The NITI Aayog is the Government of India’s highest public policy think tank as well as the key organisation responsible with stimulating economic development and building cooperative federalism through the bottom-up participation of State Governments in the economic policy-making procedure.

About the Internship

In 2015, the Government of India’s NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) launched an Internship Scheme. Students studying UG/Graduate/Postgraduate degrees or Research Scholars enrolled in recognised universities/institutions in India or abroad are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

Students from any accredited university or institution in India or overseas who satisfy the minimum requirements are qualified for the internship:

  • In the 12th grade, UG students who completed/appeared in the term-end exams of the 2nd year/4th semester of their bachelor’s degree programme received at least 85 percent or comparable grades.
  • Graduate students that have completed/appeared in the first-year/2nd semester term-end exams of their post-graduate programme or are pursuing research/Ph.D. and have received at least 70% or equivalent marks in their graduation.
  • Participants who have taken the final exam or who have successfully finished their graduation/post-graduation and are awaiting admission to further studies may be taken into account for internship if they have received a cumulative grade point average of 70% or higher in all years/semesters of their graduation/post-graduation up to the date of application.
  • The time between the announcement of the final exam results and the chosen internship month should not exceed 6 (six) months, for example, if the results are announced in June, he or she can enroll for internships starting in July and ending in December.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must register online solely on the NITI Aayog website by June 10, 2022.

Just six months in advance, but no later than 2 months just before intended internship period, can an entry be submitted.

Candidates must additionally specify their topic of study.

Please keep in mind that a person can only register for an internship once each fiscal year.

At the time of joining, the chosen candidate must present original mark sheets and a letter of recommendation from the college/institution, failing which his/her candidature would be annulled. (Format specified in the official notification’s Annexure ‘C’.)
