About the Workshop

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become ubiquitous in our daily lives, and its impact can be felt across a broad spectrum of fields. With the swift development of AI, it becomes paramount to understand its interplay with the present legal framework. The Intellectual Property (IP) framework is one of the most suitable regimes to deal with the regulation of AI, which is indispensable in the current scenario. This Workshop has been designed to offer insight into AI’s impact on IP.

The Journal Committee (“Committee”) at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (“RMLNLU”), in collaboration with Nishith Desai Associates, is organizing the 10th edition of the RMLNLU International Legal Essay Competition and Conference on Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Law (“RILEC”).

About RILEC

Since its inception in 2013, RILEC has expanded to greater horizons and today it is an internationally anticipated event. Every year, the Committee labours to promote legal scholarship. We provide intellectually challenging and contemporarily relevant themes for the legal fraternity to research and write on. During our journey, we have covered numerous themes of law ranging from International Trade Law to Labour Law.

About the Event

Pursuant to the Call for Papers released in October 2022, the Committee received numerous submissions from reputed law schools across India. After jointly conducting several rounds of review with Nitish Desai Associates, three papers were selected to be presented at the conference. The presentation would be followed by a round of questions which will help the attendees develop a better understanding of the recent developments in the field of IPR and Technology.

About the Workshop

The workshop, ‘Navigating the World of Intellectual Property: A Career Exploration’, is going to take place on 7^th April, 2023 at 3.00 P.M. in the college premises only. In this workshop, we are going to discuss about IP transactions specifying to areas of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets as well as have a discussion on types of IP transactions including licensing, agreement, sale of IP products and IP aspects of corporate transactions.

The Conference and Workshop are to be conducted on 7th April 2023 from 12 PM and 3 PM respectively. There will be a break of an hour from 2 PM to 3 PM. All registered attendees shall be provided with certificates of attendance.

ABOUT DSNLU

The Government of Andhra Pradesh established Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) vide DSNLU Act, 2008 at Visakhapatnam to impart quality legal education. It is recognized u/s 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, and the BCI. It has also been granted 12B status by the UGC and 28th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework by the Ministry of Education in 2021. The start-up culture in India is expanding exponentially and successful Entrepreneurs are identified in almost every field. With its increased potential in the global market as the 5th largest economy, India has gained momentum to be the market leader in the future. The Indian start-up ecosystem in the last decade has witnessed 10 unicorns and hundreds of new start-ups gaining investor confidence across the globe.

DSLIC understands that there is a need to conduct entrepreneurship workshops to skill and up-skill young creative minds. The competitive market poses challenges to budding entrepreneurs to start, succeed and sustain. Some are born Entrepreneurs but some need to be skilled; some may succeed and some may not, So, we believe that few skills may be inculcated and imbibed through training.

In this direction, the Two-day National-level workshop is planned, because any start-up needs a good leader, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a vast understanding of subjects like Management, Technology, and Law with other disciplines, like socio, political, economic, and cultural environment. Any leader needs to have a basic understanding of Management Information Systems, Strategic Management, Operational Management, Human Resources, Finance,
Marketing, etc, which are relevant for any start-up including a law firm.

The objective of this workshop is to promote a learning strategy that helps the participants as transit in their journey towards achieving their dream.
