About the Centre

The Centre for Environmental Legal Studies [CELS] was established by the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab in 2016 as a research centre tasked with the responsibility of undertaking and encouraging discourse on the wide array of enviro-legal issues faced by humanity, at a domestic, regional and international level.

CELS seeks to collaborate with various experts, leading academicians, legislators, and government authorities to raise awareness of environmental concerns and advance legal remedies for the same, while also endeavouring to contribute to the complex and multi-dimensional issues of enviro-legal policy in India.

About the Blog 

The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog is an egalitarian space that aims to foster critical interdisciplinary research on environmental developments across the world via inviting original contributions by the legal fraternity. The objective is to stir and promote discussion and discourse between various stakeholders in the field of environmental jurisprudence.

It intends to provide an accessible forum for relevant, well-researched, and edited scholarly articles. The blog will be stationed on contribution basis where the cognitive analysis of the contributors will be published for public discussion.

Call for Articles

The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog invites articles on a rolling basis on contemporary environmental issues. Under exceptional circumstances, the editorial board may accept write-ups that revisit significant yet dormant issues, if they provide a unique and novel perspective or have paradigm scope for discussion.

The contributions must include high- quality interdisciplinary and legal analysis of environmental issues, case laws, legislation and policy-making, and activism. Quality of research and adherence to the submission guidelines are quintessential requirements for acceptance.

Eligibility 

The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog invites articles from students, environment law researchers, academicians, practitioners, members of civil society organizations and policymakers. 

Submission Guidelines

  1. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
  2. The title of the manuscript should indicate the sub-theme that has been chosen by the author(s).
  3. The word limit for the submission shall be 800-1200words, accompanied by an abstract of not more than 150 words. The word limit is exclusive of endnotes and abstract.
  4. Co-authorship to a maximum of two authors, of the same or different institutions, is permissible.
  5. The body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. The endnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single line spacing. The text alignment should be justified.
  6. Ensure that the title of the document has been renamed to the title of the post [without any personal detail of the author(s)].
  7. Referencing and citations must be put up in the form of in text hyperlinks for internet sources.
  8. Endnotes for offline sources shall adhere to Bluebook (20th Edition) citation format.
  9. Submissions should include the manuscript in .doc or .docx format. The manuscript should not contain the name of the author or his/ her institutional affiliation or any other identification mark.
  10. Along with the manuscript, a separate cover letter in .doc or .docx format has to be attached. The Cover letter should contain the name of the author, professional information, the title of the manuscript, contact information, a short bio about the author(s).
  11. Authors must also indicate their academic qualifications including their year of study or degree(s) completed and the name of the university/ institution to which they are affiliated.
  12. Manuscript shall be sent along with the Declaration form(provided below) stating that the manuscript is an original and a bona fide work of the author(s) and they undertake to divest the copyright of the work to The CELS Enviro-Legal Blog, if accepted for publication.The Declaration form is available here as declaration form.

About RMLNLU

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is an institute for law in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Dr RMLNLU was established in the year 2005, and since then, has been providing undergraduate and post-graduate legal education.

About the Journal Committee

The Committee was constituted with the objective of promoting legal research and writing. Apart from conducting the RMLNLU International Legal Essay Writing Competition every year, the Committee annually publishes two peer-reviewed journals – the RMLNLU Law Review and the RMLNLU Journal on CMET (Communication, Media, Entertainment and Technology) Law.

Both these journals publish articles, essays, case notes/comments and book reviews from contributors all over the world. The RMLNLU Law Review also runs a blog that provides a platform for people in the field to express their opinions on contemporary legal issues.

About the Journal

The RMLNLU Journal on Communication, Media, Entertainment & Technology Law (hereinafter ‘the Journal’) is an annual, student-edited, peer-reviewed law journal published by the Journal Committee of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow.

Through this Journal, the Committee aims to foster the spirit of writing and set in motion a discourse among knowledgeable intellectuals from various fields of law.

The Journal Committee is pleased to announce the call for papers for The RMLNLU Journal on Communication, Media, Entertainment & Technology Law, Volume IX.

This is a theme-based journal and only accepts submissions pertaining to the same.

Call for Papers

The Journal accepts submissions from law students, academicians and legal professionals all over the country and abroad in the form of:

  • Articles: 5000-7000 words. (These are evaluations of specific contemporary issues and aim at conceptualizing the issues in a unique and unconventional manner. The assessment of contemporary issues shall be appreciated, though not mandatory).
  • Case notes/comments: 2000-3000 words. (These are assessments of the aim and legal impact of contemporary judgments and legislations).
  • Book Reviews: 2000-3000 words. (Entries submitted under this category may present innovative evaluations of present literature).
  • Essays: 4000-5000 words.

The submissions may be on any contemporary legal issue connected with media law and its allied fields of communications, entertainment and technology. The authors are expected to adhere to the prescribed word limit as indicated above.

Note: The prescribed word limits exclude Abstract, whose word limit has been prescribed in the guidelines that follow, and footnotes, wherein speaking footnotes must be avoided wherever possible.

Each of these entries shall be required to conform to the set of guidelines that follow.

All the sources in the footnotes must be properly cited strictly in accordance with the latest OSCOLA (4th edition) format. No endnotes or speaking footnotes (descriptive footnotes) are allowed.

General Instructions

  1. The submission should be original and non-plagiarised. They should exhibit originality in thought, critical evaluation, and careful interpretations. Submission of a paper shall be taken to imply that it is an unpublished work and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  2. Co-Authorship to a maximum of two members is allowed. However, co-authorship is not allowed in “book reviews” and “case notes/comments”.
  3. Acknowledgement and Declaration by the author(s) need not be included.
  4. The contents should in no way, directly or indirectly, indicate or reference the identity of the author(s).
  5. The author(s) must send in the cover letter in the body of the mail, which must contain all the relevant biographical details (Name of the author(s), their degrees, Designation, Name of College/University/Institution, Postal Address(es), Phone Number and email ID). A separate attachment as a cover letter will not be entertained.
  6. The authors must attach only one manuscript to the mail which must include the abstract and the main content of the paper. The authors must refrain from adding any other information (such as personal information, declarations) in this manuscript. 
  7.  The file name of the attached manuscript must be the name(s) of the author(s).
  8. The subject title for the mail must be ‘Article/Essay/Case Comment/Book Review for Volume IX’. 

Declarations

  1. Editors’ decisions shall be final and binding. They reserve the sole rights to the publication of the selected articles in addition to, inter alia, any edits/amends/reproduction.
  2. The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the Journal Committee, Dr. RMLNLU.

Please note, that only one submission per author or a team of co-authors is permissible. In case of more than one submission, only the one received first would be considered for review.

Submission Deadline and Review

The deadline for submission of the manuscript is February 25, 2022, by 11:59 PM.

There shall be a rigorous review process comprising 3 stages and spanning 45 days. The authors shall be intimated about the status of their manuscript at every stage.

The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, RGNUL (CADR-RGNUL) was established in the year 2018 as a Centre dedicated to research and capacity-building in ADR. The CADR Blog runs on a rolling basis and accepts articles for submission throughout the year, and are pleased to invite submissions on all topics related to ADR in the form of articles, case comments etc.

General Submission Guidelines

  • Co-authorship is limited to a maximum of two authors.
  • All submissions must be in Times New Roman or Garamond, font size 12, and Spacing 1.5.
  • The Word limit for all submissions is between 800 – 1500 words. This stipulation is, however, flexible at the Editor’s discretion in exceptional cases.
  • All entries should be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • The submissions must be original, unpublished, and an outcome of the author’s own efforts. Any submission to the CADR Blog automatically includes a declaration to the effect of “The article is an original work of the author(s). I(We) certify that my(our) submission is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under review or consideration elsewhere.”
  • Authors must acknowledge and give due reference to any source. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and articles found to be plagiarized will not be considered for publication.
  • On submission, authors shall be deemed to have divested the copyright to CADR. However, all moral rights shall vest with the author(s).

Submission Process

  • The CADR Editorial Board has a strict double-blind review process. For an understanding of the process, we encourage listening to this podcast here.
  • At the outset, the authors are requested to send manuscripts which are original and unpublished. In case plagiarism is detected, the Editorial Board has the right to reject the submission. Due credit must be given, to the best of the authors’ abilities, to all who have ideated the content the authors have submitted.
  • All submissions must be accompanied by an abstract of preferably 100–150 words, and at no time more than 200 words, briefly explaining the crux of the submission/the research question/focus of commentary or analysis and if possible, the structure of the submission.

The 12th Government Law College International Law Summit is being organised by the Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai. The Summit is scheduled to take place from 25th

Call for Papers for International Law Journal

All members of the legal fraternity, practitioners, professors and students are invited to present original academic papers for the International Law Journal, Vol. II, 2022.

Theme

Submissions are invited on any topic of contemporary relevance in the area of International Law. Submissions may be in the form of following categories:

Submission Categories

  • Articles: Papers that comprehensively analyze a theme and engage with all the existing literature in it. An article should be in between 6000 and 10000 words exclusive of footnotes.
  • Essays: Papers that concisely analyze specific contemporary issues in the field of international law. It should be between 4000 and 6000 words exclusive of footnotes.
  • Case Notes and/or Legislative Commentaries: Notes and commentaries must discuss or critique a recent judgement, landmark case or any recent legislation or bill before Parliament or State legislature. It should be between 1500 and 3000 words exclusive of footnotes.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract Word Limit: 200 words
  • Co-authorship: Allowed upto 2 authors
  • Method of citation: The ILJ follows ‘Harvard Bluebook 20th Edition’ style of referencing.

About the Judgment Deliberation Competition (JDC)

The JDC essentially expects participants to arrive at a judgment, after analysis of facts and arguments presented from both sides. The competition has been inspired by the procedures of various judicial bodies and tribunals that span the spectrum of international law.

Bringing a fresh approach to problem analysis and judgment making, it requires participants to arrive at a judgment that is infallible in law, rational in thought, and innovative in its essence.

Eligibility

Students of any university on a full-time or part-time basis in either a 3-year LLB or a 5-year integrated BA/BBA/BSC/BCOM/BLS LLB courses at the time of the competition are eligible to participate in the Competition.

Team Composition and Selection

A Team shall be composed of two (2) members: Judge and Judicial Clerk.

These roles are interchangeable only upon the commencement of a new round.

Please note that the students can register individually for the competition, they do not need to
register through their college.

Fee Payment

The registration fee per team for Judgment Deliberation Competition 2022 for all the invited National Universities/Colleges is INR 1000 and Overseas Universities/Colleges is US$ 25.

The same shall be submitted through the required payment method which will be provided through mail once the registration is confirmed by the organising committee.

Deadline for the payment of Registration fee: All payments must be made within 48 hours of Confirmation of Registration by the committee.

Note: No refund shall be made on cancellation of registration.

In 2009, JGU began its first academic session with the establishment of India’s first global law school.

About the Moot

The 5th Edition of the Annual Jindal Moot Court Competition is being organized as a fully online event to be held between 11th to 13th March 2022. This edition of the Moot Competition is being hosted and organized by the Moot Court Society, Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat, in Association with the Jindal Initiative for research in IP and Competition Law (JIRICO). After successfully hosting four editions of this moot, this year’s edition focuses on the issues with Competition Law.

The Moot shall be judged by renowned legal professionals involved in the practice of Intellectual Property and Competition law from across the country. This will certainly be an excellent opportunity for the mooters to benefit from the guidance and expertise of such professionals.

Please find attached the Moot Proposition, Moot Competition Rules, and the final schedule of the event.

However, kindly note that only one team may register per Institution, comprising of 2 Oralists and 1 Researcher. All teams registering must provide authorization on their Institution Letterhead, signed by the Dean/ Registrar/Faculty-In-charge of Mooting. There is no registration fee involved.

Eligibility and Team Composition

Eligibility

  • The Competition is open to students enrolled full time in any University/college/department, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Law (i.e., B.A. LLB, B.B.A. LLB, B.Com.. LLB, B.Tech. LLB, B.Sc. LLB, 3 Year LLB and their equivalent degrees) at the time that the Competition takes place, which is recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Students enrolled for Post-graduate, Doctoral, Diploma, Research, and equivalent degrees are not eligible to participate.
  • These requirements do not apply to coaches or advisors to the teams.

Team Composition

  • An institution shall under no circumstance be permitted to register more than one (1) team and all members of a team shall be enrolled in the same institution.
  • Teams shall comprise of 3 members only, comprising of two oralists and one researcher per team.
  • Subject to the rules related to Team Coaches or Advisors and Observers, no other individual may assist the team with researching,writing, editing, citations, constructing its arguments or in any other manner. Failure to observe this rule may result in disqualification.

Registration

  • Participation in the moot is upon invitation only. Upon receiving such invitation, the representatives of the institution will have to submit details for registration as per the guidelines prescribed by the OC.
  • The representatives of the Registering Institution will have to submit details for registration as per the guidelines prescribed by the OC, which will be shared via mail.
  • The OC reserves the right to refuse the registration of any team, with adequate notice.
  • At the time of registration, teams shall select an official point of contact from the participating team who will be responsible for all official correspondence between the team and the OC.
  • Changes to the registered information will not normally be permitted. Exceptional circumstances may be brought to the attention of the OC, who may permit modifications on a discretionary basis. The decision of the OC shall be final in this regard.
  • After registration, participating teams will be provided with a Team Code, which will serve as their unique identifier for submitting Memorials and at the Oral Rounds. Teams shall strictly only use their Team Code and shall not disclose the names of their Universities or names of individual team members on their memorials, or in the presence of judges, during the course of the Competition.

Failure to abide by these rules may invite penalties, as determined by the OC on a case-by-case basis.

About the Moot Court Competition

The NMCC 2022 is the first ever attempt made by the Moot Court Committee of the IFIM Law
School to provide its young and dynamic law students a visibility for themselves as well as for
the law school and to carve a niche in the realm of business and commercial laws. The theme of the competition is Cryptocurrency and Smart Contract

IFIM Law School, Bengaluru, through the proposition of its National Moot Court Competition, has attempted to spread awareness and knowledge about cryptocurrencies; especially at this time when there is a big question mark hanging over the regulation of cryptocurrencies.

With the highest number of cryptocurrency users in the world, India has also been focusing on the same and has been actively thinking about ways to answer the question of effective regulation of cryptocurrencies by starting with proposing a bill regarding the same.

The moot proposition has been made in the thought of bringing the most basic to the more complex issues when dealing with smart contracts and the blockchain system. One of the major contentions of the problem relates to the validity of the contract mentioned in the problem, due to its existence in the form of a smart contract, its admissibility in the court of law as a piece of valid evidence and the validity of cryptocurrencies as a lawful consideration.

The other contentions of the problem relate to jurisdiction, drafting of adhesion contracts, unfair trade practices, interpretation of clauses by smart contract mechanism, and the liability to pay damages.

Eligibility

The competition is open only for bona-fide students of recognized Institutions/Universities/Organizations who are currently pursuing their bachelor’s degree in Law i.e. 3-Year LL.B. or 5- Year LL.B. Integrated Program.

Each team shall consist of a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances. There shall be 2 speakers and 1 researcher designated in a team of 3 while in case of a team of 2, both members of the team shall be considered to be speakers.

Teams shall identify their speakers and researcher during registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed. Each team will be provided a team code and each participant will be provided with an individual code which will be communicated to them in due time via email.

About the Essay Competition 

Keeping in mind its aim to foster further Constitutional studies, CLPRS is conducting a National Essay Competition on Constitution Law. Participating authors are required to adhere to the below mentioned topics and submission guidelines.

Authors may select any ONE of the following topics for their essay:

  • Criminalisation of Marital Rape – Women’s  Rights and Bodily Autonomy
  • Evolution of the Nature of State Surveillance during the COVID-19 Pandemic – Analysing the Changing Definitions of Privacy
  • Laws governing Digital Assets – A Comparative Study
  • Ambedkar’s Three Warnings on Democracy

Eligibility 

All students pursuing under-graduate (three/five year) or post-graduate law degrees from any law school/university/college recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate in the Essay Competition.

Submission Guidelines 

Authors are required to strictly follow the following submission guidelines:

  • The essay submitted should be of at least 1200 words, but not more than 2000 words.
  • Essay submissions are to be made on: pgcl.clprs@gmail.com.  
  • Subject line of the e-mail submission to be in the following format: “CLPRS Essay Competition 2022 Submission – ‘Name of the Essay’ – ‘Full Author Name’”.
  • Submission e-mail is required to have attached the essay in the following formats: (1) Word Document and (2) PDF.
  • Only one submission per author or a team of co-authors is permissible. In case of more than one submission, only the one received first would be considered for review.

  • Co-authorship of a maximum of TWO authors is permitted.
  • The essay must be the original and bonafide work of the participating author.

The Judgment Writing Competition, 2022 has been conceived with the aim to cultivate the art of writing judgments among students to push the students to write judgments. The students are given the feel of assuming the role of the judge.

Team Composition: Each team shall constitute of 2 members, under no condition shall a team consisting of more than 2 members be allowed to participate.

  • The write-ups shall have no plagiarism and should be an original work of participants.
  • The participant shall follow 20th Edition Blue Book Citation.
  • Teams shall not reveal their identity in any form, except by means of the Team Code allotted to them during the Competition.
  • The Written Submissions shall not reveal the identity of the team in any form and should not bear the logo, name etc. of the University represented.
