About the Organisation
From the beginning, Lawschole has been driven by the interests and involvement of our incredible and engaged law students. We are a growing law-student forum focused on improving our collection of law school news and opportunities, and enhancing the forum experience. We are a great resource, offering opportunities for students to be active in a variety of topics and to engage with each other in an interesting and safe online environment. It is a forum where law students can share thoughts, seek opinions and advice, and learn something new from other members of the forum.
About the Competition
In an effort of improving the creation and dissemination of legal writing, Lawschole is organising 1st Lawschole Essay Writing Competition to bring into light the views of students on varied aspects of day-to-day life. While pursuing our goals, we commit to engaging with law students so as to ensure the involvement of law students.
Themes
Authors may select the topic of their choice on any current legal topic.
Guidelines to Authors
The word limit is 1500 words, exclusive of footnotes.
Co-authorship is allowed to a maximum of 2 authors only.
The essay writing competition is open to students enrolled in any graduate or postgraduate course.
The submission must be made in .doc or .docx format only.
The content should be the original work of the writer and should not have been given to any other competition or for any publication. Plagiarised content shall not be entertained.
Judgment shall be based on the quality of the content and uniqueness.
No extension in deadline shall be allowed.
The formatting guidelines to be followed are:

Alignment: Justified
Line spacing: 1.15
Registration
Registration amount is Rs. 100 for Single Author and Rs. 150 for Co-authorship. Co-authorship is allowed to a maximum of 2 authors.

1st Prize: Rs. 500 + e-Certificate of Achievement + Free Publication of Essay on our website + an opportunity to get an article published in the Lawschole’s E-Magazine for free.
2nd Prize: e-Certificate of Achievement + Free Publication of Essay at our website + an opportunity to get an article published in the Lawschole’s E-Magazine for free.
Top 15 Essays will be provided with the e-Merit Certificate and an opportunity to get an article published in the Lawschole’s E-Magazine for free.

About the Competition:
As Law students, it is our duty to simplify the complexities prevailing within the legal mechanism and convey them to the masses for their better perusal – at Jus Commune, we aim to eliminate legal illiteracy in the country and ensure that people exercise their Constitutional Privilege of Freedom of Speech and Expression by the mode of Legal Writing.
Several reputed Law Colleges and Legal Forums in India invite people for expressing their views and opinions in the form of an Article or Research Paper for Journals, Conferences and Seminars for promoting the exchange of ideas and finding a proper solution upon a particular aspect. And for enabling participation and publication, interested persons are expected to submit Abstracts – short write-ups explaining what the author seeks to convey through their Full Paper is expected to be done meticulously, if an opportunity to suggest measures or highlight discrepancies before dignitaries of the fraternity is to be grabbed.
Realizing the importance of this, we at Jus Commune invite Creative Abstracts, assuring publication opportunities for the Winners and promoting the importance of Abstract Writing in the country.

– Open to all law students from 3 year LLB, 5 years BA/BBA/BCOM LLB, PhD and LLM programs.

Guidelines for Contribution:
All Abstracts must be submitted in English Language only.
The length of the Abstract must not exceed 700 words.
Since it is an Abstract, Footnotes/Endnotes are not required.
The abstracts are allowed up to one Co-author (Not more than 2 Authors per Abstract)
All submissions shall be made in Pdf or Word.doc format.
Details of the author(s) shall be provided in the body of the email while submitting the Abstract or Paper for the Competition.
The plagiarism level must not exceed 20% for the abstract and the research paper.

NOTE
Only the top 5 abstract authors shall be asked to produce research papers with universal citations for the purpose of publication in JLSR and Jus Commune.
The length of the research paper shouldn’t exceed 2000 words. This would also include the abstract of 700 words, which implies that one would only have to write 1300 words if one’s abstract is selected in the top 5 categories.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Nayi Pehal is organizing this competition through online platforms, keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic. The topic of the competition is also relevant to the current circumstances, which is as follows:
“भारत में निरंतर तालाबंदी ने छात्रों सहित समूची शिक्षा व्यवस्था को अपूरणीय क्षति पहुंचाई है।” “The continuous lockdown in India has dealt irreparable damage to both students and the entire education system.”
We hope that through this platform, students get another activity to exercise their brains and maintain the spirit of education even when everyone is locked in their homes. Eligibility Anyone who wishes to participate is eligible to take part in this competition. Language This is an online bilingual debate competition.
The medium for the debate shall be either Hindi or English. Hence, the participants can use either language but must stick to one language and not switch between them.

First and second prize will be awarded based on the marks of the judges.

RULES AND REGULATION
1. Speaking Time is 3 minutes. On exceeding the time limit, marks may be deducted or the entry may be disqualified.
2. The format of entries will be in the form of pre-recorded videos (mp4 format)
3. The whole speech should be recorded in one go – any Editing, Trimming or Cuttings in a video is not allowed
. 4. Reading out the entire speech from a paper is not allowed. However, one can keep a short note for reference.
5. Participants shall send their videos via Google Drive share link on the Email ID being provided: nayipehalorg@gmail.com

7. Participants will be judged in 3 categories – CONTENT (10), DELIVERY (10), VOICE MODULATION AND PRONUNCIATION (10).
8. The decision of the judges and the organizing committee will be final and binding.
9. E-Certificate of participation will be provided to all the participants on the email ID provided at the time of registration.
10. Videos of all the participants shall be uploaded by Nayi Pehal on its social media by 5th of June, 2020 to find the most popular debater. The number of likes received on each video till 11:59 P.M., 7th of June 2020, will be counted to find the most popular debater. Any likes received after that time limit will not be counted.
