Saraswathy Law College in collaboration with the Institute of Legal Education is organizing its first national moot court competition on Constitutional Law in offline mode from August 27 to 28.

ABOUT

Moot Court competition plays a major role in developing the vocal ability of law students. The Constitutional Moot Court Competition is a Celebration event to commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence and the glorious history of its people, Rights and Freedom by Saraswathy Law College and Institute of Legal Education.

The aim of the event is to bring academicians, practitioners, and students of Law together in order to learn and share their legal knowledge. The Event showcases the legal battle between aspiring lawyers.

THEME

The Constitution of India, The POCSO Act, and The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

1. Teams must register with the link given at the end of this post.
2. The registration fee for a Team is INR 3000 (Including Accommodation). Registration Fees must be paid before registration. And except in inevitable circumstances, the registration fee is not refundable.
3. While filling out the registration form, teams have to select an official contact person (Team Liaison). All communications concerning the competition shall be sent by e-mail to the Team Liaison of the team. It is assumed that all the information communicated and materials distributed to the Team Liaison is communicated to the team even after the competition.
4. After the registration process has been successfully completed by the participants, they will receive a confirmation mail and a Team code shall be allotted to that team after August 2, 2022.

2. Submission date of Written Submissions: August 14, 2022
3. Oral Rounds: August 27-28, 2022

AWARDS

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. These are the rules for the III JECRC Uttam Devi Mohanlal Khatuwaala Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2022.
2. The III JECRC Uttam Devi Mohanlal Khatuwaala Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2022 will be held from August 13th to 16th 2022, at JECRC University Campus, Jaipur.
3. The Organizing Committee (OC) shall function as the point of contact and any changes in the Rules of the Competition shall be notified by e-mail to all participating teams.
4. The Competition shall be conducted in accordance with the rules mentioned hereunder. Participants are required to comply with the rules and procedures prescribed herein.
5. The official e-mail for all correspondence concerning the Competition is ju.mootcourt@jecrcu.edu.in
6. The students must be present in their formal uniform ie, a White shirt, Black trousers, Black Tie, and a Black Coat.
7. Selection will be on a first come first basis as there will be limited seats.
8. The language must be English in all the rounds.

ELIGIBILITY

Students of three-year or Five-year integrated law degree courses from any University/Law School/College/Department are eligible to participate in the Competition. However, a maximum of one Team shall be allowed to participate from any one University/Law School/College/Department.

TEAM COMPOSITION

1. Each Team shall consist only of three members, comprising two speakers and one researcher.
2. Any alteration of the names of the team members shall be informed through writing mail to ju.mootcourt@jecrcu.edu.in
3. Once the Competition commences, the team composition cannot be altered under any circumstances whatsoever. The inability of any team member to participate in accordance with the rules of this Competition shall lead to immediate disqualification of the Team from the Competition.

IDIA BIHAR is organizing a PIL COMPETITION.

ABOUT

Increasing Diversity By Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) is a nationwide movement to empower underprivileged and marginalized communities by creating top-quality lawyers from within. Founded by legal academician, late Prof. (Dr.)Shamnad Basheer, it runs on the backbone of more than 600 passionate student volunteers spread across India. IDIA is premised on the notion that access to premier legal education empowers marginalized communities by creating exceptional lawyers and community leaders from within. Underprivileged and marginalized students in India lack equitable access to quality legal education. This can be traced to a lack of awareness about law as a career that can improve their lives; Extremely high fees and expenditure for the 5-year law degree and Lack of financial aid to students from low-income backgrounds. IDIA identifies underprivileged students with an aptitude for law and trains them for law entrance exams over a 1-2 year period. IDIA not only enables access to legal education it also fosters diversity at the leading law schools and enriches the very process of legal education.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Each Participating Team must submit ONE PIL draft.
2. If a participant/team wishes to submit any annexure to support his/her arguments contained in the PIL (for instance Reports, Commentaries, News Clippings, Pictures, etc.) a compendium of all the relevant annexures must be prepared and should be sent along with the memorial.
3. All PIL drafts must be sent to the email address: idiabiharevents@gmail.com by 10 July 2022 midnight with the Subject of the email as “PIL Draft, Team Code _”
4. Any submission made after the deadline will not be considered for evaluation and will result in the cancellation of candidature as well as forfeiture of the contribution made.
5. Any submission with any name reference to the participant will be disqualified.
6. Substantial Plagiarism shall amount to disqualification, therefore, the Participants must not submit plagiarized content.
7. In case the draft of two or more participants/teams is found “substantially similar” to each other, both the participants/ teams shall be disqualified.
8. It should be noted that at any point in time and in case of any conflict the decision of the committee shall be final & binding.

THEMES

(These themes are only suggestive – the participants may select any topic that is related to the themes given below)

1. Environment and Wildlife Protection;
2. Accessible Education for Persons with Disabilities;
3. Gender Justice: Contemporary Issues.

The participants are allowed to select a topic other than the abovementioned suggestive themes. In that case, the topic must relate to a contemporary issue.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition shall be open for the students currently pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in law i.e. 3- a year LL.B. course or a 5-year LL.B. course from any recognized university/college in India. There is no restriction on the number of entries from any college or university. Cross teams would be allowed to participate.

TEAM COMPOSITION

1. “Individual Participation” as well as “Participation in a team of two” is allowed.
2. Participants from two different universities may also form a team.
3. The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed after the registration deadline except in extenuating circumstances and only with permission of the Organizer.
