The National Law Institute University (NLIU) was established by Act No. 41 of 1997 of the Madhya Pradesh Legislature to provide modern legal education through multidisciplinary teaching and imparting of up-to-date skills. About the 7th NLIU-Trilegal Summit on Corporate and Commercial Laws

The Centre for Business and Commercial Law (CBCL) in collaboration with Trilegal is organizing the 7th NLIU-Trilegal Summit on Corporate and Commercial Laws, 2021 virtually on 19th February 2022.

Submission Categories

  • Articles: Manuscripts for this summit under this category should be 4000-6000 words long, dealing with an issue in-depth and demonstrating a comparatively higher level of analysis. Co-authorship of papers (maximum two) among individuals from the same or different institutions is allowed.
  • Essays: Manuscripts under this category should be 2000-3000 words and either cover a recent development or be issue-specific. Co-authorship is not allowed.

Kindly note that the word limit is exclusive of footnotes. Strict adherence to the word limit is prescribed.

Prerequisites

Submission is expected to be of high academic quality and must comply with the prescribed substance, formatting, and citation standards. Furthermore, submissions will be accepted only if:

  • The title succinctly encapsulates the topic and explains the body of work;
  • The abstract briefly describes the idea behind the submission in not more than 200 words, its structure, and the authors’ conclusion(s);
  • The issue(s) are clearly identified and adequately described; and
  • The submission is coherently presented.

A submission will not be accepted if it has been plagiarized.

  • Abstract: Times New Roman, Font Size 11, line spacing 1.5, Margins of 2.0, Italics, aligned centre.

Authors must be pursuing their LL.B. (Hons.) / LL.B. / LL.M. from any recognized university for the academic year of 2021-2022, to be eligible to participate in the Summit.

The IMS Unison University is organizing the International Dispute Resolution Conference 2022 (“Conference”) to be held on July 29-30, 2022, at IMS Unison University, Dehradun. The 2-day International Conference by IMS Unison University on the theme ‘Transforming International Dispute Resolution Mechanisms During a Paradigm Shift in Geopolitics‘ is jointly organized by the School of Law IMS Unison University, India and Kathmandu University, Nepal.

On 20 December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (“Mediation Convention”). It opens enormous business opportunities for enterprises and dispute resolution professionals. The term ‘paradigm shift in geopolitics’ in the theme of the conference aims to foster discussion on emerging trends in dispute resolution and the impact of the Mediation Convention on the international business environment.

During these days, scholars, lawyers, and ADR practitioners will share views and experiences as to how their unique perspectives on mediation, negotiation, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution mechanisms have the capacity to shape and transform conflict across the globe.

Call for Papers

Research papers are invited from research scholars, academicians, lawyers, jurists and students on the abovementioned theme. The following sub-themes are only illustrative in nature and may include any paper covering the major themes of the Seminar.

Submission Guidelines

Abstract

  • The abstract must be developed on A4-sheet in Word Document Format typed in Times New Roman in 12 font size with 1.5 line spacing in not more than 500 words, it should not contain more than FIVE keywords.
  • The abstract should contain personal details of the author(s) in the order: Title of the paper, Name, Designation, Institute/ University/ College/Organization, Contact number, E-mail and address (es), of the author(s).
  • Kindly indicate the name of the main author for correspondence in the case of more than one author. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and evaluated on the basis of originality, research rigour, relevance to the seminar, and contribution to the theory and practice.

Submissions

  • Submissions for the International Conference by IMS Unison University are to be made only in electronic form. The same may be e-mailed to iuuconferencelaw22@iuu.ac in MS Word format along with a covering letter addressed to Organizing Secretary.
  • Title Must be written in bold, size 14 and centred margin. Margin Manuscripts must be in single spacing, font size 12 in Times New Roman and all margins: 1.5 inches (left) and 1 inch (top, right and bottom).
  • Tables- Tables must be placed as part of the text. DO NOT attach tables at the end of the manuscript. Soft Manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word 2007 in the above format ONLY.
  • Sub-Title Written in bold, size 12 and left margin.
  • Tables/Figures Title of the tables/figure should be written on the top of the tables/figure. Times New Roman, font 12, Bold and centered margin.
  • Footnoting should be done strictly according to Bluebook 20th Edition, Times New Roman, Size 10, Line -Spacing 1
  • Word Limit Articles should be generally of 4000-4500 words (excluding references and footnotes).

Rules for Participation

  • No abstract or full paper shall be accepted after the last date of submission. ¨
  • Registration is mandatory on confirmation of acceptance of abstract, with the payment of required fees to be deposited in the bank account.
  • Only registered participants will be allowed to take part in National Seminar.
  • No refund will be allowed once a participant/paper presenter is registered. All the registered participants will be provided participation certificate. The Best Paper of each session will be acknowledged and awarded.
  • In the event of the seminar being conducted in the offline mode, the participants will be responsible for the arrangement of their personal accommodation.
  • Breakfast and lunch for the participants will be provided by the university. Only one co-author is allowed.
  • No in-absentia presentations will be allowed, at least one author must be present for the presentation.

Under exceptional circumstances, the editorial board may accept pieces that revisit important issues that may have gone dormant, if they provide a unique and novel perspective or have renewed scope for discussion.

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). RGNUL Moot Court competition

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has always envisioned serving the society through reforms in legal services by way of preparing professionally competent lawyers. The current moot was a complete reflection of the motto of our university which is ‘knowledge empowers’. Mooting is always an integral part of a law student’s life, and thus, finds a very regular mention at our university. To further the mooting culture of our university and to provide the participants with a platform to showcase their advocacy, the University organizes various moot court competitions.


The RGNUL Moot Court Committee is one of the leading and most active committees here at RGNUL, the significance of the committee is immense. The committee has been known for organizing various moots and related activities aimed at promoting a positive sense of mooting culture. ‘The committee also facilitates the allotment of various national and international moot court competitions to the teams who proudly represent
RGNUL in these competitions.

10th RGNUL Moot Court competition

The RGNUL Moot Court Committee is tremendously honored to inform you that in April 2022, we will be organizing the 10th edition of RGNUL National Moot Court competition. This edition’s moot proposition has been drafted to test the knowledge, research aptitude and application of law by the participants on various aspects of Criminal Law.

The moot shall be organized on-campus(offline) from the Ist-3rd of April. However, the organizers reserve the right to switch to online/virtual mode subject to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines issued by the Government of India. The participants will be notified beforehand in case of any modification in the mode of conduction of the Competition.

The registration for the moot shall open on 4th of January, 2022. A total of 36 slots are available for the moot, meaning thereby that the registration for the moot shall take place on a first-come-first-serve basis. The interested teams are requested to get their Universities provisionally registered via a mail from the official email id of their MCC/MCA. Upon receiving the acknowledgment of the provisional registration, participants are requested to follow the procedure given in the Rules for final registration. The Registration fee for the moot is INR 6,000/-. In case the Competition is conducted in Virtual mode, the registration fees to be paid shall stand at INR 3,500/-. If such a situation arises, the remaining balance will be refunded by the organisers to the concerned teams within a reasonable period of time.

About the Job Opportunity

PETA India is seeking to hire a law graduate with experience in litigation for the job role of Legal Counsel, in Delhi. The objectives of this engagement are as follows:

  • To assist with strategising and coordinating PETA India litigation at various forums, including in cooperation with outside counsel
  • To ensure that PETA India staff members are operating with sound knowledge of the law and using the strongest legal arguments to advance and meet our objectives
  • To prepare casework against individuals or organisations responsible for cruelty to animals

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Draft in-house legal documents and pleadings
  • Conduct legal research for ongoing and proposed litigation
  • Manage in-house litigations and coordinate with outside counsel, as assigned
  • Ensure regular, timely reporting on the progress of litigation to the supervisor
  • Assist with and, when required, lead PETA India’s litigation to advance animal protection under the law, including by coordinating with outside counsel and appearing in court
  • Under supervision, identify and manage relations with outside legal counsel on various matters
  • Prepare and send legal notices to individuals and organisations breaking animal-protection laws
  • Assist in exercising due diligence, including by maintaining clear records of correspondence and court-related documents
  • Ensure that the organisation’s work conforms with legal requirements
  • Meet with outside counsel and others, as required by individual cases and as requested
  • Write letters to and meet with law-enforcement officials in order to persuade them to act in cases of cruelty to animals
  • Draft and coordinate official letters, Right to Information Act requests, reports, and other documents as needed
  • Ensure PETA India staff members are operating with sound knowledge of the law and using the strongest legal arguments to advance and meet our objectives
  • Conduct media interviews, including on camera, and carry out other public-speaking engagements about specific cases as well as PETA India’s policy advocacy work and campaigns
  • Provide campaigners, researchers, investigators, and caseworkers with legal support
  • Research, interpret, and apply pertinent central government and state statutes, regulations, and case law
  • Report on weekly developments in all significant matters as well as future courses of action and related deadlines

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from a university recognised by The Bar Council of India
  • Experience: 2-3 years of litigation experience preferred
    • Preferred experience in animal rights law or a related field
  • Good standing to practise law
  • Ability to travel for PETA litigation
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
  • Proven excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Proven excellent strategic-thinking and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks within strict time constraints
  • Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
  • Support for PETA’s philosophy and the ability to advocate PETA’s positions on issues in a professional manner
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
  • Fluent in Hindi
  • Knowledge of other local Indian languages a plus

About Internship at Centre for Public Policy Research

CPPR Is looking for Interns for Election Study.

Eligibility

  • Graduate/ post graduate in any social science subject (preferable Political Science, Public Policy)
  • Research skills and data analysis
  • Basic understanding of political parties and political developments, vote share, policies, party rhetoric, etc
  • Should have a passion and interest to study and understand elections
  • Should have local knowledge of the states’ local culture, and politics,
  • Should be able to access states’ local media (in vernacular), for updates

Responsibilities

  • Should have knowledge of where and how to access data
  • Data collection (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Track political developments of the states preparing for Elections
  • Contribute to content creation on the political developments
