About the Organisation

The concept of ‘Symbiosis’ is nurtured by Prof. Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) on the principles of Vedic thought ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which means ‘World as One Family’. Symbiosis Law School (SLS) Hyderabad was established in 2014 inheriting splendid novelty, dynamism and excellence in the education of Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune.

About the Environmental Law Cell

Environmental Law Cell (ELC), one of the many cells/ centers of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad was established with the motto of incorporating a sense of responsibility towards the environment among students and creating awareness to contribute in the prevention of future degradation of the environment. Through the Cell, the members educate the students in campus and people off campus about the need for environment conservation and Sustainable Development through various activities like plantation drive, awareness camps, national seminars, Quizs, jumble sale, competitions, etc. The Cell also takes the initiative to celebrate environmentally important days through awareness.

About the Event 

Due to the constraints caused by the global pandemic, it has been a difficult task to organise and attend events. Fortunately, technology has been on our side and online modes of certain events, such as Quizzes and webinars could be conducted. We have come up with this interesting and exciting event, the “National Quiz Competition” to create awareness about the theme of the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and other significant issues related to the environment.

Theme

Following are the themes of the quiz:

2. Sustainable Development Goals

The primary basis of the Quiz will be the laws, legislation, and government policies related to the themes mentioned below. The theme of the quiz will be entirely based on environment-related issues.

About the Prize

The winner of this competition shall be awarded an internship with Sarthak Advocates and Solicitors.

They specialize in advising on commercial transactions and disputes across the different industry sectors. They have had the privilege of being invited by several Standing Committees of Parliament to depose as experts on a range of Bills, such as the Higher Education and Research Bill, 2011, National Academic Depositories Bill, 2011, Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2013, Forward Contract Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2011 and Consumer Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2011.

Abhisekh Nath Tripathi, the Founder of the firm, has specialized in various fields such as private equity, joint ventures, power & infrastructure, renewable energy, construction arbitrations and others.

The National Quiz is only open to all students belonging to 3 year or a 5 year Law course.

About the Justice J.S. Verma ADR & Client Counselling Competition 2022

The fest shall comprise various academic competitions and cultural events, which will witness the participation of students from law schools across the nation. It seeks to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences between students.

The events would serve as academic stimulations and harness skills like self-awareness, critical thinking, organizational skills, and team work, making them better professionals. The Society for Quiz, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh is organizing a National Online Quiz Competition on the topic “General Sciences- UPSC” on February 18, 2022 (Round-1) and February 20, 2022 (Round-2) under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur, Director, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dr Pushpinder Kaur, Associate Professor (Law), University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to all the students pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s/PG degree or Certificate course from any affiliated University/College/Institute.
  • The competition is also open to the school students (9-12 classes).
  • No restriction on the number of entries from one University/College/Institute.

  • There will be no negative marking for the quiz.

About IGNITE 2022

IGNITE is the flagship event of C.S.B.I which reflects every entrepreneur’s dream opportunity; opportunities such as ones bearing a close resemblance to the likes of ‘Shark Tank.’ It is a Business Plan Competition, and it is also set to be the first national virtual business plan competition of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, organized in collaboration with Symbiosis Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SCEI).

The objective and purpose of ‘Ignite’ is to provide an educational and competitive experience of how an entrepreneurial endeavour is. The team provides a platform for every student entrepreneur to present their business plan and to receive greatly insightful inputs from industry experts.

This competition is open for all students across disciplines belonging to any college in India.

  • Any student enrolled in a bachelor’ degree or Master’s degree in any college in India can participate in Ignite 2022.

About the Centre

The Centre for Environmental Legal Studies [CELS] was established by the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab in 2016 as a research centre tasked with the responsibility of undertaking and encouraging discourse on the wide array of enviro-legal issues faced by humanity, at a domestic, regional and international level.

CELS seeks to collaborate with various experts, leading academicians, legislators, and government authorities to raise awareness of environmental concerns and advance legal remedies for the same, while also endeavouring to contribute to the complex and multi-dimensional issues of enviro-legal policy in India.

About the Blog 

The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog is an egalitarian space that aims to foster critical interdisciplinary research on environmental developments across the world via inviting original contributions by the legal fraternity. The objective is to stir and promote discussion and discourse between various stakeholders in the field of environmental jurisprudence.

It intends to provide an accessible forum for relevant, well-researched, and edited scholarly articles. The blog will be stationed on contribution basis where the cognitive analysis of the contributors will be published for public discussion.

Call for Articles

The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog invites articles on a rolling basis on contemporary environmental issues. Under exceptional circumstances, the editorial board may accept write-ups that revisit significant yet dormant issues, if they provide a unique and novel perspective or have paradigm scope for discussion.

The contributions must include high- quality interdisciplinary and legal analysis of environmental issues, case laws, legislation and policy-making, and activism. Quality of research and adherence to the submission guidelines are quintessential requirements for acceptance.

Eligibility 

The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog invites articles from students, environment law researchers, academicians, practitioners, members of civil society organizations and policymakers. 

Submission Guidelines

  1. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
  2. The title of the manuscript should indicate the sub-theme that has been chosen by the author(s).
  3. The word limit for the submission shall be 800-1200words, accompanied by an abstract of not more than 150 words. The word limit is exclusive of endnotes and abstract.
  4. Co-authorship to a maximum of two authors, of the same or different institutions, is permissible.
  5. The body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. The endnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single line spacing. The text alignment should be justified.
  6. Ensure that the title of the document has been renamed to the title of the post [without any personal detail of the author(s)].
  7. Referencing and citations must be put up in the form of in text hyperlinks for internet sources.
  8. Endnotes for offline sources shall adhere to Bluebook (20th Edition) citation format.
  9. Submissions should include the manuscript in .doc or .docx format. The manuscript should not contain the name of the author or his/ her institutional affiliation or any other identification mark.
  10. Along with the manuscript, a separate cover letter in .doc or .docx format has to be attached. The Cover letter should contain the name of the author, professional information, the title of the manuscript, contact information, a short bio about the author(s).
  11. Authors must also indicate their academic qualifications including their year of study or degree(s) completed and the name of the university/ institution to which they are affiliated.
  12. Manuscript shall be sent along with the Declaration form(provided below) stating that the manuscript is an original and a bona fide work of the author(s) and they undertake to divest the copyright of the work to The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog, if accepted for publication.The Declaration form is available here as declaration form.

The Centre for Specialisation in Cyber Law Studies (CSCLS) is an in-house Centre established to research on different aspects of cyber law. The Centre intends to educate and spread awareness in Society by conducting various events and capsule courses.

The Objective of the Seminar

New risks and threats in cyberspace are real, making cyber security necessary. We, as individuals as well as societies, cannot go unprotected. Cyber security is not simply a clear-cut technical issue. It is a strategic, political, and social phenomenon with all the accompanying messy nuances. Therefore, cyber reality must be examined with scientific rigour by all disciplines, enabling an informed public debate.

It is both, morally essential and rationally effective for the responses to be formulated through a democratic process. The objective of the Seminar is to discuss and deliberate on this major issue and to understand aspects and dynamics of the same. A Book containing the selected Papers shall also be published.

The outcome of the Seminar would facilitate the organizers, participants and other stakeholders to make legislative and policy interventions to bring about positive social and legal transformation. This Seminar would also provide an excellent opportunity for the participants to put across their own views and exchange ideas in order to have a holistic understanding of the subject matter.

Call for Papers

Well-researched original Papers and case studies are invited from academics and scholars, researchers and students of multi-disciplinary.

Only one co-author is permitted. All papers shall be scrutinized through a blind review by the Editorial Board. All Papers shall be subjected to the anti-plagiarism software ‘TURNITIN’. Selected Papers will be published by the College.

No certificate shall be issued in absentia and there shall be no refund of the registration fee at any stage.

How to Submit?

  • Well-researched papers are invited from all sections of the society for presentation at the Seminar.
  • Papers shall be accepted only after review.
  • The organizers reserve the right to accept or reject Papers based on suitability (thematic and otherwise) for the Seminar.
  • An abstract of a maximum of 500 words must be submitted within 11:59 PM on or before 15 February 2022 through the Google Form provided below.
  • The paper shall be 3000 to 4000 words long excluding footnotes and must be submitted on or before 25 March 2022.
  • The Papers may conform to Blue Book Citation Style (20 th Edition); Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 16 for Main Heading, 14 for Sub-Headings, 12 for Body & 10 for Footnotes; Spacing: 1.5 for Body and 1 for Footnotes; Headings and Sub-Headings must be in bold.
  • The name of the author(s) may be indicated only on the first page of the manuscript.

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility and Word Limit

Co-Authorship: The manuscript may be co-authored by a maximum of two authors.

The Journal accepts the following kinds of submissions:

  • Articles: 5,000 to 10,000 words.
  • Short notes: 2,500 to 5,000 words.
  • Case Comments: 1,500 to 2,500 words

These word counts are exclusive of footnotes. The Editorial Board reserves the right to increase or relax the word limit, depending on the quality of the submission.

Submission Guidelines

  • The mail bearing the manuscript must declare, in its body, the category for which the submission is made for, i.e. article/short notes/case comment.
  • The body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. The footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single line spacing.
  • The manuscripts should be properly footnoted wherever sources are being used. The use of endnotes, hyperlinks, etc. is strictly prohibited. Further, no speaking footnotes (descriptive footnotes) are allowed.
  • All the sources in the footnotes must conform to the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) 4th ed. style of citation.
  • The manuscripts must be preceded by an abstract of not more than 250 words.
  • The manuscript must not contain any reference to the author’s name, affiliation or credentials.
  • All manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter with the name(s) of the author(s), institution/affiliation, the title of the manuscript, and contact details. The author must also confirm in the cover letter that the manuscript is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  • The manuscript must be an original and unpublished work.
  • If necessary, ICLR may request the author to provide a printed copy of the manuscript, in addition to the electronic copy.

Formatting Guidelines

  The submission indicates the Author(s)’ acceptance of the following conditions:

  • The work, upon publication, becomes a property of National Law University, Jodhpur; and
  • Any subsequent publication/reprint and/or derivative works are permitted subject to prior approval of the ICLR.
  • The ICLR follows three stages of blind peer-review procedure and shall endeavor to keep the authors informed about the status of their manuscript as it goes through each stage of review.
  • ICLR retains complete discretion over acceptance/rejection of manuscripts. The Editorial Board of ICLR shall not entertain requests for advance decisions based on abstracts, topic proposals or outlines. Editorial decisions shall be based solely on review of the final manuscripts submitted by the authors.
  • Post-review, manuscripts may be returned to the authors with suggestions related to substance and/or style. Acceptance of a manuscript for publication shall be made contingent on incorporation of such suggestions.
  • ICLR reserves the right to request copies of any resources or authorities cited in the manuscript.

How to Submit?

  • All manuscripts must be sent through email and addressed to the Editor-in-Chief at cclp@nlujodhpur.ac.in.
  • The subject of the email should be titled – “Volume VII(1)_ICLR Submission_Name of the Author(s)”.
  • The name of the document must be in the following format – “Name of the Author(s) – Title of Submission”.
  • The Authors are advised to send only one submission per author or a team of co-authors.
  • The manuscript must be submitted in a Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format only.

About competition

Symbiosis Law School, Pune is organising the “Juristas-International Law Essay Competition 2022”. 
This competition aims to promote research and knowledge creation in the field of international
law.

Topics

The Topics for this year are:

  • Climate change versus Modernization
  • Discourse on Climate Change- Influenced Human Migration: Its Legal Implications with special emphasis upon COVID- 19
  • Construction of a clear course for the ‘Net-Zero’ Emission target: Backing common but differentiated responsibilities or forced compliance.

Eligibility

Participation is open to all UG and PG Law students in any institution in India and abroad.

  • Participation is open to all the Undergraduate and Post-graduate Law Students enrolled in any institution in India and abroad.
  • Co-authorship is allowed but resticted to a maximum of two individuals per essay.

Submission Guidelines

  • All entries should be in Times New Roman, size 12 and line spacing 1.5
  • The Essay should not be less than 4500 words and not more than 6500 inclusive of all footnotes.
  • The essay should be accompanied with a 250 word abstract which shall not be counted towards the word limit.
  • All entries should contain footnote citations which should be in Times New Roman, size 10 and single line spacing.
  • The footnote should conform to the system of citation specified in the Harvard Blue Book, 20th Edition.
  • The use of end-notes and other citation methods is not permitted.
  • All entries should include a cover page specifying name of the author, institutional affiliation, course and year of study, e-mail address, postal address and contact number. Any identifying information is not to be mentioned anywhere in the text of the essay and violation of the same shall lead to immediate disqualification.
  • Paper must be original and unpublished work of the authors. The paper should not be under consideration for publication or in a contest elsewhere.
  • Plagiarism of any nature will attract immediate disqualification. Plagiarism of up to 10 percent would be permitted.
  • The organizers reserve the right to reject the entries that do not conform to the above mentioned guidelines.
  • Essays will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of impartial Judges and Academicians.
  • Essays will be judged anonymously.
  • The Essays once submitted will be the sole intellectual property of Symbiosis Law School, Pune

How to Submit?

  • Send the soft copy of the essay to ilsaessay@symlaw.ac.in with the subject of the email written as “JURISTAS 2022“
  • The participants must attach an attested copy of their students Identity Card along with the essay.
  • The deadline for the submission of entries is March 31, 2022.
  • All the submitted entries shall be forwarded for ranking, to a panel of eminent experts in the field of International Law. 

Registration Fee

There is no registration fee.

Awards

The first, second, and third place holders, thus ranked, shall be awarded cash prizes and certificates.

  • First Place: Rs. 15,000
  • Second Place: Rs. 10,000
  • Third Place: Rs. 5,000
  • Besides, all the participants shall be issued with participation certificates.

About VIPS Student Law Review

VIPS Student Law Review is a student-run Peer and Blind Reviewed Journal. The Journal runs under the faculty advisory committee of VSLLS, VIPS. It has been established with the objective of becoming a formidable instrument in taking the standard of legal research in-country up by several notches.

It is an annual, student-edited journal focusing on inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches
towards legal writing. The Journal aims to publish long articles/ short articles, case comments, book reviews/legislation reviews on all aspects of law and related issues.

The Journal aims at giving the opportunity to legal academia, research scholars, students, advocates, and activists working towards the enhancement of legal scholarship. Hence, the Journal will serve as the platform for innovative thought sharing and will aim at contributing to the dynamic growth of legal
knowledge.

The Editorial Committee of VIPS Student Law Review is inviting quality research papers on law and legal policies including its allied branches from the legal fraternity:

Categories for Submission

The Review seeks to provide a platform for engaging in multi-disciplinary discussions on themes of law, society, and justice. Research Articles should have proper research questions and should also reflect the findings. The submission can be sent under the following categories:

  • Long Articles: Between 4000 to 6000 words, inclusive of footnotes.
  • Short Articles: Between 3000 to 5000 words, inclusive of footnotes.
  • Case Comments/Book Review/Legislation Review: Between 2000 – 3000
    words, inclusive of footnotes.

Guidelines for Submissions

  • Submissions should be in Times New Roman, 12 font size with 1.5 line spacing, justified text and 1-inch margins on all sides of an A4 sheet. The page number should be center-aligned at the bottom of each page.
  • Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single line spacing.
  • Graphics, Charts, Tables, and Diagrams should be numbered consecutively and included in the body of the work. Submission must be compatible with Microsoft Word.
  • All the submissions must be emailed at vips.studentlawreview@gmail.com along with a cover page with the title of the research paper, Name of the author and Designation of the author. The research paper should not contain any reference to the identity of the author in order to enable anonymous screening and peer review.
  • Each submission should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words.
  • The submission must be the original work of the authors. Any manuscript above 15% plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
  • Submitted entries must not have been sent for consideration at any other place for presentation or publication. A declaration to the same effect must accompany each submission.
  • Co-authorship is allowed. Maximum number of Co-authors for a submission shall be restricted to 2 (two).
  • Multiple submissions by the same author(s) are not allowed.
  • VIPS Student Law Review follows the Harvard Blue Book (20th Edition) citation style. Authors are requested to follow the same.
  • Copyright of all the submissions shall exclusively vest with VSLLS, VIPS.
  • One complimentary hard copy of the Journal would be issued to the author after publication. In case of co-authorship, the complimentary hard copy would be issued only to the first author.
