Roles and responsibilities

  1. Support in drafting, reviewing and redlining contracts e.g. NDA, Service Agreements, Software Agreements and other transactional documents received from business teams. Highlighting legal risks involved and aligning the same with the organization’s objectives and applicable laws. Communicate contract-related information to all stakeholders and ensure complete contract closure, extension or renewal, as appropriate.
  2. Draft and assist in designing standard contract templates with different versions to accommodate varying business scenarios. Maintaining clause playbook/library with various scenarios including best and fallback positions
  3. Perform appropriate operational research in areas of commercial law as relevant to the company’s business and prospects to support contract development.
  4. Facilitate escalation of unresolved issues, approval and signature.
  5. Research and analyse areas of commercial law as relevant to the company’s business and prospects and prepare memos or position statements for different audiences.
  6. Prepare and maintain a repository of all legal records and Legal MIS.
  7. Support in digitalization of legal processes and workflows.

5th Year law students enrolled in 5 year Law degree course; 3rd (final year) students of 3 year Law Degree course.

About GNLU International Research Colloquium

GNLU International Research Colloquium (GIRC) is an annual event organized by the Research and Development Cell, GNLU which it aims to bring together researchers from across the country, and the world, to deliberate and discuss matters of contemporary relevance through an interdisciplinary perspective. The Colloquium will commence in the month of July and will end in the month of June of the succeeding year. It will be conducted in three phases; each phase will be called a workshop. There will be eight sessions in each workshop, conducted by national and international experts on various dimensions of research methodology, publication, and the theme(s) of the Colloquium.

The participants shall be expected to develop a research article on the theme(s) of their choice during the one-year time period and the same shall be presented before the expert panel. Based on the review, selected papers shall be published in the form of a book or in a national/international journal of repute.

The workshop will end with an Annual Research Meet where academicians and research scholars will get an opportunity to present their work to experts and get their valuable input. Apart from this, the Meet would also bring together research scholars from diverse fields and disciplinary backgrounds to interact with each other and share the progress of their research.

About the Workshops

Workshop I (Two Days, Eight Sessions)
The first workshop spread over a period of two days and eight sessions, will give the participants an opportunity to present their ideas and proposals to experts from the research and publication industry along with experts specialising in the particular theme(s) of the Colloquium. The experts would also conduct sessions on diverse areas of research
writing and publication and on the main theme, and sub-themes, of the Colloquium.

Workshop II (Two Days, Eight Sessions)
The second workshop spread over a period of two days and eight sessions, will give the participants an opportunity to present to experts the progress they’ve made in the area that they chose to work on in workshop I. Experts from relevant theme(s) would go through the work of the participants and provide them with feedback and suggestions, if any. Apart from this, expert sessions would be conducted on advanced research techniques like Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Literature Review (SLR).

Workshop III (Three Days)
The third and final workshop would conclude the year-long event with the final presentation of the Research Paper or Manuscript written by the participants.

Eligibility

  • Researchers and Scholars registered for M.Phil. /Ph.D./PDF in Law, Social Sciences or Interdisciplinary Research is eligible for participation in the Colloquium.
  • For international participants, the Colloquium may be in hybrid mode.

Selection Process

The Colloquium invites a proposal of 500-1000 words from the applicants along with the duly filled application form. The selection shall be based completely on the basis of the proposal. The proposal should be a detailed summary of the work that s states the problem, the objectives, and the methodology to be used.

It should be single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font. Co-authorship is not allowed.

The Directorate of Legal Affairs, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs is entrusted with defending all indirect taxes matters (Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and GST) before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The Directorate hereby invites applications for internships for the FY 2023-24.

Eligibility

(i) Law students who are pursuing a 3-year LLB course/5-year integrated LLB course.
(ii) Law graduates who have completed a 3-year LLB course/5-year integrated LLB course for not more than two years.

Students who have appeared in the final year/ semester examination on the cutoff date are eligible to apply in the Law graduate category. Such candidates, applying as having appeared in the final year/ semester examination, will have to
show proof of having passed the LLB course at the time of joining.

Scope of internship

The internship shall take place in Delhi. The interns are expected to study case files, assist in legal research and drafting of petitions, brief the counsels and extend any other related legal/general assistance to officers/counsels. The interns may also accompany the departmental officers to the briefing meetings if needed. The interns will be deployed in different sections of the legal establishment in CBIC.

Number of Positions

A maximum of ten law students and ten law graduates (a total of twenty) will be taken at a time for an internship. The internship is likely to commence on 01.07.2023.

Tenure

  • Law students shall be taken as interns for one to two months. The period of internship may be increased to the maximum total period of three months by the Principal Commissioner, Directorate of Legal Affairs on mutual
    agreement.
  • Law graduates shall be taken as interns for up to six months. The period of internship may be increased to the maximum total period of one year by the Principal Commissioner, Directorate of Legal Affairs on mutual
    agreement.

Stipend

  • The student interns will receive a stipend of Rs. 5,000/- per month for satisfactory conduct of the internship.
  • The graduate interns will receive a stipend of Rs. 15,000/- per month for satisfactory conduct of the internship.

About The Archaeological Survey of India

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ministry of Culture is the premier organization for the archaeological research and protection of the cultural heritage of the nation. Maintenance of ancient monuments and archaeological sites and remains of national importance is the prime concern of the ASI. For the maintenance of ancient monuments and archaeological sites and remains of national importance, the entire country is divided into 37 Circles under the 5 Regional Directorate offices. The Archaeological Survey of India regulates the AMAS ACT 1958 and its Rules 1959, also regulates Antiquities and Art Treasures Act 1972 and its Rules 1973, although regulates the Contract Labor (Regulation and Abolition) Act 1970 and its Rules 1971. There are more than 1400 court cases in all over India before the Supreme Court, High Courts, Tribunals and District Courts etc. and they may arise in the areas of arbitration on contractual disputes, Service matters, land acquisition matters and compensation thereto, criminal matters, intellectual property rights, encroachments, illegal constructions in Prohibited and Regulated areas of the centrally protected monuments.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) intends to engage 15 Young Legal Professionals purely on a contract basis at the Circle offices/Regional Directorate offices/ASI Head Quarters for a period of one year if otherwise not extended for curtailed. The contractual engagement shall be on a need basis and shall not confer any right or privileges for regular appointment.

Essential Qualification for Young Legal Professional

  • A degree in Law from a recognized University/National Institute.
  • Enrolled with any State Bar Council to practice as an advocate.

Desirable Qualification

  • Knowledge of Indian History, Archaeology, and Antiquity is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the concerned state’s regional language is preferred.
  • Candidate having experience working in Government/Autonomous organizations/PSU will be preferred.
  • Candidate having experience in dealing with cases of Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act (AMASR) Act 1958, Antiquity and Art Treasures (AAT) Act 1972 and the Contract Labor (Regulation and Abolition) Act 1970 will be preferred.

Experience

  • Possesses at least 3 years experience in handling court cases in High Court/CAT/Supreme Court and on labour-related issues on a continuous basis. He/ She should be well-versed in dealing with legal matters in different courts of law.
  • The candidate should be proficient in working on MS Word and other computer applications

Tenure of Engagement

  • The period of engagement will be initially for a period of one year, which may, at the discretion of the competent authority be further extended by one more year or curtailed.
  • He / She can be terminated without notice by the competent authority if at any time the conduct, performance, or activities of the individual are found detrimental to the interests of the department.

Remuneration and Other Conditions

  • The consolidated remuneration for Young Legal Professional shall be Rs. 70,000/- p.m.
  • No other allowance will be payable. However, if the Young Legal Professional travels out of the Headquarters, He / She will be entitled to TA/DA in terms of guidelines issued by the Ministry of Culture.
  • The assignment is on a full-time basis and the Young Legal Professional will be required to attend the office on all working days and on holidays if required.
  • The Young Legal Professional will be required to maintain decorum, and discipline as expected of a Central Govt. officer.
  • The rest of the terms and conditions of engagement shall be governed by the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Culture.
