Alternative Dispute Resolution Board (ADRB) Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies & Research (HILSR), School of Law Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, is organizing the ‘Concordia: National ADR Fest‘ from 17th to 19th March 2023.

About the Institution

Jamia Hamdard (JH) was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri Rajiv Gandhi on August 1, 1989, who in his inspiring inaugural address applauded the efforts of Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb, the Founder, for setting up a number of institutions of learning which were finally merged to form a “Deemed to be University” namely Jamia Hamdard. In the words of Shri Rajiv Gandhi, “This will enable the minority to go forward and help India to march forward”.

Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research (HILSR) is one of the departments of Jamia Hamdard. Established in 2018 after approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI), HILSR aims to produce the finest legal professionals for the Bar, Bench and legal academy. Having recently admitted its fifth batch, HILSR currently offers a five-year Integrated B.A., LL.B, and LL.M programs and will start PhD. in law very soon.

Eligibility

The competition is open for students pursuing 3-year or 5-year LL.B or LL.M from any University approved by the Bar Council of India. No cross-university team shall be allowed to participate. Only one team per University may register.

  • To ensure that female entrepreneurs and businesswomen in general develop a complaints redressal mechanism at their place of business.

Virtual Debate competition

The UP Judicial Reform Council will hold its first-ever online debate competition. The competition’s goal is to provide a platform for students from various universities to come together and express themselves through well-thought-out arguments backed up by compelling evidence. Students will be able to hone their oratory skills by participating in a meaningful debate on important legal issues as part of this competition.

The Theme – Anti-Conversion Law

Precise theme- UP Anti-conversion Law- Good or Bad Law? 

On October 30, 2021, at 4 p.m., the debate competition will be held online via Google Meet.

Eligibility

To be eligible for participation, candidates must be enrolled in a graduate professional programme.

Time and Language

  • Each participant will have a maximum of 5 minutes to speak (4 minutes for constructive speech and 1 minute for rebuttal).
  • If the time limit is exceeded, the team’s overall score will be affected.
  • Participants have to speak only in English.

Marking Criteria

The participants will be evaluated depending on Matter, Manner, and Method by a panel of judges. The judges’ decision shall be final and irrefutable.

Guidelines

  1. The debate will take place entirely online.
  2. On the 27th of October, the participants were notified whether they will be speaking FOR or AGAINST the motion.
  3. The Debate Organizing Committee reserves the right to make changes to the rules/regulations at any time, and those changes will be binding.
  4. Winners and participants will receive e-certificates to their registered email addresses.
  5. The following steps must be followed by all participants:
    1. Join the Google Meetup community. ten minutes before the scheduled start time.
    2. Turn off their videos and mute their microphones until it’s their turn to speak.
    3. Refrain from speaking to the audience or other teams unless they have been assigned to you.
    4. During the programme, refrain from sharing your screen.
    5. Avoid reading continuously from a paper or electronic device. The participant will be automatically disqualified if he or she engages in such behaviour.
  6. Ensure that you have good internet access for a better learning experience.

  • Participants must submit the Online Registration Form by October 25, 2021, in the prescribed format. It is necessary to keep the confirmation for the same.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Nayi Pehal is organizing this competition through online platforms, keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic. The topic of the competition is also relevant to the current circumstances, which is as follows:

“भारत में निरंतर तालाबंदी ने छात्रों सहित समूची शिक्षा व्यवस्था को अपूरणीय क्षति पहुंचाई है।” “The continuous lockdown in India has dealt irreparable damage to both students and the entire education system.”

We hope that through this platform, students get another activity to exercise their brains and maintain the spirit of education even when everyone is locked in their homes. Eligibility Anyone who wishes to participate is eligible to take part in this competition. Language This is an online bilingual debate competition.

The medium for the debate shall be either Hindi or English. Hence, the participants can use either language but must stick to one language and not switch between them.

RULES AND REGULATION

1. Speaking Time is 3 minutes. On exceeding the time limit, marks may be deducted or the entry may be disqualified.

2. The format of entries will be in the form of pre-recorded videos (mp4 format)

3. The whole speech should be recorded in one go – any Editing, Trimming or Cuttings in a video is not allowed

. 4. Reading out the entire speech from a paper is not allowed. However, one can keep a short note for reference.

5. Participants shall send their videos via Google Drive share link on the Email ID being provided: nayipehalorg@gmail.com

7. Participants will be judged in 3 categories – CONTENT (10), DELIVERY (10), VOICE MODULATION AND PRONUNCIATION (10).

10. Videos of all the participants shall be uploaded by Nayi Pehal on its social media by 5th of June, 2020 to find the most popular debater. The number of likes received on each video till 11:59 P.M., 7th of June 2020, will be counted to find the most popular debater. Any likes received after that time limit will not be counted.
