The Journal of Law and Ethics received great response from the legal fraternity in its first edition. The Journal, for its second edition of 2022 , now invites submissions from students, academicians, doctoral students, and research scholars.

Guidelines

  • All submissions must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words. Up to 4 keywords must also be provided.
  • Submissions on any contemporary legal issues will be accepted.
  • The contributions submitted for publication in the journal must neither have been previously published nor currently, be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Co-authorship is allowed up to a maximum of 2 authors.
  • The manuscript first page only must contain the name of the author(s) or his/her institutional affiliation or any other information, professional information, contact details, and any other relevant information.

  • Research paper: 3000 words and above (excluding Footnotes)
  • Article: 1500-3000 words (excluding footnotes)
  • Book reviews: 1500-2000 words
  • Short Note & Case Comment: 1000 – 2000 words

Formatting and Citation Style

  • Submissions must be made in Microsoft Office (doc./docx.) formats only.
  • The submission must be the original work of the authors and should be free from all grammatical and spelling errors.
  • The manuscript body must be in the font ‘Times New Roman,’ font-size 12, line spacing 1.5, and the text should be justified.
  • All footnotes must be in Font ‘Times New Roman’, font size 10, line spacing 1, and justified.
  • All submissions must follow the Bluebook (19th Edition)’.
  • Non-conformity will be a ground for rejection.

About the Internship

Chamber of Advocate Pijush K. Roy is looking to hire 1 intern for the months of March-April, 2022. The Chamber is largely involved in all types of civil, criminal, corporate, constitutional, and pro-bono matters before the Supreme Court of India and High Courts across the country.

The pre-requisites of applying are: 

  • The law student should be in IVth-Vth year from a non-NLU College in case of an integrated degree or in the IIIrd year in case of three year law degree. NLU students can also apply but preference will be given to non-NLU students;
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate past experience in dealing with litigation related works and assignments relating to the Supreme Court in their CV. Academics will also be given greater weightage;
  • Is hungry for knowledge and has a passion to learn more about the nuances of litigation at the Apex Court.

The tasks entail, but are not limited to drafting, researching, extensive reading, briefing and assisting in various other nuances of the chamber. The internship will be in online mode, subject to the prevailing COVID situations.

About UNESCAP

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific is one of the five regional commissions under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

It was established in order to increase economic activity in Asia and the Far East, as well as to foster economic relations between the region and other areas of the world.

About the Internship

Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of staff member(s) in ESCAP-SSWA which they are assigned to.

Inaugurated in December 2011, UNESCAP South and South-West Asia Office (UNESCAP-SSWA) serves 10 countries in the subregion, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkey.

The work program of UNESCAP-SSWA covers analytical and normative work, policy support and advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity building activities, along with five priority areas, as per the mandate received from UNESCAP member States:

  • Inclusive growth, the accelerating achievement of the MDGs, structural change and job creation, women’s empowerment, social protection, the post-2015 development agenda, and sustainable development
  • Strengthening connectivity, trade, and transport facilitation, and regional economic integration

Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision by a staff member(s), the intern is responsible for contributing to the research project (s) related to the work programme of SSWA for the implementation of the SDGs.

The topic of the project will depend on the intern’s background, skills, and interests.

  • Regular monitoring of relevant developments, policy trends and news articles related to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in the subregion;
  • Monitor and collect details on national policies on selected sustainable development issues of ESCAP-SSWA member States
  • Collect data, generate figures and tables, describe and analyze the tables and results to support ESCAP-SSWA staff in related research and analytical work
  • Attend conferences, seminars, meetings and other events and provide written highlights and briefing notes

About Justice Dipak Misra

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipak Misra has served as the 45th Chief Justice of India from 28th August 2017 till 2nd October 2018. Born on 3rd October 1953, Justice Misra enrolled at the Bar in 1977 and practiced at the Orissa High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court in 1996 and was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court where he was made a Permanent Judge in 1997.

In December 2009, Justice Misra was appointed Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, serving until May 2010, where he was appointed the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Justice Misra was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on 10th October 2011 and assumed charge as the Chief Justice of India on 28th August 2017.

A former Judge of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh High Court and a former Chief Justice of Patna and Delhi High Courts, he is a bold and Humane Judge. Justice Misra has been a strong upholder of constitutional values and citizenry rights and a staunch defender of the rights to equality, liberty, and dignity.

Eligibility

The Competition is open for bonafide students pursuing 5 Year and 3 Years L L.B. Course or any similar course in a foreign university.

Language

The language for the Competition shall be English only.

Team Composition

Each team shall consist of three members (two speakers and one researcher).

The researcher will only be allowed to argue instead of a speaker, with the prior permission of the Dean – Geeta Institute of Law.

Clarification

Clarification to the Moot Proposition may be sought by sending an e-mail to mootgil@geeta.edu.in on or before 11th February 2022. Clarification sent after this date shall not be entertained.

The Oral rounds shall comprise of:

  • Preliminary Round (Two)
  • Quarter-Final Round
  • Semi-Final Round
  • Final Round

Registration Details

Registration Fee: Rs 5000/-for each participating team consisting of 3 members. (With decent accommodation).

Deadline for Memorial Submission: 

  • Deadline for Memorial Submission (Soft Copy): February 18, 2022 
  • Deadline for Memorial Submission (Hard Copy): February 25, 2022

Prizes

  • Winning Team: Cash Prize of INR 31000/-
  • Runner up Team Award: Cash Prize of INR 15000/-
  • Teams qualifying for Semi-finals: Each Team member shall be awarded with a trophy as a token of appreciation.
  • Best Memorial Award: INR 2100/-
  • Second Best Memorial Award: INR 1500/-
  • Best Mooter (Male) Award: INR 2100/-
  • Best Mooter (Female) Award: INR 2100/-
  • Best Researcher Award: INR 2100/-

All the Participants will get participation certificates post the Valedictory Ceremony.
