Guidelines for the seminar paper:

  • The abstract should be a maximum of 250 words indicating the theme of the proposed research with five relevant keywords. The research paper should be strictly thematic.
  • Full Paper must consist of a minimum of 2500 words and a maximum of 6000 words excluding references and footnotes (Descriptive footnotes and substantive text in the footnotes is not permitted).
  • Footnotes must follow The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (Harvard, 19th Edition).
  • Abstract and Full paper is to be submitted in soft copy in MS-Word format(Times New Roman, font size 14 for the heading, 12 for the text, and 10 for the footnotes with 1.5 spacing for the text and 1.0 spacing for the footnotes).

Role and Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of Dean, Research and overall guidance of Director and the Registrar, the incumbent shall perform the following roles and
responsibilities;
(i) Conduct interdisciplinary research in areas of law in collaboration with teaching and research staff including honorary members and students;
(ii) Publishing research papers in UGC/Scopus/Web of Science indexed journals;
(iii) Submitting research proposals to various agencies and getting research funding and consultancy projects;
(iv) Provide research assistance to teaching and research staff as and when required;
(v) Develop, plan, execute, monitor, and report interdisciplinary research in collaboration with external universities, institutions, government departments, industrial and economic agencies, judiciary within India and abroad;
(vi) Provide input to general teaching faculty on the latest research developments and emerging research trends in respective fields;

Criteria:

(i) The candidate is required to hold a Master’s Degree in Law with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university;
(ii) Good knowledge of the latest national and international research trends and developments in Law;
(iii) Ability to conceptualize and organize international training workshops and brainstorming online/on-site discussions apart from teaching/Research;
(iv) The candidate shall be Fluent in the English language.

Highly Desirable:

(i) Experience in teaching/research in premier law universities/colleges.
(ii) National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET;
(iii) Knowledge of computer application, command over oral and written communication, demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team is essential;

About the competition:

GD Goenka University, in association with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (India), the Society of Indian Law Firms and the Bar Association of India for the first time in a different set-up is organizing the “GD Goenka – CIArb (India) International Virtual Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, 2020” during November 28- November 29, 2020, on a competition proposition based on “International Commercial Arbitration”.

Eligibility:

  • Students duly enrolled and pursuing full-time 5 years or 3 years undergraduate law course from India or from a foreign university with the law as a major.
  • Students enrolled and pursuing a post-graduate diploma or short-term certificate courses in law are not eligible to apply.

  • Each team shall register to GD Goenka- CIArb (India) International Virtual Arbitration Moot Competition, 2020 by filing the registration form, by 17th November 2020.
  • On receipt of the duly filled registration form, the institute shall respond to the participating team, acknowledging the receipt.

About the Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK):

Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK) is a charitable organization in Dehradun, as recognized so by the State Government of Uttarakhand.  It works for the underprivileged and marginalized communities in the region. The contribution of interns at RLEK is as good as 20 full-time employees. This way the organization trains future leaders and judges about the rule of law.

About the internship:

The internship at RLEK is aimed at understanding the difference and bridge the gap between legality and reality. Working for the marginalized communities on issues such as spreading education, legal literacy, community mobilization, governance, health, etc. at the grass-root level. It involves the following:

  • Training the students on the above issues and also provide them with practical insights and to fill the gap between legality and reality.
  • They are also taken on exposure visits to remote areas.
  • There they are made to understand the problems of these people and learn how work is being done to improve their situation.
  • They are assigned tasks and work under the supervision of professionals.

Minimum 1 Month.
