About CIPR, NUALS

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) Kochi, established the ‘Centre for Intellectual Property Rights’ (CIPR) to promote Intellectual Property awareness among students, and to encourage research in the emerging arena of Intellectual property. The Centre fosters R&D activities that blend with its central mission of intellectual pursuit as well as link related interdisciplinary involvement to develop an intellectual law database, which would benefit the nation at large.

Call for Papers

The journal invites contributions for the 5th Volume of the Journal from academicians, practitioners of the legal profession, researchers, post-graduates, and undergraduate students of law.

Contributions may be in the form of articles, essays, notes, commentaries, and reviews. Submissions will be put through an exhaustive review process and published on the official website of the Journal, University, as well as CIPR.

Categories of Submissions

  • Articles: 5000- 7000 words
  • Essays: 3000-5000 words
  • Notes, Comments, and Reviews: 1000- 3000 words

Word count is exclusive of footnotes. Longer submissions will be considered at the discretion of the editorial board.

Formatting Guidelines

  1. The submission must be made in .doc/.docx/.odt format only. PDFs of submissions will not be accepted.
  2. The body of the manuscript must be according to the following specifications:
    • Times New Roman font
    • Font size 12
    • Line spacing 1.5
  3. Submissions must follow the Bluebook (21st edition) style of citation. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single line spacing.

Guidelines for Submission

  1. All submissions are to be made in electronic form and must be sent to ciprlawreview@nuals.ac.in.Submissions must be received on or before April 18, 2023.
  2. All submissions must include an abstract not exceeding 300 words.
  3. Submissions must be accompanied by a brief note including the following information:
    • Name
    • Postal Address
    • Name of Institution
    • The course of Study (if applicable)
    • Academic Year
    • Contact Number
  4. In the submission of work, the author undertakes that the work is original and has not been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere.
  5. All submissions will be subject to a plagiarism check at the first stage of evaluation. If work is found to be unoriginal or plagiarised (including self-plagiarism), it will be rejected at the first instance. The Journal also reserves the right to revoke the acceptance upon a finding of plagiarism at any stage of the submission or editing process.
  6. Co-authorship is allowed for a maximum of two authors.
  7. Authors will be intimated of receipt of submission within one week from the date of submission.

About Arb Excel

To stimulate interest and foster growth in arbitration jurisprudence, Kachwaha and Partners organize an all-India article writing competition on arbitrations for students. This competition hopes to ignite interest; nurture talent and help shape future thought leaders in the field of arbitration.

India aspires to be a center for arbitrations. Considering the critical role of arbitrations in dispute resolution (be it domestic; cross-border – commercial or treaty driven) it is in the national interest for Indian and Indian practitioners to engage themselves and excel in this field.

We hope that our students participate enthusiastically, not only in this competition but generally in the field of arbitrations as a dispute resolution mechanism. A unique feature of the competition is that participants have the free choice to pick a topic of interest in the field of arbitration.

Submission Guidelines

  • All submissions should be made in electronic form at akhushu@kaplegal.com
  • The participants are required to submit two separate attachments. Attachment 1 should contain the following documents:
  • Proof of author having met the eligibility criteria in Para I above (e.g. college identity card; certificate from the Head of Institute).
  • Self-declaration by the participant that the work submitted is original in all respects.
  • Self-certificate that the work has not yet been published or otherwise put in the public domain.
  • The article should be submitted as Attachment 2 in a word format along with the following documents in the sequence mentioned below:
    • page 1 – title page
    • page 2 – short extract/summary of the article
  • The title page should have the following details: article title, author’s name, contact particulars college name and address, and email id for future correspondence.
  • The summary / short extract should not exceed 250 words (which would not be counted in the word limit for the main article).
  • The coordinator will within five working days acknowledge receipt of the article. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, please contact the coordinator.

Word Limit and Formatting Guidelines

  • Article length should be between 3500 – 4500 words (excluding footnotes).
  • The article should be submitted in word format only.
  • The article and extract should be written in 12 pt. calibre font with a 1-inch margin on all sides, 1.5 paragraph spacing, and a footer numbering pages as “page x of y”.
  • Footnotes should be on the same page. Authors should not use supra, infra, or ibid and should give full reference of the citation/ authority/ reference, etc. wherever applicable.
  • Avoid extensive footnotes or extensive quotations. Reference or paraphrasing of thoughts and ideas from standard works are acceptable without quotations, provided they are duly acknowledged in footnotes or otherwise as may be suitable.

Registration Details

There are no registration fees and registration is automatic at the time of receipt of the article as per the Rules.

Awards and Rewards

There are a total of 9 prizes (in the form of cash, book prizes and certificate) as follows:

  • 1st prize – Rs. 1 lakh
  • 2nd prize – Rs. 75,000/-
  • 3rd prize – Rs. 50,000/-
  • Finalists – three prizes of Rs. 10,000/- each and a book prize worth Rs. 10,000/- each.
  • “Honourable mentions – three prizes of Rs. 10,000/- each.
  • Winning authors will have the option to have their articles published on Monday.

Submission Deadline

The last date for submission is 1st March 2023 and the results of the competition will be declared on 30th June 2023.

LEXSTRUCTOR NATIONAL JOURNAL OF LAW & TECHNOLOGY calls for ORIGINAL and UNPUBLISHED Research Papers, Short Articles and  Case Comments for its upcoming Volume 1 Issue 2, February 2021.

Theme

We are interested in receiving submissions on any contemporary issues in the law as well as its interrelation with the technology, e.g., but not limited to e-commerce, cybercrime, biotechnology, competition, intellectual property and  any current social-legal issues. 

Submission Guidelines

  1. Submission should be made in MS Word format.
  2. The manuscript shall be original and unpublished.
  3. The manuscript shall be free from plagiarism, any spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. 
  4. Co-authorship is allowed to maximum three authors.
  5. The full names, designations, contact numbers and email addresses of all the author(s), must be mentioned only in the cover page of the manuscript. 
  6. There shall be a uniform method for citation (BLUEBOOK 20TH EDITION) in the manuscript. 
  7. The body of the manuscript shall be in Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman and size 10, with single line spacing.
  8. Tabular columns, diagrams, or any photograph with proper sources are allowed to use in the Manuscript. Photographs and diagrams must be of 1200px x 675px or less than that.
  9. A margin of 1 inch shall be maintained from all sides. 
  10. Manuscript texts should be justified and the headings should be either left-aligned or centre-aligned. 
  11. An abstract of not exceeding 250 words (along with five keywords preferred) must be accompanied with the manuscript.
  12. Manuscript file must be named as < ‘Title of the Manuscript_First Name of the author(s)’>. Except in the cover page, name or details of the author(s) should not be mentioned anywhere in the Manuscript.
  13. On submission of the manuscript, the authors will receive acknowledgement of the receipt of their submissions via mail. Every submission shall undergo through three stages’ review process. The authors will be updated on completion of each stage of review. On qualifying three-stages of review, the qualified submissions shall be selected for publication.
  14. On selection of the manuscript, the author(s) will be informed about the same and accordingly, authors are required to fill up ‘copyright statement’ provided in the website and pay the requisite minimal fee for publication on the journal i.e. 

Rs. 150/- for single author, 

Rs. 250/- for co-authorship (for 2 authors in total)

Rs. 400/- for co-authorship (for 3 authors in total)

  1. After completion of all the required formalities, the authors are required to email us the transaction details along with the payment receipts. Post-publication, every author will be received certificate of publication via email.

About Delhi Law Review (Student Edition)

The Delhi Law Review (Student Edition) is an annual, double-blind, student-reviewed and edited journal.The objective of DLR is to involve students in promoting academic research and facilitating debate on contemporary legal issues in India.
