Eligibility

Students enrolled in a full-time or part-time law programme at the time of the competition are eligible to compete in the Competition. Each College/Law School or University may enter one team ONLY.

Team Composition

  • Each team shall have three (3) members only, consisting of two (2) speakers and one (1) researcher.
  • Certification shall not be awarded to an additional member.

Official Language

The official language of the Competition is English. All Competition Rounds including the written submissions (memorials) will be in English.

Registration

  • The duly completed Google Form for Registration with all team details and NEFT/Wire Transfer must be submitted online to the Moot Court Association on or before 11:59 p.m. IST on 25th November, 2021 for teams participating in accordance with clause 1.1. and 1.2 (Overseas and Invited Indian Teams). No change in the names of the participants shall be permitted after the receipt of the Registration Form, except at the sole discretion of the Organisers.
  • The duly completed Google Form for Registration with all team details and NEFT must be submitted online to the Moot Court Association on or before 11:59 p.m. IST on 15th January, 2022 for teams selected in accordance with clause 1.3.3 (Memorial Round Teams). No change in the names of the participants shall be permitted after the receipt of the Registration Form, except at the sole discretion of the Organisers.
  • All teams shall be given a ‘‘Team Code’’ by the Organisers on validation of their Google Form for Registration and NEFT/Wire Transfer.
  • The teams shall use their designated “Team Code” for all correspondence with the Organizers.
  • The same team code must be used by the teams during the submission of Memorials and during all the Rounds of the Competition.

Dress Code

The dress code for the rounds of the competition shall be as prescribed by the Rules of the Court of Jurisdiction. The dress code for all the functions at the competition shall be western formals for gentlemen and western or traditional formals for ladies

Overseas Teams Registration

Overseas teams may participate in the Competition by making an application to the Organisers via e-mail to dmh.glc@gmail.com. Only after the application has been confirmed will a link to a Google Form and details for the payment of registration fees be provided.

Invited Indian Teams Registration

The organisers shall invite ONLY those Indian Universities/Colleges (refer to Annexure I), which had qualified to the Semi Final Rounds in the 22nd D. M. Harish Memorial Government Law College International Online Moot Court Competition to participate in the competition. The invited colleges must provisionally register themselves by sending an email to dmh.glc@gmail.com. Only after the provisional registration has been confirmed will a link to a Google Form and details for the payment of registration fees be provided.

Awards

  • An e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 36,000/- for the Best Team and an e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 27,000/- for the 2nd Best Team.
  • An e-certificate and cash prize of Rs 15,000/- for the Best Memorial and an e-certificate and cash prize of Rs. 12,000/- for the Runner-up Memorial.
  • An e-certificate and cash prize of Rs. 14,000/- for the Best Speaker, an e-certificate and cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- for the 2nd Best Speaker and an e-certificate and cash prize of Rs. 14,000/- for the Best Speaker in the Final Round of Arguments.
  • All participants will get e-certificates of Participation and all the winners of awards will get e-certificates of Merit.

Procedure and Guidelines

General Rules:

  • “Organizers”means the Moot Court Committee, School of Law, Sharda University
  • “Competition”means the 2nd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Virtual Moot Court Competition, 2021
  • “Participating Team”means the team which has registered itself for the competition as per the rules given below.
  • “Participating College/Institution/University” shall be presumed to be the parent institution of the participating team.
  • “Participants”means the speakers and the researcher of the Participating Team.
  • The rules of the Moot Court shall be strictly adhered to. Any deviation there from them would attract disqualification or other penalties as decided by the Organizers.
  • Decision taken by the Organizers in case of any doubt, dispute, disqualification etc shall be final.

Date and Venue of the Competition:

The 2nd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Virtual Moot Court Competition shall be held from Wednesday- Friday, 24th to 26th November, 2021.
Venue: Google Meet- URL shall be shared with the participants at the appropriate time

Eligibility

The Competition is open to bona-fide undergraduate students of recognized Colleges/Institutions/Universities who are currently pursuing their Bachelors Degree in Law i.e. 3 Year LL.B or 5 Year Integrated or Honors’ LLB Programme with all combinations on a regular basis.

Team Composition:

  • Each team shall comprise of a maximum of 3 members and a minimum of 2 members consisting of either 2 speakers and 1 researcher or 2 speakers only. The number cannot be modied under any circumstances.
  • Teams shall identify the speakers and researcher at the time of Registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed. Also, no deviation from the chosen names shall be allowed.
  • Not more than One Team from the same Institution shall be allowed to participate in the competition.

Teams are required to complete their Registration by 10th November, 12:00 AM IST.
The Registration Fee is INR 1500/- which shall be payable through Online Transition Mode and shall be made in favour of Sharda University, School of Law.

  • After registering on the Google Form, the teams are required to send one Email Approval through their Moot Court Faculty Coordinator/Dean/Principle with the details of the participating team.
  • Once the Registration form is filled, Email Approval from the Faculty Coordinator is received and Fee is paid, the teams shall receive the confirmation of their provisional Registration from the Sharda Moot Court Society.
  • The Registration shall be deemed complete only when Registration form is duly filled, Email Approval is received and Registration fee is paid. The teams must send the Screen shot of their Online Transaction Fee through email to nmc@sharda.ac.in
  • Once the nal registration is done Teams will get the confirmation email and their Team Codes also.

Details of the Moot Court Competition

The Surana & Surana National Corporate Law Moot was created to provide opportunities for learning the development of jurisprudence on emerging trends in Corporate Law as well as developing cutting-edge skills in research, writing, and advocacy.

The Surana & Surana National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition will include a judgement writing competition with the following principles and goals:

  • Aside from the primary principle of promoting the rule of law and upholding justice, a judgement serves a social and civic function.
  • To accomplish the foregoing, it must “execute with clarity of thought, explain the decision to the parties, communicate reasons for the decision to the public, and provide a reason for an appeal court to consider.”
  • To cultivate a well-balanced and prudent mind.
  • Prevent the abuse of the legal system.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students studying LLB three-year or five-year courses in the current academic year who are interested in Tax, Corporate, and Commercial Laws and who are from invited institutions.
Students of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India are also eligible. Students who have already completed their law/Company Secretary/Chartered Accountant degrees/courses are ineligible.

The virtual version of the 19th Surana & Surana National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition will be held.

Registration process

  • Online registration will be available beginning October 1, 2021. Teams must register online by October 28th, 2021.
  • Teams must register online at www.moot.in.
  • On a first-come, first-served basis, only 50 teams will be registered to compete.
  • There will be no temporary registration requests accepted. Please do not send such requests to Surana & Surana or JSSLS.
  • On successful registration submission, participants will receive an automated system generated acknowledgement. Participants will receive approval as acceptance of their participation request by the 30th of October 2021 or earlier.

THE MOOT COURT SOCIETY

The Moot Court Society (MCS) of School of Law is a student run body under the able guidance of our faculty
coordinators. The society seeks to channelize students into the activity of mooting. The primary goal of MCS is to
provide all students with the opportunity to harbour research, oral advocacy skills, legal drafting skills and other essential prowess to mould a student into an adept mooter. In order to achieve this objective, MCS organizes various
events like Moot Primer (for novice mooters), Introductory Moot Rounds for 1st-year students, Internal Moot Championship between 1st and 2ndyear students, Internal National Ranking Rounds, Internal International Scheduled Moot Ranking Rounds and our flagship event – National Moot Court Competition which is an inter-collegiate event. Teams of SLCU have a long tradition of excellence in mooting and advocacy at both national and international levels. This year as well, MCS strives to promote and foster a vibrant mooting culture to reach greater heights and set new benchmarks.

THE NATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION

The National Moot Court Competition (NMCC), which has attracted significant attention from students around the
country and has evolved into one of the most prestigious moots in the country, has been one of the most prominent
events on the MCS calendar over the years. The past editions of the NMCC have revolved around the propositions with subject matters primarily relating to Constitutional Law, Competition Law, Arbitration Law and Tax Laws. Additionally, the NMCC has had the pleasure of hosting eminent dignitaries such as Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Hon ‘ble Mr. Justice A.K. Sikri, Hon’ble Mr. Justice L. Nageswara Rao, Late Mr. Ram Jethmalani, Ms. Indira Jaising, and many other notable figures from the Legal world. The 12th Flagship Edition of the National Moot Court Competition is scheduled to be held from 18th to 21st November 2021 virtually, and it shall strive to carry forward the same legacy in providing a holistic experience of mooting in the virtual format.

About Department of Law

The Department of Law was established in 2017 by introducing a five-year integrated BA LL.B degree course. Established as a unit of the Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies, the Department aims to provide quality education with a professional approach to the budding legal professionals. The year 2020 has added another feather to its cap with the introduction of the five-year integrated BBA LL.B course. Entry to the five-year course is through the rankings of the CLAT (Common Law Aptitude Test). The Department is equipped with requisite facilities like Moot Court, Legal Services Clinic, etc., as stipulated by the Bar Council of India. It has a mix of senior seasoned faculty as well as young and dynamic faculty.

MAIMS 2nd National Moot Court Competition, 2021

Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies 2nd National Moot Court Competition, 2021, aims to provide a platform for students across India to showcase their advocacy and research skills by competing in a professional and challenging environment. The purpose of organizing this competition is to help the participants nurture their prime advocacy skills. The Department of Law, MAIMS has been successful in organizing several mega-events in the recent past, including Intra Moot Court Competition (2019), Intra Trial Advocacy Competition (2020), 1st National Moot Court Competition (2020) as well as an Induction Moot Court Competition. The Inaugural Ceremony of the event will be organised in a Physical Mode (subject to the prevailing Government Protocols). In wake of the pandemic, we are holding the Competition Rounds at a Virtual Platform in order to ensure safety of the participants.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

I. PROGRAM DETAILS

The MAIMS 2nd National Moot Court Competition, 2021, will be held in a Hybrid Mode from 26th November to 28th November 2021.

  • The competition is open for students who are pursuing LL.B three-year / five-year course during the current academic year.
  • Only one team is permitted to participate from each participating Institution.
  • Each team shall consist of three members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances.
  • In a team consisting of three members, two members shall be designated as ‘Speakers,’ and the third member shall be designated as ‘Researcher.’
  • All the participating teams must confirm participation by filling a Registration Form on or before October 25, 2021.
  • As per the rules, each team upon completition of registration shall be allotted a unique Team Code for the competition. Each team must use the Team Code for further communication with the organizers during the course of the competition.
  • Any change in team composition must be intimated to the Organizer at the earliest through e-mail (mootcourtsociety@maims.ac.in). Such change must be accompanied by a freshly filled registration form.
  • Participants will receive an approval email, signifying the acceptance of their request for participation latest by October 27, 2021.
  • The participating teams are required to pay Rs. 3,000/- as registration fees

ABOUT DLSA:

District Legal Services Authority erstwhile Delhi Legal Aid & Advice Board has been constituted by an Act of Parliament passed under “The Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987” as amended by Legal Services Authorities (Amendment) Act, 2002, to provide free and competent legal service to the weaker sections of the society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities, and to organize Lok Adalats to secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on a basis of equal opportunity.

AIM AND PURPOSE:

Courtroom – The Law Society of CLS-GIBS takes immense pleasure in announcing the 3rd National Virtual Moot Court Competition in collaboration with DLSA-North. The competition aims at providing a firsthand exposure to the practical aspects of the legal profession to the students participating in the event. The objective of the competition is to give exposure to law students on important issues arising in contemporary socio-eco-legal settings. Law students who participate in the competition will have the opportunity to develop their research, legal writing and oral advocacy skills in a mock courtroom setting.

DATE:

The Competition shall be held on 20th and 21st March, 2021 in virtual mode.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

The competition is structured as per the following format: (i) Preliminary Round (Round 1 & Round 2) (ii) Semi Final Round (iii) Final Round VIRTUAL PLATFORM DESCRIPTION The Oral Rounds shall be conducted through Zoom. The participants shall receive a link for their respective court rooms. Each Virtual Court room shall have participants from Two Teams, Judges, and Two Bailiffs. However, the Organizers may at several instances join in any of the Court Rooms for inspection. Each person in the Virtual Court Room shall keep their video camera turned on and the microphone turned off (mute) and only such person shall keep their microphone turned on whenever they are required to speak. Please note, that the organizers may also switch to a different platform if any technical issue arises, and the same shall be notified to all the teams in advance.

ELIGIBILITY:

Students of 3 year or 5 year law degree courses from any BCI approved University/College/ Institution/ Department are eligible to apply for registration of their team. However, only one team shall be allowed to participate from one College/ Institution/ Department. Provided if any college is running both the programmes, (3 year and 5 Year) they may send two teams exclusively one from each programme.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

TEAM COMPOSITION:

(i) Each team shall consist only of three members, comprising of two Mooters and one Researcher.

(ii) Any alteration/change in the names of the team members shall be intimated in writing by the Dean / Director/ Head of the Department of the School/ Department /College of Law, of the team requesting such alteration/change positively to the Organizing Committee. However, any such alteration is permitted only once.

About the Institute

School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, was founded and is administered by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI).  It one of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the NAAC.

About the Competition

The National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) is the flagship event of the Moot Court Society of School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. The previous editions of the NMCC have hosted various legal luminaries including Late Shri Ram Jethmalani, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao, and Ms. Indira Jai Singh, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India. The 11th edition of the National Moot Court Competition is scheduled to be held from November 5 to 8, 2020 virtually.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing 3-year or 5-year Bachelor’s Degree in Law, from Colleges/Universities recognized by BCI.
  • Only one team per college/institution/university shall be allowed to participate.

Registration

  • Registration shall be based on a first come first serve basis to 40 participating teams.
  • Registration shall be successful upon completion of all formalities mentioned in the Rules.

The 1st Lawschole Moot Court Competition aims to provide law students with excellence in the world of mooting. The top 8 rankers of the competition will also get a chance to represent their institution in the “Yearly Rounds of the Pracs Series- Lawschole Moot Court Competition”, which shall be held in January every year. The top 8 rankers shall get a direct entry to the yearly rounds of the competition at a global level. This event is an excellent opportunity for law students to turn things around and use their time wisely. The event will enhance the advocacy and drafting skills of the participants. The aim of this competition is to enable law students all across India to participate and showcase their majesty over law and legal principles over a virtual platform.


ELIGIBILITY

Students of three year and five-year law degree courses or PG students from any University/Law School/College/Department are eligible to apply for registration of their team.


TEAM SIZE AND OTHER INFORMATION

Each team shall consist of a minimum of two participants and a maximum of three; two participants shall be the speaker and one participant as a Researcher. However, a team consisting of two participants are allowed as Speaker 1 and 2.
Maximum 20 teams are allowed to participate in the 1st Lawschole Virtual Moot Court Competition on a first-come-first-served basis.


REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

i) The last date of registration shall be August 5, 2020. Early Bird Registrations are open from July 20 to July 31, 2020. The registration shall be on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, if the Team cap limit of 20 (Twenty) Teams is filled beforehand, the registration for the competition shall close.


ii) Registration amount is Rs. 500/- (From July 20 to July 31, 2020). – EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
Registration amount is Rs. 600/-. (On or after August 1, 2020, to August 5, 2020)


iii) The Registration shall be done by filling up the Application form, available here:
