About the Parliamentary Debate Competition, La-Liberta
LITIGIUM, The Student-governed Debating Society of JLU School of Law, Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal is organizing its Inaugural edition of Parliamentary Debate Competition “LA-LIBERTA 2.0”, which is scheduled from 27th to 29th November, 2021.
The aim of this Competition is to foster the debating culture in the Educational Institutes participating. This competition is a golden opportunity for all the debaters who wish to improve their Debating Skills and develop their overall personality.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to the Students enrolled in U.G. & P.G. Courses.
Format
The format of the debate will be Asian Parliamentary Debate (AP). Each participating team must consist of three students (Institutional and Cross Institutional teams may register).Adjudicators for the competition may be institutional or independent.

1st National Debate Competition has been conceived with the aim to give exposure to the students to comprehend complex situations and identify the legal problems or lacunae in their topic. This competition can help students in reaching the conclusion of any case by adopting any particular approach. This competition aims to break the shackles of regionalism and bring together brilliant minds from all across the nations on to a single platform, providing them the opportunity to speak their hearts out on the issues of significant relevance. Date and Time: The dates of the competition are 27th and 28th November 2021. It will be conducted online over Zoom or Google Meet. Details of the same will be shared shortly. Topic
Data Privacy: A fundamental right or a subordinate right For the motion- Data privacy is and has to be a fundamental right for all individuals Against the motion- Data privacy should be Subordinate, Non an essential Right Note: The topic will be the same, however, the sides will be switched for the final rounds. For instance, If a participant has spoken for the motion in the preliminary rounds, then he/she will have to speak against the motions in the finals and vice-versa.
Eligibility & Team Composition
This shall be an online event. At present students/participants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, i.e., 3-year LL.B/ 5-year LL.B/6-year LL.B course from any recognized college or university or pursuing LL.M from any recognized university or preparing for the judiciary. Individual and Team registrations are allowed. Participation in teams (2 members) is allowed. Team members can be from different universities/colleges. AwardsBest Speaker prize: Rs 2,000/- & an E-Certificate of Merit Second Best Speaker prize: Rs. 1,100/- & an E-Certificate of Merit All finalists will be awarded an E-Certificate of Merit. All finalists will be offered an opportunity to get their write-ups published in TLI Journal of Cybercrimes, IPR, and technology laws.

Rules of the Competition:
The medium of debate is strictly English.
The participant must maintain the professional decorum at all times throughout the competition.
Each speaker shall keep their cameras and mics on throughout the round, especially when he/she is speaking (including the rebuttals). Further, each participant, once have joined the link, shall keep their cameras on throughout the round.
Each speaker shall be given a time of 3 minutes for speaking for/against the motion and 1 minutes for rebuttal. Further, 2 marks shall be deducted for each minute a speaker exceeds the above mentioned time limits.
The Organising team may take appropriate action against any participant involved in the act of use of any electronic devices (other than the device used for joining the link of the competition) during the competition.
Use of abusive or profane language will immediately disqualify the participant.Individual scores of each round will be released after completion of the respective round.
Each participant will be allotted a unique code for further reference and communication. The participant will be required to use that code only. In case any participant is found disclosing his/her identity, he or she will be immediately disqualified from the competition.
The decision of the judges invited for evaluation will be final and binding.
The Government of Tamil Nadu established the Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) by an Act of State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012) to deliver quality legal education at a global level. TNNLU is located in Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, on a 25-acre campus.
About the Debate
They want to provide an excellent debating experience to prepare you for Nepal Australs 2021, with a stellar Core Adjudication Panel and enticing cash rewards. Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the event will be held online this year.

The tournament is open to all participants (Institutional contingents, Open/Cross teams, Independent Adjudicators) and we encourage international teams to apply as well.

About School of Agricultural Law and Economics, RGNLU
School of Agricultural Law and Economics (SALE) is a Center of excellence established with an object to provide a platform for multidimensional analysis of the agricultural sector in connotation to legal, social, political and cultural paradigms. The School of Agricultural Law and Economics encompasses the study of the law which focuses on the special rules and exceptions made for agriculture. It basically aims at focusing on how agricultural laws can be used to serve the diverse and competent interests of the agricultural society.
About the debate competition
The 1st National Level Debate Competition, organised by the School of Agriculture Law & Economics, RGNUL, Punjab, will be based on the Lincoln-Douglas debate format i.e., one on one debate in order to promote individualism amongst the participants. Through this competition, we aim at providing the students with a platform to hone their debating skills and improve the whole debating experience by ensuring that the participants meet with challenging issues based on contemporary and developing aspects of law and society. The competition strives to provide a safe platform for students to grow and experiment with their communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
The competition shall comprise of 3 stages:
Preliminary Round
4+1 minutes to speak. Timings will be displayed on the screen twice, once after 1 minute and second after another 3 minutes. Rebuttal: 1 minute to each participant.
Semi finals and final rounds
Lincoln-Douglas Format
1 vs 1 format (Lincoln-Douglas Format)
The Lincoln-Douglas debate is dedicated to questions that are of a deep moral or philosophical nature. The debate format for a Lincoln-Douglas debate is one-on one.
Affirmative Constructive – 6 minutes
Cross-Examination by negative – 3 minutes
Negative Constructive – 6 minutes
Cross-Examination by positive – 3 minutes
First Affirmative Rebuttal – 4 minutes
Negative Rebuttal – 4 minutes
Total Speaking time for each Speaker- 13 minutes
Preparation time: 30 Minutes.
GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITION
A New Motion will be Provided 30 minutes before each Oral round.
The participants will be informed about their stand, i.e., either “For the Motion”or “Against the Motion”, 30 minutes before starting that particular round, through the WhatsApp group.

Virtual Debate competition
The UP Judicial Reform Council will hold its first-ever online debate competition. The competition’s goal is to provide a platform for students from various universities to come together and express themselves through well-thought-out arguments backed up by compelling evidence. Students will be able to hone their oratory skills by participating in a meaningful debate on important legal issues as part of this competition.
The Theme – Anti-Conversion Law
Precise theme- UP Anti-conversion Law- Good or Bad Law?
On October 30, 2021, at 4 p.m., the debate competition will be held online via Google Meet.
Eligibility
To be eligible for participation, candidates must be enrolled in a graduate professional programme.
Time and Language
Each participant will have a maximum of 5 minutes to speak (4 minutes for constructive speech and 1 minute for rebuttal).
If the time limit is exceeded, the team’s overall score will be affected.
Participants have to speak only in English.
Marking Criteria
The participants will be evaluated depending on Matter, Manner, and Method by a panel of judges. The judges’ decision shall be final and irrefutable.
Guidelines
The debate will take place entirely online.
On the 27th of October, the participants were notified whether they will be speaking FOR or AGAINST the motion.
The Debate Organizing Committee reserves the right to make changes to the rules/regulations at any time, and those changes will be binding.
Winners and participants will receive e-certificates to their registered email addresses.
The following steps must be followed by all participants:
Join the Google Meetup community. ten minutes before the scheduled start time.
Turn off their videos and mute their microphones until it’s their turn to speak.
Refrain from speaking to the audience or other teams unless they have been assigned to you.
During the programme, refrain from sharing your screen.
Avoid reading continuously from a paper or electronic device. The participant will be automatically disqualified if he or she engages in such behaviour.
Ensure that you have good internet access for a better learning experience.

Participants must submit the Online Registration Form by October 25, 2021, in the prescribed format. It is necessary to keep the confirmation for the same.

By facilitating informed policy debates at various levels, it aims to drive a progressive narrative in India’s policy discourse.
Theme of the competition
The dynamic nature of the internet requires us to revisit the traditional frameworks and explore more enabling policies for regulating competition in digital space. To encourage critical thinking and public speaking on inter-disciplinary issues the motion for the rounds will be based on ‘Competition Law in the Digital Space.’
Guidelines for the Competition
2 vs 2 format
Participants are encouraged to register in a team of two, however in exceptional cases one can register individually as well. The OC will match the individual registrants through randomised allotment a day before the rounds.
6 minutes will be given to each speaker
1.5 minutes will be given to each team for rebuttals

Motions for all the pre break rounds will be released 24 hours in advance
Eligibility Criteria
Students/research scholars enrolled in any UG/PG/Ph.D. course from any university are eligible to participate in the competition.
Note: Prior knowledge of law is not prerequisite for participation. The motions will be framed keeping in mind the interests of all the participants and short explainers shall also be released by the organisers on their social media platforms to assist the participants in their preparation.
