About the Moot
The 5th Edition of the Annual Jindal Moot Court Competition is being organized as a fully online event to be held between 11th to 13th March 2022. This edition of the Moot Competition is being hosted and organized by the Moot Court Society, Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat, in Association with the Jindal Initiative for research in IP and Competition Law (JIRICO). After successfully hosting four editions of this moot, this year’s edition focuses on the issues with Competition Law.

Eligibility
The Competition is open to students enrolled full time in any University/college/department, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Law (i.e., B.A. LLB, B.B.A. LLB, B.Com.. LLB, B.Tech. LLB, B.Sc. LLB, 3 Year LLB and their equivalent degrees) at the time that the Competition takes place, which is recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Students enrolled for Post-graduate, Doctoral, Diploma, Research, and equivalent degrees are not eligible to participate.
These requirements do not apply to coaches or advisors to the teams.
Team Composition
An institution shall under no circumstance be permitted to register more than one (1) team and all members of a team shall be enrolled in the same institution.
Teams shall comprise of 3 members only, comprising of two oralists and one researcher per team.
Subject to the rules related to Team Coaches or Advisors and Observers, no other individual may assist the team with researching,writing, editing, citations, constructing its arguments or in any other manner. Failure to observe this rule may result in disqualification.
Registration
Participation in the moot is upon invitation only. Upon receiving such invitation, the representatives of the institution will have to submit details for registration as per the guidelines prescribed by the OC.

After registration, participating teams will be provided with a Team Code, which will serve as their unique identifier for submitting Memorials and at the Oral Rounds. Teams shall strictly only use their Team Code and shall not disclose the names of their Universities or names of individual team members on their memorials, or in the presence of judges, during the course of the Competition.
Failure to abide by these rules may invite penalties, as determined by the OC on a case-by-case basis.

The NMCC 2022 is the first ever attempt made by the Moot Court Committee of the IFIM Law School to provide its young and dynamic law students a visibility for themselves as well as for the law school and to carve a niche in the realm of business and commercial laws. The theme of the competition is Cryptocurrency and Smart Contract
IFIM Law School, Bengaluru, through the proposition of its National Moot Court Competition, has attempted to spread awareness and knowledge about cryptocurrencies; especially at this time when there is a big question mark hanging over the regulation of cryptocurrencies.
With the highest number of cryptocurrency users in the world, India has also been focusing on the same and has been actively thinking about ways to answer the question of effective regulation of cryptocurrencies by starting with proposing a bill regarding the same.
The moot proposition has been made in the thought of bringing the most basic to the more complex issues when dealing with smart contracts and the blockchain system. One of the major contentions of the problem relates to the validity of the contract mentioned in the problem, due to its existence in the form of a smart contract, its admissibility in the court of law as a piece of valid evidence and the validity of cryptocurrencies as a lawful consideration.
The other contentions of the problem relate to jurisdiction, drafting of adhesion contracts, unfair trade practices, interpretation of clauses by smart contract mechanism, and the liability to pay damages.
Eligibility
The competition is open only for bona-fide students of recognized Institutions/Universities/Organizations who are currently pursuing their bachelor’s degree in Law i.e. 3-Year LL.B. or 5- Year LL.B. Integrated Program.
Each team shall consist of a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances. There shall be 2 speakers and 1 researcher designated in a team of 3 while in case of a team of 2, both members of the team shall be considered to be speakers.
Teams shall identify their speakers and researcher during registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed. Each team will be provided a team code and each participant will be provided with an individual code which will be communicated to them in due time via email.

About Justice Dipak Misra
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipak Misra has served as the 45th Chief Justice of India from 28th August 2017 till 2nd October 2018. Born on 3rd October 1953, Justice Misra enrolled at the Bar in 1977 and practiced at the Orissa High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court in 1996 and was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court where he was made a Permanent Judge in 1997.
In December 2009, Justice Misra was appointed Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, serving until May 2010, where he was appointed the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Justice Misra was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on 10th October 2011 and assumed charge as the Chief Justice of India on 28th August 2017.
A former Judge of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh High Court and a former Chief Justice of Patna and Delhi High Courts, he is a bold and Humane Judge. Over twelve years, the competition has become one of the biggest moot court competitions in the country which consistently witnesses participation from the top law schools in India with more than 35 top law schools participating in 2021. The competition promises a challenging problem, high competition and excellent judging.
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to argue before an illustrious panel of judges, including judges from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and the Competition Commission of India.
Eligibility
Participate in the Competition by registering a team consisting of at least two and not more than three members. A maximum of forty teams will be hosted this time.

The organizers reserve the right to switch the mode of the Competition to Online/Virtual based on the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Government of India, enforceable at the time. The participants will be notified in advance of the mode of the Competition in case of any modifications.
Team Eligibility and Composition
Participation is strictly restricted to bona fide law students pursuing the three years or five years LL.B. degree course in any institution in India. Students pursuing their LL.M. and Diploma courses are not eligible for participation.
Only one team shall be allowed to represent each participating institution.
Each participating team should have three participating members. In a team, two members shall be designated as ‘Speakers’ and the third member shall be designated as ‘Researcher’.

The registration for the moot shall open on the 4th of January, 2022. A total of 36 slots are available for the moot, meaning thereby that the registration for the moot shall take place on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The interested teams are requested to get their universities provisionally registered via mail from the official email id of their MCC/MCA. Upon receiving the acknowledgement of the provisional registration, participants are requested to follow the procedure given here under final registration.
All the participating institutions have to confirm participation by filling the registration form via the registration link, on or before 30th January 2022.
In furtherance to this, the participating Universities are required to send a detailed mail consisting of the details of the participating members along with an Authorization Letter/Mail.
Registration Fees
The participating teams are required to pay INR 6,000/- as registration fees at the time of registration. In case the Competition is conducted in Virtual Mode, the registration fees to be paid will be INR 3,500/-, the remaining balance will be refunded by the organizers to the concerned teams within a reasonable period of time.
The last date to deposit the registration fees is 5th February 2022. Non-payment of Registration Feesshallresult in the cancellation of the Registration of the Participating Team. In such a scenario, the newly available slot shall be given to the next team in line.

Best Researcher: The participant having the highest researcher’s score shall be given a cash prize of INR 8,000/- (Indian Rupees Eight Thousand Only)
Certificates of merit shall be given to all the teams qualifying for Quarter-finals and beyond.
Certificate of participation shall be given to all the participating teams.
The awards, certificates of merit and certificates of participation shall be given during the valedictory ceremony to be conducted on 3rd April 2022. No certificate will be given to the team before or after the valedictory function.

About the Moot Competition
The Moot Court Competition has been organized to achieve excellence in the field of Legal Education, we are making an attempt to set up a common platform for all the law students for their overall development to become an advocate. Moot Court Competition will give Competitors such an opportunity to gain valuable experience and training in written and oral appellate advocacy, furthermore they will gain experience in the legal research, analysis, writing and oral advocacy skills during the competition which is valuable in a wide range of practice areas and make participants more marketable to legal employers. As a step towards this, we have organized the Fifth National Moot Court Competition (Hybrid Mode).
Who is it for?
All students currently enrolled in three year or five-year LL.B. in any Law School/College/University in India, are eligible to participate in the Competition.
Any recognized Institution/College/University shall be entitled to send only one team to the Competition.

Registration Procedure
Teams must register themselves latest by February 10, 2022.
The registration fee is Rs. 1200/-.
It is compulsory for all the participating teams to attach the permission letter including consent from their College/Institution/University. The permission letter should be on the Letter head of the Institution issuing it and shall include the Names of each participants and their course with semester. Kindly upload the Pdf copy of the permission letter in the registration link. No form shall be accepted, in case the permission letter is not uploaded in the registration link.
The registration fee shall be non-refundable.
Any change in team composition will not be entertained after the registration. In case of any unforeseen contingency where it becomes imperative to change the team composition, the participating team shall send an application through mail to the Administrator, mentioning the compelling reason for the change. However, the change in the composition shall be done at the discretion of the Administrator.
Fee details
Each participating team shall pay a notional entry fee of Rs.1200.00 (One Thousand Two Hundred only) by way of an Online Transfer in the account. The Barcode for the Payment is given under the Brochure.
