public awareness about women’s basic human rights, with a particular focus on reproductive rights. We will only be capable of building a society that honours, protects, and guarantees basic human rights to its women if we educate at the local and state level.

Objectives of the Conference

  • To create awareness in the grass root level that reproductive rights are fundamental human rights.
  • To build a platform for open discussion regarding reproductive health of women.

Expected Outcomes of the Conference:

  • A report suggesting policy reforms

  • The abstract should not exceed 300 words and must include keywords. Abstracts received on or before 30th October 2021 shall be published in the seminar proceedings
  • The length of the full paper shall be between 5000 to 8000 words (excluding footnotes).
  • Full paper should be submitted on or before 22nd November 2021.
  • Selected full papers presented in the Conference shall be published in a book by December 2021.
  • In case of co-authorship (maximum two), each author will have to register separately by paying the registration fee. The certificate will be given only to registered author.

  • Intellectual property (IP) law or issues directly or indirectly related to IP must be the focus of submissions. IP Law post accepts both analytical papers on recent developments and pieces that explore new perspectives on long-standing IP law debates.
  • Submissions must be the author’s original work (s). Plagiarism will be checked on all submissions. A maximum of two authors can collaborate on a paper.
  • Submissions on issues that have been previously covered in the blog will not be accepted, unless they bring forth fresh perspectives, arguments or opinions contrary to previously published content.
  • We accept submissions on a rolling basis. When it comes to deciding whether or not to accept a submission, the Editorial Board has complete discretion.
  • Submissions should be between 800-1500 words in length (exclusive of references). Longer write-ups may be split into multi-part posts, in consultation with the editors (all parts of the write-up will have to be submitted together).
  • Authors should stick to English language and wherever statements have been made in other languages, adequate translation should be provided.
  • References must be in the form of hyperlinks to relevant legal sources and background information, including any judgments, legislations, treaties or other legal texts which are mentioned. Hyperlinks must link only to legal or respected news sources.

About School of Agricultural Law and Economics, RGNLU

School of Agricultural Law and Economics (SALE) is a Center of excellence established with an object to provide a platform for multidimensional analysis of the agricultural sector in connotation to legal, social, political and cultural paradigms.
The School of Agricultural Law and Economics encompasses the study of the law which focuses on the special rules and exceptions made for agriculture. It basically aims at focusing on how agricultural laws can be used to serve the diverse and competent interests of the agricultural society.

About the debate competition

The 1st National Level Debate Competition, organised by the School of Agriculture Law & Economics, RGNUL, Punjab, will be based on the Lincoln-Douglas debate format i.e., one on one debate in order to promote individualism amongst the participants. Through this competition, we aim at providing the students with a platform to hone their debating skills and improve the whole debating experience by ensuring that the participants meet with challenging issues based on contemporary and developing aspects of law and society. The competition strives to provide a safe platform for students to grow and experiment with their communication skills and critical thinking abilities.

The competition shall comprise of 3 stages:

Preliminary Round

4+1 minutes to speak. Timings will be displayed on the screen twice, once after 1 minute and second after another 3 minutes.
Rebuttal: 1 minute to each participant.

Semi finals and final rounds

Lincoln-Douglas Format

1 vs 1 format (Lincoln-Douglas Format)

The Lincoln-Douglas debate is dedicated to questions that are of a deep moral or philosophical nature. The debate format for a Lincoln-Douglas debate is one-on one.

  • Affirmative Constructive – 6 minutes
  • Cross-Examination by negative – 3 minutes
  • Negative Constructive – 6 minutes
  • Cross-Examination by positive – 3 minutes
  • First Affirmative Rebuttal – 4 minutes
  • Negative Rebuttal – 4 minutes

Total Speaking time for each Speaker- 13 minutes

Preparation time: 30 Minutes.

GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITION

  • A New Motion will be Provided 30 minutes before each Oral round.
  • The participants will be informed about their stand, i.e., either “For the Motion”or “Against the Motion”, 30 minutes before starting that particular round, through the WhatsApp group.
  • The medium of debate is strictly English.
  • The participant must maintain professional decorum at all times throughout the competition. The use of abusive or profane language will immediately disqualify the participant.
  • Individual scores of each round will be released after the completion of the respective round.
  • Each participant will be allotted a unique code for further reference and communication. The participant will be required to use that code only. In case any participant is found disclosing his/her identity, he or she will be immediately disqualified from the competition

The decision of the judges invited for evaluation will be final and binding.

About the Law school

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (‘RGNUL’), Punjab was established as a National Law University by a legislative act of the state of Punjab in 2006 in order to fulfill the need for a centre of excellence in legal education.

ABOUT CASIHR

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Human Rights (‘CASIHR’) is a research centre under the aegis of RGNUL, Punjab. The Centre’s primary objective is to undertake, support and promote advanced study and interdisciplinary research on the emerging trends in human rights and its allied fields. It endeavours to encourage debates and discussions on the matters that gyrate around the human rights at regional, national and international level so as to contribute paradigm shift in the cognitive understanding of these issues.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Human Rights (‘CASIHR’), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab invites articles, case comments and book reviews for Volume 5, Issue 2 of the CASIHR Journal on Human Rights Practice (‘CASIHR JHRP’).
To provide a platform for more pointed, specialized and diverse inputs and analyses, the adherence to a rigid thematic issue has been dispensed with. Therefore, this particular volume is not theme specific in nature and authors are free to write on any topic relevant to the field of Human Rights.
The manuscripts received will, after initial screening, go through a double blind peer review process by relevant academicians and experts. Final selection will be based on the aforementioned process.

Authors are free to write on any subject of their choice provided it remains within the ambit of Human Rights and adds to contemporary discourse regarding the same.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submissions can be made under the following heads:

  • Long Articles – Word limit of 6000 words.
  • Short Articles – Word Limit of 4000 to 4500 words.
  • Case Comments – Word Limit of 1500 to 2000 words.
  • Book Reviews – Word limit of 2000 to 2500 words.

The word limit is exclusive of footnotes.
Our forum is an egalitarian space and submissions are welcome from human right researchers, academicians, practitioners, members of civil society organizations and policymakers.

Submission format

All the contributors must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All Submissions must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 300 words.
  • The body of the document must be in Times New Roman with a font size of 12 and Line Spacing of 1.5.
  • All the footnotes should be in Times New Roman, Font Size 10 and with single line spacing.
  • The citations must conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Edition).
  • Co-authorship is permissible up to a maximum of two authors.
  • All submissions are required to be mailed in .doc/.docx format only.

Submissions which do not adhere to the guidelines provided shall not be considered for review. Submissions which meet all the requirements would go through a peer review process conducted by academicians, professionals and other experts in the field of Human Rights and only the recommended works would be published.

ABOUT

The Centre for Environmental Law, Advocacy and Research (CELAR) of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA), is inviting scholastic submissions for Issue 37 onwards for Lex Terra (ISSN: 2455-0965), their monthly online publication (“webzine”). Since its inception, Lex Terra has published 33 issues on various debatable facets of the environment and environment-related analytical items. Several academicians, practitioners, and students have contributed to the webzine. Through Lex Terra, they endeavour to facilitate better and greater ideas to create a community of environmentally conscious individuals from the legal and non-legal fraternity. Lex Terra is committed to free and open access to all academic research. No publication fees will be charged to authors at any stage of the review. In addition, no subscription costs will be charged to readers. About the Competition

On October 29, 2021, the Constitutional Club of GGSIPU (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) will host a virtual quiz on the topic of “Azadi: The Struggle to Make India Independent.”

Eligibility

Students from UGC-approved universities and colleges are welcome to join.

Rule and guidelines

  • There is no cost to register.
  • A certificate and a cash prize will be given to the competition winner(s).
  • The organising team’s decisions are final and binding.
  • Any participant who violates any of the guidelines outlined here or elsewhere will be disqualified immediately.
  • A maximum of 100 people can participate; first come, first served.
  • There will be two rounds in the contest: a preliminary round and a final round (which shall further consist of an Eliminatory Round, and a Bounce & Pounce Round).

The Quiz Competition’s Format

  • Preliminary Round: The preliminary round will consist of a timed online MCQ test with a total of 25 questions. The online MCQ test will have a time limit of 10 minutes to complete.
  • Final Round: The final round will be conducted via Zoom video conference. At all times, the participants must have their videos turned on. The quizmaster and the proctoring team must always be able to see their face and hands. Any inconsistency may result in disqualification.
  • The final round would be conducted in two phases – Eliminatory Round and Bounce and Pounce Round.
    1. Eliminatory Round: The top 12 participants of the Preliminary Round would participate in the Eliminatory Round which will consist of three rounds in total. The round will have direct questions which will be directed in a sequential manner.
    2. Bounce and Pounce Round: The top 7 participants of the Eliminatory Round will compete in the Bound and Pounce Round which will consist of 7 rounds in total. The round will have direct questions which will be directed in a sequential manner.

Virtual Debate competition

The UP Judicial Reform Council will hold its first-ever online debate competition. The competition’s goal is to provide a platform for students from various universities to come together and express themselves through well-thought-out arguments backed up by compelling evidence. Students will be able to hone their oratory skills by participating in a meaningful debate on important legal issues as part of this competition.

The Theme – Anti-Conversion Law

Precise theme- UP Anti-conversion Law- Good or Bad Law? 

On October 30, 2021, at 4 p.m., the debate competition will be held online via Google Meet.

Eligibility

To be eligible for participation, candidates must be enrolled in a graduate professional programme.

Time and Language

  • Each participant will have a maximum of 5 minutes to speak (4 minutes for constructive speech and 1 minute for rebuttal).
  • If the time limit is exceeded, the team’s overall score will be affected.
  • Participants have to speak only in English.

Marking Criteria

The participants will be evaluated depending on Matter, Manner, and Method by a panel of judges. The judges’ decision shall be final and irrefutable.

Guidelines

  1. The debate will take place entirely online.
  2. On the 27th of October, the participants were notified whether they will be speaking FOR or AGAINST the motion.
  3. The Debate Organizing Committee reserves the right to make changes to the rules/regulations at any time, and those changes will be binding.
  4. Winners and participants will receive e-certificates to their registered email addresses.
  5. The following steps must be followed by all participants:
    1. Join the Google Meetup community. ten minutes before the scheduled start time.
    2. Turn off their videos and mute their microphones until it’s their turn to speak.
    3. Refrain from speaking to the audience or other teams unless they have been assigned to you.
    4. During the programme, refrain from sharing your screen.
    5. Avoid reading continuously from a paper or electronic device. The participant will be automatically disqualified if he or she engages in such behaviour.
  6. Ensure that you have good internet access for a better learning experience.

Registration

  • Participants must submit the Online Registration Form by October 25, 2021, in the prescribed format. It is necessary to keep the confirmation for the same.
