K. R. Mangalam University is organizing Inter-University Moot Court Competition 2022.

ABOUT

National Moot Court Competition is a national level competition organized by the School of Legal Studies. It brings together students from different law schools of the country to compete in fast- paced and challenging professional environment. It aims at giving exposure to law students on important issues arising in contemporary socio-economic and legal environment.

ELIGIBILITY

Students enrolled in a full-time or part-time law programme at the time of the competition are eligible to compete in the Competition. Institution can send more than one team.

TEAMS

  • A team consisting of three members that satisfies the eligibility criteria can participate.
  • Each team shall comprise of two speakers and one Researcher.
  • Only the speakers are allowed to present and argue. The researcher will not be given a chance to speak unless specifically allowed by the Judges.
  • No team member may be replaced after the team’s memorial has been received by the Competition Committee, except with the express written consent of the Competition Committee, which will require a showing of good cause.

  • Teams are requested to complete their registration by 26th November 2022 (Saturday).

DNLU’s Centre for Research and Studies in Human Rights (CRaSH) is inviting submissions for its Blog, on ‘International Conflict & Human Rights’.

ABOUT

The Centre for Research and Studies in Human Rights (CRaSH), Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, is an endeavour of the University to respond to the emerging regime of Human Rights. The Centre seeks to undertake interdisciplinary studies involving legal academia and other stakeholders and contribute in the best possible manner to the global pool of knowledge on the subject.

THEME

World is currently experiencing turmoil as ‘International Conflict’. Deviating from the original meaning of the term, increasingly, it also applies to inter-group conflicts within a country when one group is fighting for independence or increased social, political, or economic power such as noticed in Sudan/South Sudan, Iraq and Syria. In recent decades, armed conflict has plighted the lives of millions of civilians. Serious violations of international humanitarian and human rights law are common in many armed conflicts. Some of these violations have been seen to constitute genocide, war crimes or crimes against humanity. 

The theme International Conflict and Human Rights is aimed at providing a platform to explore the causes, courses, and consequences of international conflict (including but not limited to war, revolution, political disputes, terrorism, and genocide).

DURATION

As per new policy for Blog, effective from November 2022, the Centre calls for submissions on a monthly rolling basis. The submissions will be accepted from 15th of the month till 15th of the next month, for publication in the following month of the submission cycle.

The blog will run an overarching theme inviting submissions on the same. The broader theme will be effective for a period of 6 months. The general submissions will not impliedly be barred; however, acceptance of the general submissions will be at the discretion of the Editors.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Word Limit: The word-limit for the manuscripts is between 1000-1500 words.
  • Font: All submissions must be made in the font Times New Roman or Georgia with heading size 14, text size 12 and spacing 1.5.
  • Co-authorship: Up to a maximum of 2 authors is permitted.
  • Citation Format: · Bluebook 20th edition. 
  • Format: All the entries should be submitted in (.doc) or (.docx) format.
  • Originality: The entries must be original, unpublished, and an outcome of the author(s’) own efforts. The Blog follows a limited plagiarism policy and plagiarism beyond that limit will lead to disqualification for publication on the Blog.
  • Title: The title should be brief and one that clearly communicates the topic and conveys the essence of the piece to the reader.
  • The submission should be emailed at crash@mpdnlu.ac.in
  • The submission email should accompany a cover letter/email with the relevant details.
  • Note: The subject of the mail for submission should read ‘Submission for CRaSH Blog: Month & Year’.

The Chair on Consumer Laws at National Law University, Delhi in association with the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India is organizing the 4th edition of the National Quiz Competition (Online) 2022 on Consumer Protection Laws on November 12, 2022.

ABOUT

In this light, the Chair on Consumer Laws at National Law University Delhi is organising the 4th Edition of National Quiz Competition on Consumer Protection Laws 2022 on November 12, 2022. The objective is to provide an opportunity and a conducive platform to students from various universities to expand, explore and develop their knowledge of consumer laws through the medium of a National Quiz.

The Quiz will be held online, in two stages: Stage 1 shall be an MCQ preliminary test. After the results have been compiled, the shortlisted candidates shall be contacted over email for Stage 2 (i.e. the Final Round to be administered via Live Video Conferencing).

PRIZES

The top 3 participants will be awarded cash prizes:

  • 1st position: ₹6,000
  • 2nd position: ₹4.000
  • 3rd position: ₹2,000
  • All participants will be issued Certificates of Participation.

The Quiz promises to be an enriching and exciting way of learning more about consumer protection laws in India.

RULES

  • The participants are advised to have seamless internet connectivity. In case a participant logs out or disconnects from the quiz at any time due to internet connectivity or otherwise, they will be treated as an ‘external person’ for the remainder of the quiz; i.e. they cannot rejoin the Quiz. The organizers will NOT entertain any complaints regarding connectivity in view of the sanctity of the National Quiz
  • Each participant shall provide one valid email address to the Chair at the time of registration.
  • The Chair has the sole discretion to enforce, clarify, interpret the rules; resolve any disputes that may arise during the Competition and has the power to change/supplement the rules, if any changes or supplements are necessary.

JOURNAL’S MANDATE

The Journal intends to foster academic scholarship in commercial law by examining the yriad regulatory and legal frameworks, be it domestic or international, that impact business and commerce in either India or abroad. We particularly welcome submissions with a comparative law perspective, with a focus on India or the developing country context generally.

Its mandate, amongst other things, includes company law, securities law, banking and finance, tax law, international investment law, international commercial arbitration, commercial dispute resolution, intellectual property law, contract law, and employment law.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Long Form Articles: Between 6,000 and 10,000 words. Submissions in this category are expected to engage with the topic, its theme, and available literature comprehensively so as to offer a novel and original reassessment.
  • Essays: Between 4,000 and 6,000 words. Submissions in this category are comparatively more concise and limited in their scope. Essays usually deal with a very specific topic as compared to Long Form Articles.
  • Case/Legislative Comments: Between 1,500 to 3,000 words. Submissions in this category are expected critically analyze a recent court decision or legislative/policy proposal, either in India or abroad, and comment on its implications.
  • Book Reviews: Between 2,000 to 3,000 words. Submissions in this category are expected to critically analyze and engage with a recent academic book that falls under our mandate.
  • Submissions must be accompanied with an abstract of not more than 250 words.
  • Submitted manuscripts must not contain any biographical information regarding the authors, such as names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgments, etc. This information can be added at a later stage if the manuscript is accepted for publication.
  • Submissions made to the Journal must be on an exclusive basis and not be under concurrent consideration by any other academic or non-academic publication.
  • Potential authors may choose a topic that is contemporarily relevant.
