About the Law Fest

Indore Institute of Law with full pride and head held high, organized India’s 1st National Law Fest Lex Bonanza back in the year 2012 and earned great laurels among the academicians, students, and philanthropists. It provided a platform for students to showcase their legal skills and to develop their personalities. This Law Fest helped the Indore Institute of Law to occupy the position of prominence in the globalized world.

This Law Fest has now become a legacy since the year 2012. The VI edition of Law fest in 2017 added another feather to the cap as it went International. Teams from Nottingham, U.K., and Eastern University, Dhaka, Bangladesh participated in this edition. Furthermore, the VII Chapter of Lex Bonanza was witnessed in the year 2018 with the huge participation of 28 teams inclusive of international teams from the University of Nigeria and Eastern University, Bangladesh.

International Parliamentary Debate Competition

Indore Institute of Law here introduces you to the 3-on-3 Asian Parliamentary Debating rules in the Parliamentary Debate Competition. Every round will consist of two teams; one team to advance in motion and one to oppose it. The team advancing the motion is known as “The Proposition‟, “The Affirmative” or “The Government”. The opposing team is known as “The Opposition‟ or “The Negative”. Teams will be assigned as the Proposition or the Opposition for each round of the competition. The panel shall judge the debate which consists of the odd numbers of the adjudicators who will also be the participants.

  • All submissions must be made in the electronic form to cclpnewsletter@nuals.ac.in under the subject heading “Submission: The Competition law e-Newsletter”.
  • The body of the mail shall contain details of the author [full name, semester & course (if a student)], university/organization/freelancer (specify) and contact number.
  • Submissions must be made before December 30, 2021.
  • The submissions must be original works and should not have been published or be in consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • All submissions are subject to a plagiarism check, if the work is found to be unoriginal the submission will be rejected. (Maximum plagiarism allowed is 10%.) The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject any work during the review process if it is found to be unoriginal or not meeting the standards set by the editorial board.
  • Co-authorship of a maximum of two people is permitted.
  • Authors should submit a ‘Declaration of Originality’ along with the submissions.
  • The Declaration form can be found here.
  • CCLP reserves all rights over the submissions.

  • All submissions are to be made in .doc/.docx/.odt format. PDF submissions are not accepted.

On the auspicious day of Human Rights Day, i.e., December 10, 2021, Centre For Research and Human Rights, DNLU is organizing National Quiz Competition on Human Rights in association with Jigyasa – The Quiz Club of DNLU.

The manuscript submitted by the author(s) must adhere to the following font styles:

  • The text should be justified.

Citation Style

The author(s) are requested to provide the link of the sources which have been cited by them in the main body and are required to follow the OSCOLA citation method (4th edition). The citations should be in Numeric Form, Font Times New Roman, Size 10, and in single line spacing. Endnotes are not to be used.

Other Instructions

  • Authors are requested to give an undertaking that the manuscripts submitted are original pieces of work and has not been plagiarized nor has been published or is in consideration for publishing in any other places.
  • All submissions must be accompanied by a Covering Letter mentioning the submission category, the title of the manuscript, institutional affiliation, and contact details of the author(s) (Name, year of the study, name of institution, etc.).

The Corporate Law Society of National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur is pleased to announce the 6th Pranita Mehta Memorial Essay Competition, 2022 in memory of Ms. Pranita Mehta, an exceptional student of NLU, Jodhpur.

Eligibility Criteria

All students pursuing under-graduate (three/five year) or post-graduate law degrees from any law school/university/college recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate in the Competition.

About Ms Pranita Mehta

An epitome of excellence and diligence, Ms Pranita Mehta was an outstanding student at NLU, Jodhpur (Batch of 2017). She had been a part of the CLS since its inception and was associated with the Society as an Adviser in 2016.

In addition to leading a formidable academic career both at school and university, she was second to none when it came to extra-curricular activities. Throughout her time in NLU, Jodhpur, Pranita performed exceptionally well in her academic endeavours and was the recipient of several accolades at various international moot court competitions.

  • In case a participant is submitting an assignment/project, which has been submitted to their university’s Turnitin repository, CLS requires the participants to submit the associated Turnitin report via email indicating that the plagiarism percent is less than 25%.

About the Competition

The firm is organizing its 2nd Essay Writing Competition. The topic for this year’s Essay Writing Competition, as below: “Ambit and scope of accountability/liability of a public officer, in India, in the event of failure to perform public duties or to protect the fundamental rights while discharging public duties“. The aim of the competition is to promote lawyers as the inventors of social transformation, which always requires a shift in the collective consciousness of society and hence new inventions in the field of law through lawyers.

It is open to all law students, advocates, legal professionals, journalists and academicians and to all those who are interested in other related fields.

About the Theme

Article 34 of the German Constitution provides for liability for violation of official duty. Under the provision, if any person, in the exercise of a public office entrusted to him, violates his official duty towards a third party, liability shall rest principally with the state or public body that employs him. In the event of intentional wrongdoing or gross negligence, the right of recourse against the individual officer shall be preserved. The ordinary courts should not be closed to claims for compensation or indemnity.

Many other countries have guaranteed such rights in their Constitutions. The essay writing competition invites/calls for articles on the important subject of accountability of offices holding Public Officers, especially Civil Servants, Central/State Governments, PSU’s, Nationalized Banks, and other officers who use public money for the public cause.

Prizes

  • Winner: Rs. 10,000/-  along with a Certificate of Appreciation.
  • First Runner-up: Rs. 5,000/-  along with a Certificate of Appreciation.
  • Second Runner-up: Rs. 3,000/-  along with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry was established in the year 1972 by the Government of Puducherry and presently it is affiliated to Pondicherry University and approved by Bar Council India.

About the Moot Competition

Being a pioneering institution in India to conduct Moot Court Competitions, Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry frequently conducts national level moot court competitions every year on various themes with the objective to train the law students about
the practical aspects of court procedure.

During the competition, law students/participants are divided into teams and they are required to argue on a specific problem before a panel of Judges in the same manner as done in a Court of Law so that they can hone their advocating skills and prosper well in the legal profession. The best performers are given cash awards in the presence of Dignitaries. The Institution has been conducting National Moot Court Competition since its inception and so far conducted 45 National Level Moot Court Competitions including  5 Regional Language (Tamil) Moot Court Competitions and one All India Women Moot Court Competition exclusively for girls student.

Eligibility

Participation is restricted to bona fide undergraduate students of 5 years/ 3 years LLB programme of any University/College/Institution (recognised by the Bar Council of India).

Registration Procedure

  • Institutions that are interested in sending a team to participate in this Moot Court Competition are required to send an e-mail to draglc.pdy.mcs@gmail.com to provisionally register for the same.
  • The last date for provisional registration is December 27, 2021. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the colleges that send in the provisional registration mails.
  • The participating team must submit the hard copy of the Registration Form along with DD and travel form on or before January 6, 2022.
  • The Registration Form along with the demand draft should be sent by post to The Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Mathur Road, Kalapet, Puducherry – 605014.

The Moot Proposition is based on Cyber Law. The problem also covers all aspects of Data Privacy and Contemporary changes that took place regarding the regulation of Data.

Eligibility

Students of 3-year or 5-year integrated law degree or of postgraduate law courses from any University/Law School/College/Department are eligible to participate in the Competition.

2 teams can participate from the same University/Law School/College/Department.

Language

The official language for the Moot Court Competition shall be English only.
