Alternative Dispute Resolution Board (ADRB) Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies & Research (HILSR), School of Law Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, is organizing the ‘Concordia: National ADR Fest‘ from 17th to 19th March 2023.

About the Institution

Jamia Hamdard (JH) was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri Rajiv Gandhi on August 1, 1989, who in his inspiring inaugural address applauded the efforts of Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb, the Founder, for setting up a number of institutions of learning which were finally merged to form a “Deemed to be University” namely Jamia Hamdard. In the words of Shri Rajiv Gandhi, “This will enable the minority to go forward and help India to march forward”.

Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research (HILSR) is one of the departments of Jamia Hamdard. Established in 2018 after approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI), HILSR aims to produce the finest legal professionals for the Bar, Bench and legal academy. Having recently admitted its fifth batch, HILSR currently offers a five-year Integrated B.A., LL.B, and LL.M programs and will start PhD. in law very soon.

Eligibility

The competition is open for students pursuing 3-year or 5-year LL.B or LL.M from any University approved by the Bar Council of India. No cross-university team shall be allowed to participate. Only one team per University may register.

Deadline

The last date for registration is 18th February 2023.

About Competition

Cyber-Crimes, financial frauds through digital payments and Data Breaches have become a significant problem in the nation due to the exponential increase in Internet Penetration and the highly affordable Smartphone Market.

These victims of cybercrimes, who have also significantly increased over the years, are often uncertain of what they need to do and how can they approach the situations and are often blamed for the incidents by society or the authorities. Therefore, it becomes necessary for young Law Students to understand how to approach these victims and help them navigate through their issues.

Technololawgy Society, UPES in association with Client Counselling Association and Moot COurt Association, UPES plan to organise the first National Cyber Law Client Counselling Competition, where the clients will be the victims of real cyber-crimes.

About the Client Consulting Competition

Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, the prestigious 20th National Client Consulting Competition for Justice P. Govinda Menon Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy, hosted by the Kerala Law Academy will be held on virtual mode from 5th to 7th of November 2020 from the Kerala Law Academy Campus, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The Client Consulting Competition is intended to explore the client-lawyer interaction skills and to improve the problem analysing techniques of the students and giving such information which a client would like to know regarding his legal problem/case. In order to satiate the client, a lawyer is expected to have excellent listening and advisory skills required to conduct a successful client interview.

Online Platform

The competition is conducted through the online platforms Zoom and Google Meet. All the participating teams should have good access to the internet and be able to access the above said online platform. This is a mandatory requirement for participation.

Eligibility

Students pursuing 3 year/5 year LLB course, in Law Colleges/Law schools/Law Universities/ Departments of Law in India recognised by the Bar Council of India.

Registration Process

The team for the competition must register on or before 29th October 2020, after complying with the formalities in Clause (2) of the Regulations of the competition, by submitting the duly filled Proforma provided in the Kerala Law Academy website, here.

Registration Details

Registration Fees: for a team is Rs 2500./-.

Please Note: Only 30 teams will be selected on ā€˜first come, first serveā€™ basisā€ plus previous performances in this competition. Only a single team (2 members) is permitted from a college.

Prizes

The winner will be awarded the Justice P. Govinda Menon Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy, other prizes and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand only).

The Runners-up will be awarded a trophy, other prizes and a cash prize of Rs 30,000 (Rupees Thirty Thousand only).
