The CLM team provides end-to-end assistance on all types of commercial contracting to the legal and business teams of large MNCs and law firms. The Pre-execution arm (or Drafting team) is set up to function as an extension of the in-house legal team and assist the contracting process from the point business requests a contract, to when the contract is approved and signed. We also work in collaboration with various client stakeholders and key decision makers to operationalize legal functions for large MNCs through automation and process engineering.

Your key responsibilities

The Role

The Foundation is recruiting a highly skilled and dynamic Legal Programme Manager to grow and strengthen our award-winning TrustLaw programme across Asia. We have a growing presence in the region but see great potential for continuing to broaden and deepen the reach of our service, particularly across the Foundation’s focus areas of media freedom, inclusive economies and human rights. The position would be based in Mumbai and work closely with our Asia Legal Officer, who is based in Mumbai, and our Asia Programme Officer, who is based in Thailand, both of whom provide support to TrustLaw’s activities across the region.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Designing and implementing strategies to expand and strengthen the TrustLaw service, ensuring we serve the best NGOs, social enterprises and legal teams and we deepen TrustLaw’s work across the focus areas of media freedom, inclusive economies and human rights.
  • Managing relationships with key TrustLaw members and facilitating their engagement with the service, through hosting events and regular communications.
  • Scoping legal pro bono requests from our community of NGOs and social enterprises so that the requests clearly explain the legal needs.
  • Managing pro bono requests, including connecting the pro bono client with lawyers and following up with the parties involved.
  • Designing and managing multiple cross-border research programmes that address the most critical social and policy needs facing our NGO and social enterprise members.
  • Line management of a Programme Officer based in Bangkok and a Legal Officer based in Mumbai.
  • Providing leadership or support, as appropriate, in the design, implementation and resourcing of strategic Thomson Reuters Foundation projects in the region or globally.

Job Summary

The role is to position GSK India as a key player with Government-Policy Makers and Community Representatives at Centre and state level across country. The role ensures GSK plays an active part in shaping the Indian healthcare environment, delivers alignment between the position of the Indian Government and that of GSK on any key issues relevant to GSK’s India’s pharmaceutical operations and builds trust with key internal and external stakeholders, including enhancing our ways of working and the perception of GSK and its products.

Key Responsibilities

– Lead development and implementation of Policy & Advocacy Strategy for GSK in India

– Develop and strengthen the Government Affairs capability.

– Engage with Commercial leads to identify and prioritise Policy & Advocacy issues and lead the development of plans around these issues that are market specific.

– Develop the policy content/material : identify, develop and produce policy material on key issues to support government interactions.

– Build partnerships with local and regional Policy & Advocacy Stakeholders (incl. senior policy-makers, Advocacy Groups, NGO’s, etc.) to support business, build reputation and improve access.

– Build interactions with government affairs colleagues across GSK Government Affairs and provide leadership and focus as appropriate.

– Provide intelligence to the International Leadership team (and India Leadership Team) on Policy trends and activities to identify and support future growth opportunity

– Drive Grant strategy, maintaining ethical and responsible standards and supporting GSK’s reputation.

– Promote and enhance the reputation of GSK India – the business, brands and people through stakeholder engagement and participation and recognition of GSK as a trusted partner in Healthcare Policy.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Graduate / Post Graduate with 15 – 20 Years of experience
  • Experience in Government Affairs
  • Extensive experience in government organizations
  • Experience of implementing and measuring government affairs strategies and programs to support business objectives
  • Experience interacting with national, regional and international policymakers

Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • LAW degree / MBA
  • Successful engagement with policy makers and government activities
  • Understanding of political, legal, regulatory and social environment
  • Understanding of the political, economic and social sensitivities and practices
