DSNLU is both delighted and obliged to conduct Sri Damodaram Sanjivayya Centenary International Moot Court Competition. This competition is very special to us as our institution is named after Sri Damodaram Sanjivayya, who was the former Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and was also the first dalit Chief Minister of an Indian state and it is his 100th birth anniversary this year. His work towards inherent social problems inspired us to conduct this moot court competition.

About the Competition

Post-Graduate Department (LL.M), ILS Law College, Pune, in collaboration with Eastern Book Company and SCC Online announces the National Book Chapter Appreciation Competition 2021-2022.

The Competition aims to test the research, comprehension, critical and writing skills of the students.

Eligibility

The Competition is open for Students of 4th & 5th Year of the 5-Year Law Course and 2nd & 3rd year of the 3-Year Law Course and Post Graduate Students (LL.M).

Case Alternative Choice

  • The cases shall be disclosed only to the registered participants via email on December 13, 2021.
  • The cases are primarily based on the theme of family law, personal law, and gender.

About the Essay Competition

To stimulate interest and foster growth of arbitration jurisprudence, Kachwaha and Partners initiated an All India article writing competition on the subject of arbitrations (Arb Excel) in 2011-12. Following the healthy response, the event was made an annual feature.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Competition is open for the 3rd, 4th and 5th year students in the five year law course and the 2nd and final year students in the three year law course.
  • Note: It is not open to LL.M students

Subject

  • There is no prescribed theme/topic. The participants are free to choose a topic so long it is in the field of arbitration.

  • Commencement of submission: October 1, 2021

  • Declaration of results: May 2, 2022

  • 1st prize: Rs. 1 lakh

Submission Procedure:

  • All submissions should be made in an electronic form at akhushu@kaplegal.com 
  • The participants are required to submit two separate attachments. Attachment 1 should contain the following documents:
    • Proof of author having met the eligibility criteria in Para I above (e.g. college identity card; certificate from the Head of Institute).
    • Self-declaration by the participant that the work submitted is original in all respects.
    • Self-certificate that the work has not yet been published or otherwise put in the public domain.
  • The article should be submitted as Attachment 2 in a word format along with the following documents in the sequence mentioned below:
    • Page 1 – title page
    • Page 2 – short extract / summary of the article
    • Article
  • The title page should have the following details:
    • Article title
    • Author’s name and contact particulars
    • College name and address
    • Email id for future correspondence
  • The summary / short extract should not exceed 250 words (which would not be counted in the word limit for main article).
  • The co-ordinator will within five working days acknowledge receipt of the article. If you do not receive an acknowledgment, please contact the co-ordinator.

Word Limit and Formatting

  • Article length should be between 3500 – 4500 words (excluding footnotes).
  • The article should be submitted in word format only.
  • The article and extract should be written in 12 pt calibre font with 1 inch margin on all sides, 1.5 paragraph spacing and a footer numbering pages as “page x of y”.
  • Footnotes should be on the same page. Authors should not use supra, infra, ibid and should give full reference of the citation/ authority/ reference etc. wherever applicable.
  • Avoid extensive footnotes or extensive quotations. Reference or paraphrasing of thoughts and ideas from standard works are acceptable without quotations, provided they are duly acknowledged in footnotes or otherwise as may be suitable.

General

  • Each article must reflect author’s own research, writing and original thinking.
  • Articles will be evaluated on the basis of original thinking, grasp of the subject, writing skills and choice of topic. The articles will be judged by the partners of the firm.
  • Any copyright infringement / plagiarism shall result in automatic disqualification. The firm reserves the right to recall any prize if it is discovered later that the article suffered from any copyright infringement/plagiarism. Please do make full disclosure if the article is largely a result of a project in which the author was involved with the others.
  • All rights including copyright will vest with the author. The firm will not publish any entry for public viewing but may publish a summary of the prize winning entries on their website.
  • Each participant can submit one article only.
  • Joint submission and co-authorship is not acceptable.
  • The firm will preserve the entries for six months and may delete the same thereafter.
  • The decision of the firm shall be final and binding on all participants.
  • Participants are deemed to have read and fully understood all terms and conditions at the time of submission of entry.
  • The queries, if any, must be sent latest by November 19, 2021. Queries sent thereafter will not be entertained by the Co-ordinators.

About SLL

The Society of Law and Literature, National Law University Odisha, Cuttack was established in the year 2020. The Society seeks to create an atmosphere where literature is to be read and promoted through artwork, theatre, article writing, article/book review, film making, street play and the analysis of the literary aspect of judgments.

The Event

The quiz will be conducted online and seeks to test participants’ knowledge of literary classics, poetry, as well as modern cinematic representations such as movies and shows. The questions will revolve around the theme, plots and trivia about such literary works.

General Guidelines

About Competition

Law and Technology have often shared a unique relationship. Not only does law seeks to govern various operational aspects in the usage of technology, it has also used technology for the purposes of its implementation. Technological advancements have often posed various challenges to the law which the latter is frequently struggling with. The School of Law, Bennett University is conducting its Fourth National Moot Court Competition from February 11 to 13, 2022 which revolves around this theme of law and technology focusing on the constitutionality of cryptocurrency. The Moot Court Competition aims to dwell upon this infamous relationship between Law and Technology and its implication on the legal system.

Eligibility

  • Only regular students enrolled in a 5-year integrated undergraduate law programme or 3-year graduate law programme are eligible to register for the competition.
  • Each team shall consist of two speakers and one researcher.

Registration Procedure

  1. Teams shall register for the competition on or before 23:59 Hours, December 25, 2021 by sending an email with the subject â€˜Registration for Bennett National Moot Court Competition 2022’ to bnmcc@bennett.edu.in after completing the online registration form.
  2. The registration fee for the competition is Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only) per team.

About the School of Legal Studies, Om Sterling Global University

About the Moot

The School of Legal Studies is organizing International Virtual Moot Court Competition 2021, scheduled to be held on January 28 and 29, 2021.

The present moot court competition shall be conducted with the objective to provide learning opportunities to the students. The School of Legal Studies, OSGU  believes in imparting value-added education and thus present event shall help students in enhancing their research skills, writing and advocacy. The present moot problem is based on Constitutional Law and, Human Rights law.

Participation Guidelines

  • Eligibility Criteria: Students enrolled in a full-time Law Degree Programme i.e. Five-Years Integrated Law Degree Programme or Three-Year B Programme at the time of the competition are eligible to participate in the Competition.
  • Each Law College/Law School/Law University shall nominate Only One Team. Thus Only One Team will be eligible to participate from an Institution.
  • The approval of the team for participation must be communicated undersigned by the Head/Chairperson/Principal/Dean of respective Institute and must be attached in the registration form( Enclosed as Annexure A) . The format of approval letter is enclosed herewith as Annexure B.
  • Team Composition: A team shall be comprised of Three Members i.e. Two Speakers and One Researcher. The Teams shall identify the speakers and researcher during registration and mention it too in the Approval Form.
  • Official Language: The official language of the Competition shall be English and Hindi
  • Dress Code: The teams are required to follow a strict dress code as prescribed by the Bar Council of India for Advocates.
  • The Team Codes shall be allotted to the participants after their initial On the day of Orientation Program the draw of lots shall be conducted.

  • Citations may be included either by adding footnotes (OSCOLA) or hyperlinking the reliable internet source in the main text itself.
  • Further, if the author relies on a specific part of a document to support an argument,  pinpoint citations must be included.
  • Authors are advised to keep their articles concise and precise to enhance the effectiveness of their posts. The word limit should ideally range from 1200 – 1500 words (excluding footnotes).

About the Journal

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is the statutory university established by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003 and is the seventh National Law School in order of its establishment in India.

The University is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is located at Gandhinagar, which is the capital of Gujarat State within India and is located around 23 kilometres north of the city of Ahmedabad.

Submission Guidelines

  • The GNLU Journal of Law and Technology encourages paper submissions focusing on the amalgamation of any area of technology and law.
  • GNLU Journal of Law and Technology is a bi-annual journal open for submissions from academicians, practitioners, research scholars and students.
  • Co-authorship is allowed to a maximum of 2 authors. However, co-authorship is not allowed in case of Case Comment, Legislative Comment and Book Review.
  • Manuscript must not be currently before another journal for consideration.
  • Articles must not be previously published in English.
  • Plagiarism of any sort will result in immediate disqualification of the submission.
  • The manuscript shall be free from all grammatical and spelling errors.
  • The submission of the files shall be in the Microsoft Office (doc./docx) formats only.
  • The submission must contain an abstract (not more than 500 words) and at most 5 keywords.
  • The submission must necessarily be accompanied with a ‘Conclusion’ putting forth the authors’ views and opinions on the subject matter.
  • The submission shall consist of cover letter and main document.
    • The Cover Letter addressed to the Chief Editor shall include the details like Name of Author(s); Contact Details – Address, Email and Mobile No. of Author(s); Name and Address of Institution of Author(s); Academic Qualifications / Affiliations of Author(s); Conflict of Interest Statement and Financial Declaration by Author(s) {in case of sponsored studies}.
    • The main document shall not contain any author identification like name(s), affiliation(s), and any acknowledgement(s).
    • The name of the author(s) shall not be there in the file properties of the main document.
    • The title, abstract or the keywords shall not be removed from the main document.

Word Limit

  • Articles (minimum 5000 words, excluding footnotes).
  • Essays (3500-5000 words, excluding footnotes).
  • Book Reviews/Case Commentary/ Short Notes (2000-3500 words, excluding footnotes).
  • The word limit prescribed shall be adhered to.

Formatting and Citation Style

  • The body of the manuscript must be in the font “Times New Roman”, font size 12, line spacing 1.5 and alignment “justify”.
  • All footnotes must be in Font “Times New Roman”, font size 10, line spacing 1.
  • All submissions must follow the OSCOLA style.
  • Spell out acronyms on first reference following by the abbreviated term in parenthesis.
  • The numbering against the heading (1., 2., 
.) / sub-heading (1.1, 1.2, 
..) shall be in the decimal number format system.
  • The heading shall be kept bold and the sub-headings shall be kept in italic.

Non-conformity could be a ground for rejection.

  1. All submissions must be made to gjlt@gnlu.ac.in with the subject “Manuscript Submission for GNLU Journal of Law and Technology”.
  2. The submissions with the journal are open throughout the year and manuscript(s) will be considered for any particular issue based on the completion of the review process and the availability of space in a particular volume of the journal.

About the Moot Competition

The Moot Proposition is based on Cyber Law. The problem also covers all aspects of Data Privacy and Contemporary changes that took place regarding the regulation of Data.

Eligibility

Students of 3-year or 5-year integrated law degree or of postgraduate law courses from any University/Law School/College/Department are eligible to participate in the Competition.

2 teams can participate from the same University/Law School/College/Department.

Language

The official language for the Moot Court Competition shall be English only.

The teams interested in participating are required to confirm their participation by filling up the Google form. To register for the moot competition, click on the link given at the end of this post.

Each Participating Team is required to pay INR 1000/- (One Thousand Rupees) towards Registration via online account transfer.

Structure of the Competition

The Competition shall be conducted for three days from December 18 to 20, 2021.

The timeline of the event is attached hereinabove.

The Competition shall consist of the following Oral Pleading Sessions:

  • The Preliminary Rounds
  • The Quarter Final Rounds
  • The Semi-Final Rounds
  • The Final Round

Awards

  • Winning Team Award: The winning Team will receive a cash prize and each member will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
  • Runner-Up Team Award: The runner-up Team will receive a cash prize and each member will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
  • Award for the Best Speaker: The Best Speaker will receive a cash prize and a Certificate of Achievement.
  • Award for the Best Memorial: The Team will receive a cash prize and each member will receive a Certificate of Achievement

About Gautam Buddha University

Gautam Buddha University, established by the Uttar Pradesh Act (9) of 2002, commenced its first academic session at its 511 acres lush green campus at Greater Noida in August 2008. General Rules of PN Mathur National Moot Court Competition

  • The PN Mathur National Moot Court Competition is open to all bona fide regular students enrolled in any undergraduate law course or its equivalent in any University or Institute within or outside India recognized by the Bar Council or State Government or Central Government as the case may be.
  • Each team shall comprise three members i.e. two speakers and one researcher. A team may also be comprised of two members i.e. two speakers only. The composition of the team shall not be changed once a team has registered under any circumstances whatsoever.
  • The members of the team must be designated as either ‘Speaker’ or ‘Researcher’ and such designation shall be conveyed to the Administrators at the time of registration. No researcher under any circumstances shall be allowed to present any arguments during the Oral Rounds.
  • Changes in the aforementioned designations shall not be made without a request by the responsible Faculty in Charge or Head of the Institution or Department of the Team seeking such change, as the case may be.
  • The discretion to allow or disallow such change shall solely rest with the administrators depending upon the reasonability of the cause shown, stage of the Competition, and compliance with the aforementioned rules.
  • No additional member or team coach besides the three or two members, as the case may be, shall be recognized as a participant and be allowed to attend the Oral Rounds.
  • Due to the pandemic, the organizers are unsure whether the event will be offline or online. If the situation allows it will be organized offline otherwise it will be conducted online.
  • Note: In the case of online mode, your additional accommodation fees will be refunded to your respective bank accounts.

How to register?

  • Interested teams are required to register by sending the following information latest by December 31, 2021, through e-mail with the subject “Registration- GBU National Moot Court Competition” at mootcourtsocietygbu@gmail.com :

      • Speaker 1: Full Name, Contact, E-mail

  • Registration Fee:
    • For each participating team consisting of 3 members (500 each participant for accommodation): Rs 1500/-
    • Total: Rs. 3,000/- to be submitted through Demand Draft, Cheque, or online mode.
  • The teams for registration are required to send a scanned copy of the Registration Form (PDF Format Only) duly signed and sealed by the Head of the Institution or Department along with the scanned copy of Demand Draft or Cheque drawn in favour of “Gautam Buddha University” latest by January 5, 2022, on mootcourtsocietygbu@gmail.com
  • The teams are required to send the hard copies of the registration form along with payment by way of Any Online mode via post or by hand to the Administrators latest by January 10, 2022, on the following correspondence:

  • The receipt of hard copies of the Registration Form along with the payment to the aforementioned address only shall confirm the participation of a team in the competition.
  • An acknowledgement of the receipt of required documents shall be mailed to the respective Team Members and concerned Faculty along with Team Code Number.
  • Communication with any one of the Team Members shall be deemed to be communication to the entire team for the purposes of this Competition.
  • The administrators shall not be responsible for any error or discrepancies in the details and the Registration Form, in which case the details given in the latter shall prevail.
