The Centre for Comparative Constitutional Law & Administrative Law and the Constitutional Law Society at National Law University Jodhpur are delighted to announce a joint initiative – a National Seminar titled ‘Constitutionalism in Contemporary Times’ to be held virtually (CISCO WEBEX) on 23–24th September 2023. The deadline for the abstract submission is 14th August 2023. This seminar aims to provide a platform for legal scholars, practitioners, academicians and students to engage in thoughtful discussions and deliberations on pressing contemporary issues within constitutional law. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the seminar seeks to foster an enriching exchange of ideas, critical analysis and novel insights into the evolving landscape of constitutional jurisprudence.

Objectives of Seminar

The objectives of the seminar are as follows:·

  • To promote an enriching discussion and discourse on contemporary issues in the field of constitutional law.
  • To encourage comprehensive research and understanding of the evolution of Constitutional issues over time.
  • To impart and expand the knowledge of students and scholars on various issues and a critical understanding of the same.
  • Encourage students to develop independent thought, depth of knowledge, clear reasoning, critical analysis and persuasive styles.
  • Facilitate academic exposure to participants by organising discussions and facilitating interactions between participants and experts.

Submission Guidelines

  • Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts that reflect the core argument of the paper in clear terms with a maximum of two authors per submission.
  • The abstract shall be within 300 words. At least five keywords must be highlighted.
  • The abstract shall contain the names, email addresses and designations of the authors.

About the Institute

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) is a public law school and a National Law University located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute in 2005, and since then, has been providing undergraduate and post-graduate legal education. RMLNLU Law Review (‘Journal’) is an annual peer-reviewed journal published by the Journal Committee of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow which seeks to provide numerous insights and views into contemporary legal issues and encourages conversations about the same. The RMLNLU Law Review runs parallel to the RMLNLU Law Journal on CMET (Communications, Media, Entertainment, and Technology).

After having celebrated thirteen years of immense success and acclaim as a reputed Journal, we are pleased to announce the call for papers for Volume XIV of the RMLNLU Law Review. The Editorial Board of the Law Review works in close collaboration with an Advisory Board to select articles for publication. The expertise and experience of the diversely composed Advisory Board, which has representation in the form of professors, advocates and legal professionals, is to provide a holistic review of each article and uphold the standard of the articles that finally get accepted for publication; with there being a great emphasis on quality research, the relevance of topic and novel contributions in the scrutiny phase of review.

Call for Papers

The Journal accepts submissions from law students and professionals all over the country and abroad, under the following categories:

  • Articles: 5000-7000 words
  • Essays: 4000-5000 words
  • Case notes/comments: 2000-3000 words
  • Book Reviews: 2000-3000 words

Review Process

  • There shall be a rigorous review process comprising 3 stages. Members of the Advisory Board will be closely involved in the review process.
  • This would ensure a greater standard of review and identification of quality academic writing.
  • The authors shall be intimated about the status of their manuscript at every stage.

  • Content:
    • Font – Times New Roman
    • Font size – 12 pts.
    • Line spacing – 1.5
    • Margin – 1” from all sides
    • Alignment: Justified
  • Footnotes:
    • Font – Times New Roman
    • Font size – 10 pts
    • Line Spacing – 1.0
    • All the sources in the footnotes must be properly cited strictly in accordance with the latest OSCOLA (4th edition) format. No endnotes or speaking footnotes (descriptive footnotes) are allowed.

General Submission Guidelines

  • The submissions may be on any contemporary legal issue. The authors are expected to adhere to the prescribed word limit (excluding footnotes and abstract), as indicated above.
  • Each of these entries shall be required to conform to the set of guidelines that follow.
  • An abstract of about 250-300 words and 5 keywords should be mandatorily included in the same Word document as a part of the submission.
  • The title should be Bold, Underlined, in Capitals, Size 16, and Centre Aligned.
  • Headings should be Bold, in Capitals, Size 14, and left-aligned.
  • The contents should in no way, directly or indirectly, indicate or reference the identity of the author(s).
  • Co-Authorship to a maximum of two members is allowed. However, co-authorship is not allowed in “book reviews” and “case-notes/comments”.
  • Please note that all submissions must adhere to a strict plagiarism limit of 33%, as any papers exceeding this threshold will be automatically rejected.

  • The submissions may be emailed at lawreview.rmlnlu[at]gmail.com in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • The name of the attached submission in the email, i.e., the name of the document must be the name(s) of the author(s). Please note that only one submission per author or a team of co-authors is permissible. In case of more than one submission, only the one received first would be considered for review.
  • The subject title for the mail must be ‘Article/Essay/Case Comment/Book Review for Volume XIV’.

General Instructions

  • The submission must exhibit originality in thought, critical evaluation, and careful interpretations. Submission of a paper shall be taken to imply that it is an unpublished work and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  • The author(s) must include the cover letter in the body of the mail, which must contain all the relevant biographical details (Name of the author(s), their degrees, Designation, Name of College/University/Institution, Postal Address, Phone Number and Email ID). A separate attachment for a cover letter shall not be entertained.
  • Editors’ decision shall be final and binding. They reserve the sole rights to the publication of the selected articles in addition to; inter alia, any edits/amends/reproduction. About NLR

The NLIU Law Review is the flagship journal of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. It is a peer-reviewed academic law journal, published biannually by the students of the University. The Law Review aims to promote a culture of scholarly research and academic writing by bringing to the forefront, articles on subjects of interest to the legal profession and academia.

As of the year 2023, the Law Review has completed thirteen successful years, with nineteen editions in publication. NLR has been successfully recognised by, and indexed on several databases including Manupatra, SCC and HeinOnline.

NLIU Law Review is now accepting submissions of manuscripts for publication in Volume XIII, Issue I of the journal.

Theme

The NLIU Law Review does not restrict itself to any particular area of law and welcomes contributions from all branches of law, as long as the work is relevant, up-to-date and original.

Mode of Submission

  • Submissions must be made only through the electronic form available on our website. Submissions made through any other medium, including by way of emails, shall not be considered for review by the Editorial Board.
  • All the submissions must be in (.docx) format. They must be word processed and compatible with Microsoft Word 2007 or above.
  • The manuscript should not contain any information that can be used to identify the author. All the relevant details must be mentioned only within the form attached.
  • Submissions must be made on or before 23:59 hours on August 31, 2023.
  • Authors shall receive an email acknowledging the receipt of their manuscript within ten days of receiving the entry. If the same is not received, authors can write at lawreview@nliu.ac.in.

Types of Submissions accepted by the NLIU Law Review:

Manuscripts on any topic of contemporary legal relevance meeting the below-mentioned criteria:

  • Articles: 4,000-10,000 words
  • Case Notes: 2,000-5,000 words
  • Legislative Comments: 1,000-3,000 words
  • Book reviews: 1,000-3,000 words

The word limit is exclusive of the abstract and the footnotes.

Submission Guidelines

  • Manuscripts submitted to the Journal must not be co-authored by more than two persons. Authors are permitted to send only one submission per author or a team of co-authors.
  • Manuscripts must include an abstract of 250-300 words. The abstract must highlight the structure and the essence of the manuscript.
  • Authors are requested to strictly adhere to our Submission Guidelines. 
  • All the submissions must comply with our Copyright and Open Access Policy.
  • Manuscripts not in conformity with the Submission Guidelines may be rejected at the sole discretion of the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board reserves the right to send the manuscripts back to the authors for any modification(s) at any stage, in the event of non-conformity with any of the submission guidelines.
  • The Editorial Board may, in its absolute discretion, waive any of the above rules or amend the process. In case of any dispute or ambiguity, the decision of the Editorial Board shall be final and binding.

About GNLU International Research Colloquium

GNLU International Research Colloquium (GIRC) is an annual event organized by the Research and Development Cell, GNLU which it aims to bring together researchers from across the country, and the world, to deliberate and discuss matters of contemporary relevance through an interdisciplinary perspective. The Colloquium will commence in the month of July and will end in the month of June of the succeeding year. It will be conducted in three phases; each phase will be called a workshop. There will be eight sessions in each workshop, conducted by national and international experts on various dimensions of research methodology, publication, and the theme(s) of the Colloquium.

The participants shall be expected to develop a research article on the theme(s) of their choice during the one-year time period and the same shall be presented before the expert panel. Based on the review, selected papers shall be published in the form of a book or in a national/international journal of repute.

The workshop will end with an Annual Research Meet where academicians and research scholars will get an opportunity to present their work to experts and get their valuable input. Apart from this, the Meet would also bring together research scholars from diverse fields and disciplinary backgrounds to interact with each other and share the progress of their research.

About the Workshops

Workshop I (Two Days, Eight Sessions)
The first workshop spread over a period of two days and eight sessions, will give the participants an opportunity to present their ideas and proposals to experts from the research and publication industry along with experts specialising in the particular theme(s) of the Colloquium. The experts would also conduct sessions on diverse areas of research
writing and publication and on the main theme, and sub-themes, of the Colloquium.

Workshop II (Two Days, Eight Sessions)
The second workshop spread over a period of two days and eight sessions, will give the participants an opportunity to present to experts the progress they’ve made in the area that they chose to work on in workshop I. Experts from relevant theme(s) would go through the work of the participants and provide them with feedback and suggestions, if any. Apart from this, expert sessions would be conducted on advanced research techniques like Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Literature Review (SLR).

Workshop III (Three Days)
The third and final workshop would conclude the year-long event with the final presentation of the Research Paper or Manuscript written by the participants.

Eligibility

  • Researchers and Scholars registered for M.Phil. /Ph.D./PDF in Law, Social Sciences or Interdisciplinary Research is eligible for participation in the Colloquium.
  • For international participants, the Colloquium may be in hybrid mode.

Selection Process

The Colloquium invites a proposal of 500-1000 words from the applicants along with the duly filled application form. The selection shall be based completely on the basis of the proposal. The proposal should be a detailed summary of the work that s states the problem, the objectives, and the methodology to be used.

It should be single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font. Co-authorship is not allowed.

About Fellowship

The Academic Fellowship is a flagship programme created by the University to nurture early careers in academics in teaching and research. Academic Fellow is expected to contribute to the intellectual growth of the University and will be mentored by a Senior Faculty Member under the Chair of Professional Ethics at NLU Delhi. About DPIIT IPR Chair

Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, launched a Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA) in the year 2016 under which IPR Chairs have been set up in select universities and academic institutes. This was in accordance National IPR Policy launched by the Government of India in 2016, which proclaims, as one of the objectives under section 7.2, “Strengthen IP Chairs in educational institutes of higher learning to provide quality teaching and research, develop teaching capacity and curricula and evaluate their work on performance-based criteria.”

MNLU Mumbai has been selected by the DPIIT as one of the 12 universities/organizations for setting up IPR Chairs in the country. DPIIT has formulated the norms for establishing and functioning of the IPR Chair under SPRIHA.

Role and Responsibilities

Under the aegis of the DPIIT IPR Chair, MNLU Mumbai the incumbent shall perform the following role and responsibilities;

  1. Conduct Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) research in relevant areas of law as directed;
  2. Provide research assistance as and when required;
  3. Develop, plan, execute, monitor and report Intellectual Property Rights research in collaboration with external universities, institutions, government departments, industrial and economic agencies, and judiciary within India and abroad;
  4. Participate in overall planning and development of research, training and extension programs of DPIIT chair activities in the University;
  5. Perform any other duties including administration, coordination, etc. as required to achieve the aims and objectives of the DPIIT IPR – Chair and related research centre.

Essential Criteria

  1. Master’s Degree in law or LLB Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  2. Good knowledge of the latest national and international research trends and developments in the relevant area;
  3. Ability to conceptualize and organize international training workshops and brainstorming online/onsite discussions apart from teaching/Research.
  4. Fluency in the English language and knowledge of using computers is a must.

Remuneration

  • ₹40,000/- (Consolidated) for LLM Graduates
  • ₹30,000/- (Consolidated) for LLB Graduates

About CLL

The Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal aims to generate scholarship and work as a think tank for the robustness and soundness of Employer-Employee Relations Management. To bring better analytical clarity at national, regional and global levels, the Centre seeks to engage public and private stakeholders for working together on the exchange of ideas, policy recommendations and allied regulatory issues. The Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) was established in 2019 but hit the shot amidst the most uncertain times mankind had ever seen i.e. Covid-19 pandemic, due to its initiative christened as Mazdoor Mitra, wherein the plight of migrant workers during the initial phase of lockdown was in a blatant misery. A bearer of light and empathy then, CLL is one of its kind and serves as an embodiment of labour rights for the brick-bearers of our nation- the Labourers. Over the short span of 2 years, CLL has taken various collective, collaborative and consistent initiatives to seek justice and spread general awareness, respect and empathy for the nation’s labour class.

The theme for the Volume III of the journal shall be “Contemporary Developments and Trends in Labour and Employment Laws: Analysis and Implications.” The Journal seeks to explore the latest developments and trends in labour and employment laws and to analyze their implications on society, economy, and governance.

The Journal Committee (“Committee”) at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (“RMLNLU”), in collaboration with Nishith Desai Associates, is organizing the 10th edition of the RMLNLU International Legal Essay Competition and Conference on Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Law (“RILEC”).

About RILEC

Since its inception in 2013, RILEC has expanded to greater horizons and today it is an internationally anticipated event. Every year, the Committee labours to promote legal scholarship. We provide intellectually challenging and contemporarily relevant themes for the legal fraternity to research and write on. During our journey, we have covered numerous themes of law ranging from International Trade Law to Labour Law.

About the Event

Pursuant to the Call for Papers released in October 2022, the Committee received numerous submissions from reputed law schools across India. After jointly conducting several rounds of review with Nitish Desai Associates, three papers were selected to be presented at the conference. The presentation would be followed by a round of questions which will help the attendees develop a better understanding of the recent developments in the field of IPR and Technology.

About the Workshop

The workshop, ‘Navigating the World of Intellectual Property: A Career Exploration’, is going to take place on 7th April, 2023 at 3.00 P.M. in the college premises only. In this workshop, we are going to discuss about IP transactions specifying to areas of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets as well as have a discussion on types of IP transactions including licensing, agreement, sale of IP products and IP aspects of corporate transactions.

Centre for Research in Competition Law & Policy (“CRCLP”) at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal announced the Call for Papers for the Inaugural Volume of JRCLP.

About NLIU – Journal for Research in Competition Law and Policy (JRCLP)

JRCLP is an ambitious initiative of the Centre for Research in Competition Law and Policy (CRCLP), NLIU. It is an annual, double-blind, peer-reviewed journal. The inaugural volume of JRCLP is introduced to provoke conversation over key issues and new developments in the field of Competition Law, from both national and international perspectives. The journal aims to provide a platform to share knowledge, stimulate research, and kindle productive discussion on issues surrounding competition law. It also intends to foster collaboration between various stakeholders for a more progressive discourse.

Theme

The Journal is accepting submissions under the broad theme of “Recent developments in Competition Law and Policy”. The submissions must be original and unpublished and should have contemporary relevance.

Categories for Submission

The submissions are invited for the following categories:

  • Articles – 5,000 to 10,000 words
  • Short notes – 2,500 to 5,000 words
  • Book Reviews/Case Comments/Legislative Comments – 1,500 to 2,500 words (The word limits mentioned are exclusive of footnotes. )

Submissions Guidelines

  • The manuscript itself must not contain any Information as to the name(s) of the author(s), the institution, address or any other information that may reveal or indicate their identity.
  • Co-authorship is permitted for up to 2 authors. However, co-authorship is not allowed in case of Case Comments, Book Reviews and Legislative Comments.
  • Submissions are accepted for publication on the condition that they do not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third parties.
  • If the submission is found to be violative of any of the rights of the other party, the author(s) shall be solely responsible for such violation.
  • Submissions made should be on an exclusive basis l.e. submission should be unpublished and should not be under any concurrent consideration.
  • The editorial board reserves its rights to suggest changes/make amends/request to add or delete any portion of the submitted manuscript, based upon the discretion of the editor. The author(s) are supposed to The submissions made should not incorporate the suggested changes within plagiarised. Any submission in contravention of the specified time limit.

Formatting Guidelines

  • All original submissions must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 300 words which are exclusive of the word limit and should be included within the document of the manuscript.
  • The abstract must expressly include the novelty and usefulness of the idea that the author wishes to put forth and must categorically mention the specific contribution of the submission, beyond the existing available literature, and the practical utility of their recommendation.
  • The abstract must also contain 5 keywords at the end.
  • All submissions must be in MS Word format (.doc) or (.docx), with Times New Roman font (body: size 12, line spacing: 1.50; footnotes: size 10, line spacing: 1.00).
  • The Journal uses only footnotes (and not endnotes) as a method of citation.
  • The footnotes must conform to the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA, 4th Edition). Non-compliance with this may lead to disqualification.

Submission Guidelines

The authors must follow the guidelines given below

  • Manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter in a separate document containing the following details of the author and co-author(s) (if any): Name; Affiliation / Academic Qualification; Contact Number and e-mail address; Postal address.
  • The maximum number of authors permitted is two e., one author and one co-author
  • The manuscript shall not contain the name and affiliation of the author(s).

    Short articles should rigorously analyze the contemporary problem(s) and idea(s) relating to Intellectual Property Rights. They should ideally identify lacunae in the existing status quo, provide solutions, and alternative suggestions, and should include references to a range of sources.
  • Legislative Comment – 2000 – 3000 words
    The comment should provide a rigorous analysis of a recent legislative instrument. It should examine the objective of the legislation and the legal impact the same is expected to have.
